THE MARLO ACE CUTTING ROUTINE! IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOREVER FOR A TUTORIAL ON THIS! THANK YOU!!! Also a tip from Harry Lorayne: if you dont want to cull cards, just spread the deck with the faces toward you and just PLACE the aces at the top of the deck while you talk to the audience. They'll be too distracted by what you're saying to really notice, and they dont know what you're up to anyway!

Hi everybody. Very nice trick, I love it ! For those of you who can't do a Faro Shuffle (sadly I'm one of them...), here's a hint : Just after the spec shuffled, I do the spread cull BUT instead of culling only the Ace, I cull the card right above the Ace as well. So my spread cull ends with Aces in first, third, fifth and seventh position on top of the deck. I'm now ready to add the 15 cards as described in the video. Hope this makes sense :-)

*A study of this trick* I've been performing this original ver, yet laymen found it too repetitive and boring. Then, I modified it as follows: 1st ace: I cut 2nd ace: spectator cuts 3rd ace: card at any number 4th ace: color change But still, laymen only feel surprised about the 2nd and 4th ace appearance, so I just get rid of this trick from my repertoire. Sometimes we as magicians thought its powerful, but laymen's view is the real judge.
@AMillionCardTricks5 жыл бұрын
Great approach! I agree, laymen could potentially get bored of you always cutting to the aces. Always a good idea to spice up the routine by changing each phase!

@@AMillionCardTricks take a look at Ben Earl's approach in his book "Less Is More". Although Ed Marlo is amazing, I believe Ed Marlo's Ace routine has a slow/mundane rhythm in which they are found. Earl I think fixes this with his Real Ace cutting routine which is very improvisational; watch Earl ACTUALLY cut to the aces in his "Ben Earl-Fool Us performance (he doesn't teach this in his book however) but the feel of it is the same. xDoubleLiftx take a look at Earl and Vernon's variations on the Henry Christ Routine: it has almost the same beats as you have-You cut to the ace, 2nd time spectator estimates, 3rd ace "stop trick", 4th color change (e.g DL or TC). I have tried putting any card at any number in there but it messes up the rhythm so I'd probably do the psychological stop force/Dani Da Ortiz's work on the stop force.

Awesome card trick. Love the routine. May I suggest that If its second from the top, that you show that the Bottom card is not an ace, nor the top, get rid of the top and bottom card to the middle of the deck. Tell your spectator you want them to find the last ace. (Currently the top card now) riffle shuffle once or twice more keeping the last ace on top. False cut. Then use my favorite force. Cut it for real this time keeping a pinky break on the top ace. Tell them you will riffle down the pack. Let them call out stop when they want, and pull off at the pinky. This can also be achieved if the last ace is on the bottom . Get rid of the top and bottom card ( wrist kill the bottom one) double undercut to top. And you’re all set. Just an idea if you think pushing that card in is sketchy or you keep flashing as you push it in. Thanks again!

I’ll keep practising this, but keep getting stuck getting the last ace to second position. 😔
@AMillionCardTricks5 жыл бұрын
If you have trouble controlling the ace from the method taught in the video, then you can do an alternative way: Third ace is found, and then you can square up the deck leaving the final ace somewhere in the middle. Then say, “for the last ace we’ll do something different, I’m not sure where it is, it’s somewhere buried in the middle of the deck...” as you say this, take the deck and look through it to yourself so you can see the faces, and just cut the cards so that the ace ends up second from the top/bottom. Whichever side you prefer! But don’t make it obvious that you’re looking for the ace. So when you find it, cut it to the top/bottom while *looking the spectator in the eyes* while you say “yeah I have no idea where it is, but let’s try this.” And do it very casually, don’t make it seem like it’s a big deal.
