(links to equipment used, in descripton box below) In this video I show you how to cut an overlap panel.
This is often required when you come to install the end part of the fence. This is where cutting a fence panel down to size is usually necessary. Its very unlikely you will finish with a full 6ft wide panel.
If you do, lucky for you, but if not ! you've come to the right place to find out how!
This is how to cut an overlap fence panel. Click this link to learn how to cut a close board panel - • How to cut a closeboar...
I hope that this video helped you in some way, and if it did, please leave a comment for me in the comments section. I love to hear from people who gained value from any of my videos. I always respond to comments, so would be great to hear from you guys ! 👍

About the best panel cut down vid I can find. However don't know why he didn't re-position the end battens first before cutting the excess of the panel off. This would prevent the panel from possibly falling apart when ripping down. You can usually buy battens of a similar size to nail in place before any cuts are done. Nether the less he done a tidy job.

You are right but positioning the batten behind correctly is difficult when you cant see it. As long as you use a sharp blade 99% of the time it wont crack the thin laps

@@JamesMontana You done a nice job. I'm thinking more about DIY'ers that would use your vid and cut down with a handsaw instead of a circular saw. The results might not be the same.

I've got to take an old wall down that's about 1.5 standard panels in width, and I'm going to replace with this type of fencing. Do you recommend attempting to convert 2 standard panels in to one big panel, or do as you have here - cut 2 panels down and put an extra post in and have 2 short panels?

Yes, they can be a bit of a pain. I normally just leave the end off as its a pain to fit and you wont see it anyway if using slotted concrete posts. Cutting the bottom is easier.

Move the batton first to mesured size then you have a guide to run your saw along .
@JamesMontana
@JamesMontana 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah ideally move both battens to measured size screw together then cut, but its hard lining them both up without cutting it first. Plus thoes battens arent often straight. Thanks for your tip !

Hi do you think you could use a jigsaw rather than the circular saw?
@JamesMontana
@JamesMontana 2 жыл бұрын
You might get away with it but your will likely crack the thin wood. Try removing the battons anf fit back on your marked line. Then screw together before cutting. You wont crack the wood then, but its difficult to get both front and back battons lined up perfectly to each other this way.
@linkpad6270
