I would expect this to utterly ruin any pocket knife. I also can't come up with a reason to take down a tree this size in an emergency situation unless nothing smaller can be found. That's not at all likely. Wild.

I always have my SAK as 'last resort knife' in my pocket and attached with a lanyard to my belt. So I would have to lose my pants before I'm without a knife. We actually refer to this technique as 'Beaver chewing'. The only 'dangerous' part was at 6.05 when you are sitting on your butt on the fall side of the tree and I wonder if you would get away in time if the tree suddenly gives.

@valeriansalad69044 жыл бұрын
@Professor Weaboo there are clearly trees which are small enough to break with your hands behind him... I don't like minecraft either, but he's right.. In a forest this dense, it would be a waste of time unless the wood was for shelter. In another environment this cutting technique could prove to be useful.

A quality 1095 Carbon Steel knife should hold an edge against wet wood. It might be worthwhile to use a rock and knock off the hardened bark first. Although really, you could also make a stone axe by chipping an edge onto a wedge-shaped piece.

I've been struggling with finding a fixed blade EDC that isn't going to get me hassled every five seconds is a pain... already have a decent camp/survival knife, but want to try and downsize... might try and mess around with a nice folder... take it camping a few times and use it as a primary bushcrafter... good video... shows how one can be a minimalist when it comes to survival or if you really want to try and camp in a couple of ounces... like you said earlier you are really never going to chop a tree that size even for most solo camping trips, let alone for a last ditch survival situation... why are there so many toxic fuckboys in your comment section though?... you might want to find a way to moderate that... I feel like I got cancer from a few of them... some kid bitch in about the low quality of the video... most people don't need to watch their bushcraft and survival videos in high definition to get a little realism half chub... as far as batoning a knife... ya it's probably not healthy for the blade but that's why you get a knife that can handle it... a knife you can't baton with is a knife that's not reliable (at least as a main). overall good video but you need to delete some of these 13 year old bitch comments... they're annoying
