That terrain looks a piece of cake compared to What I need to do

Just started today, so many fallen trees and underbrush. I got about 100 yards in 8 hours

Awesome! Very similar to how make trails in my woods

It’s definitely a very rewarding feeling when you start to see the progress! I though about hiring someone to clear a trail for me, but doing it by hand makes it mean a lot more.

Great job! Funny how the kids disappear when hard work needs to be done- LOL!!

If they don’t end up with poison ivy this week it will be a miracle! Their idea of helping is playing in the woods...

@@UnderParAcres haha!! Let’s hope not! And keep away from snakes!

I’m not letting them go any further in until the full trail is done for that exact reason!

Use a forester blade to cut saplings at ground level.

I’m looking that up now because I definitely have small stumps that I want to clean up. Thanks for the advice!!

I got my little 5 acres to make my trail. But I’m excited to do it.

That's all you need! You'll have a blast building the trails and even more using them!!

What is your plan when it comes to water? If the water is lays on the trail, you will have a mess in no time.

We had record amounts of rain this summer which prevented me from getting the trail all the way through the woods but it helped me learn the weak spots of the trail. Overall it did well but over time I’ll spread a lot of rock and gravel over the weak spots. I’ve got a few small streams that I’ll have to build bridges over as well but so far the John Deere Gator has been able to get through the worst of spots which has been nice!

@@UnderParAcres I understand, I'm a Park Ranger and we had a very wet summer as well. We added five miles of trail along with our existing trails that require maintenance. I learn something new each day. Water is the root of 90% of all problems with the trails. We have an arsenal of equipment on hand, but it doesn't help if our planning is poor. Take Care.

Did you have any issues with the tires on the Gator and the stumps....? Looks like if they were not cut good and flat to the ground they might pop a tire...?
@UnderParAcres9 ай бұрын
I was pretty careful with where I drove the Gator for that reason. I avoided all the small stumps, and then eventually used the box blade on the tractor to rip them all out of the ground!
