The last person, when they started singing happy birthday I literally screamed. My mom was born in Brazil and every birthday we have, she and my dad would sing in Portuguese! Not that the US doesn't have a heavy influence in what's going on now, but I'd argue that the conflict has been occurring for a LONG time and is far more deep rooted. And the Holocaust was only the final catalyst and proof that the jewish people are not protected anywhere, after 2000 years of diaspora for most jews. The lucky smaller bunch maintened their life and presence on the land throughout that entire time, it is well documented in official records of whatever foreign entity controled the land at different times, historical literature, photographs and family trees (jewish people who have had no diaspora experience because their ancestors never left). I suggest anyone who wants to be educated enough to form an opinion read actual history books, even read a Wikipedia page for fuck's sake.
