Hey Folks! Submitted for your approval, we have our 2nd Commander build for Outlaws of Thunder Junction - this time featuring the ogre that prefers to punch through time rather than leap through it - Obeka, Splitter of Seconds.
In this build we'll be aiming to get the maximum advantage out of Obeka's ability to generate us extra upkeeps by, of course, stuffing the deck to the absolute brim for us to get extra usage out of - ranging from value generating sources to help enable us to damage dealing sources to harm our opponents - along with a splash of monarch centric entries that benefit from us holding the crown on our upkeep (which Obeka can steal back as she cracks in then immediately let us take advantage of) as well as The Initiative focused entries that both generate us extra value as we speedrun through the undercity and become even better after we've cleared it. That, coupled with ways to empower Obeka so she can hit harder (to grant us even more upkeeps), bypass blockers (to reliably get us those upkeeps), and stay alive for as long as possible (since our opponents won't let us get away with the value she generates us if they can help it) - Obeka will have all the tools she'll need to speed up the clock down to our opponents defeat.

Hey Grazzet, been watching these videos, and they’re great! Whenever you finish with Thunder Junction commanders, I’ve wanted to suggest a possible video series on the beginner commander decks, it would be a fun challenge build to try and make them viable.

Excellent build, as always! Integrating cards with the Initiative was an original way to keep the budget low while making the deck interesting to play! After seeing a few games where Obeka gets immediately and repeatedly targeted with removal, I wonder if adding a few instants to protect her more (in the style of "Not Dead After All" for instance) might make the build more consistent. Great work and I look forward to the next one!

True - getting 3 non-legendary clones of Obeka every time it swings is a fantastic way for the build to generate even more upkeeps for use to use and abuse!

Nice build, was considering building her so seeing some ideas here works good. It's sad that the specific cards (yikes on the Creeping Bloodsucker) are getting so much price hike, but that's the nature of TCGs. Thanks for the video as always.

And yeah, I know that price spikes happen but it does seem kind of crazy that almost every single high power cards that was relatively inexpensive 3 months ago is now either barely within budget or outright out of it because of the appearance of a single commander.... Ah well, guess we'll have to wait on reprints....

Glad you enjoyed it and yeah, those constant price increases were super annoying - to the point that I had to re-adjust the deck while I was building it since the Courts in it kept rising in price.... (they are still going up too!). Then regarding Riku, lets just say that anyone that sufferers from AP (Analysis Paralysis) may want to steer clear of this guy, because the will be packing the most option riddled spells we've ever seen in his arsenal. Then regarding AI-recording - honestly I am not against it since if I had a AI with my voice as a template it would shave off 8 - 9 hours of recording and sound editing from my builds - allowing me to make more content - but I don't think the technology is quite there yet.

Ouch... That stings a bit, especially when considering how many re-writes and times I had to test this build because of the constant price fluctuation's in order to maintain performance without going over budget.....

@@GrazzetMTG don't know what this guys on about. i playtested it and it and it played very well. got out of hand very fast and i was unable to keep up with the triggers though so i gave up and just mechanized um.

@@GrazzetMTG Nah, you good, been testing this out a bit with a couple minor changes (swapped out Wayfarer's for Thought Vessel as a personal preference and sorta did my own thing with the landbase) and nah this thing works great, noticeably better than the... two attempts I made at cooking it up previously LOL

@@GrazzetMTG Don't worry mate, it plays well. I've built a similar deck and it's a lot of fun to pilot. I've got a few more suspend cards in there, but that was due to what I had on hand.
