Cute beagle surprised by snow

We had our first big snowfall of the season here in Chicago last night, about five inches. At first Oliver was a bit perturbed by all the new snow, but he soon got into it. Watch as he frolicks in the snow, steals my glove from me, and goes for a little run. For everyone in the midwest and northeastern United States, I hope you and your beagles enjoy the snow today!

@@crcr1 My dog is about 35 cm high, 14 years old and has never worn 'dog boots' or a jacket in his life. It's so unnecessary, and most dogs don't even like wearing them. It makes me cringe when I see people putting their dogs in jackets, and boots are even worse

@@laurasanchez7105 Boots protect their feet from corrosive salt on the ice, from blistering heat and from other dangers. Service dogs are fitted with boots as needed in emergency response. Veterinarians treat foot pad injuries on dogs all the time. Not sure why protecting a dog's feet would make you cringe. It's a caring thing to do. ^..^

That bark is what they do when they're tracking. There's a chance that because the snow is there he can't smell jack shit except the scent of those footprints and is on his way to kill whoever left them.

Yes, the comments about his coat are so fitting. He looks like a floppy-eared detective-Beagleholmes. He is the best. And the comment about someone having a beagle and then wanting a quiet dog. Why have a beagle, is the perfect response. They are jolly, vocal, intelligent, active and friendly beings; so why does one want to tame their character? You are the perfect beagle-dad. You let Oliver just go on being himself - a beagle. Wonderful to watch anytime, but especially when one has had a lousy day.

Oliver will tolerate a coat but he draws the line at boots! I wish he would wear them... sometimes we use Musher's Secret wax on his paws to protect them from the salt people spread on the sidewalks.

Oliver's a typical beagle. He runs away, you call for them, eventually they'll either stop & look at you, or they'll "trot" back to you, but as soon as you get a couple of feet away from them, they turn & take off!! AND ... rhey have this big smile on their face the whole time!!!

That is so excellent; their stuff is _rugged._ The description of the coat on their website starts with: "Squirrels don't chase themselves." 😂 And "the signature corduroy collar keeps the look classic." They were too funny, my Bear dog couldn’t stop eating it! It was an “all u can eat buffet”... lol. The best kind 😀

I had a Beagle (d. 1989). Oliver reminds me of my dog. Nice tan, cold weather coat (he just needs booties) and funny stealing your glove! Plus, the Christmas and Holiday recordings were funny...from Oliver chosing his own present to opening gift packages. I remember my dog in his first snow: he quietly roamed, always sniffing as Beagles do, and jumped up towards the falling snow and loved eating the powder. When my dog was in the deep snow, the Beagle would get fully buried and jump forward again and again to escape (the deep snow), only to be buried again when landing back down in the snow; hiding under connifer trees (because there was no snow by the tree's base) for a short reprieve and funny when seeing a muzzle stick out from the tree's lower branches. Treasure your time with Oliver; it's indeed fleeting; but Beagles living 10-15 years gives a long time together. The recordings are a nice record you have for your own memories, but also share with the world. I've often wondered where Oliver lives (general area). Best wishes, Oliver, and family. Beagles, so curious, happy, playful, loving and adventurous, are a great dog breed.

We haven't had a really big snowfall in the past two winters, but perhaps someday he'll get to do that thing you described where he jumps out of the snow, almost like a dolphin jumping out of the water.
