the only problem is sometimes the anatomy can make it harder to clean. my friend (i got his permission to talk about this from him) cannot retract his foreskin so he cannot clean it or use condoms, etc so he wants it removed because that's when it becomes an issue for infections and other problems because usually you can retract it so clean it etc.

I am 29 and had a circumcision 6 months ago. I suffered from phimosis which meant I couldn’t retract my foreskin at all. I knew something wasn’t right for years but out of embarrassment I didn’t get it looked at until last year. There was sensitivity after the operation, however the pain was not too bad really. The difficulty was keeping the wound dry and just looking after it properly with bandages and there was some bleeding from stitches following erections before the stitches healed fully. I was back at in the office the next day, in the gym a week after and running/playing competitive sport 3 weeks after. I have found the sensitivity is improved, sex feels 10 x better and it is also much more hygienic. With phimosis I found some dripping after urinating which has also totally been resolved. In short, don’t worry if you need a circumcision, there is nothing to be embarrassed about and you will be much happier after getting it sorted. I just wish I would’ve done it sooner. It took about a week before it eased any noticeable amount but even then it was still sensitive. In the first few days I kept the bandage on and wore loose fitting clothes. When the bandage the doctor put on came off I began applying a bandage myself every morning to stop it rubbing in my underwear and then slept naked to get used to it rubbing against bed sheets etc as I was sleeping.

I live in a country that it is the norm to be cut. Many times the parents decide to cut it for the childs sake to integrate into society (not feel weird in the public showers and with future partners). Sometimes people justify it as a medical procedure in order to keep the place more clean. I believe that today we have running water and it is easier than ever to teach guys to clean the under skin. From many guys I've heard that it makes them have problems with the working of the organ and deriving pleasure from the act. It is not commonly talked about guys having problems in the sex department but it sadly a thing. Because of all of that I think that it is unnecessary to cut your child. Just teach them to clean it well...

I’ve been cut and I’m glad because ever girl I’ve been with is satisfied and I don’t know why people saying u lose sensitive acting as if it’s by a lot when it’s really just a small percentage loss. I can feel everything really good and can have longer and better sex. But if your uncut and don’t like it you’ll have to go through that painful surgery so I guess I’m happy with being cut as a baby. While I agree there should be no shame either way, the fact remains that both get shamed daily. Males that have not been circumcised are shamed and told they are “gross” and treated as if they are filthy. circumcised males that were cut as babies literally had NO say in the matter of whether or not they had their most sensitive part cut off and the main reason so many parents do this to their babies..? “It looks better” How is that not shaming the natural male body? Also.. Can we not use euphemisms and inaccurate terms? It’s circumcised (or more accurately, genitally altered) and intact. Also fun fact: the vast majority of the world’s men are intact. It’s typically only the US that think we need to cut a normal, healthy, functional part off of a newborn’s body.

The problem lies in most people who are cut had no consent to it at all. circumcision was good for arid areas where it was hard to clean the genital areas becasue the lack of water. There are no reason today except for rare cases to actually cut your child. It should ne something adults chose on their own to have done or not. The parents should not do it just because of tradition. There is also always risk for the surgery going wrong thus leading to complications. I kow you are cut youn but please highlight the need for consent especially when it is something important.

This was a decision, made by your parents to remove a very intimate body part that is largely left alone in most of the world. I’m from the UK and it’s just not done routinely except for religious reasons or for medically necessary reasons. We have two boys who were born here in the US. I showed my hubby the short docu-film “the elephant in the room”. He couldn’t watch it. Our boys are intact. If they want to remove their foreskin, then they can go to a urologist when they’re older. But I really don’t get why people do it. There’s just not the medical evidence to back it up or necessitate the procedure. And so many of my friends’ sons had to go back for a second corrective procedure because the OB (yes, OB, not pediatric urologist) messed it up at birth. Why would you do that to your newborn? Ugh! Sorry, feel strongly about this one.
