this is true in a larger sense too. In a sense one approach to bodybuilding overall could be "do one thing for a while...then do something different". High reps for a while, then low. Peak contraction for a while, then length contraction. pre exhaust for a while, then straight sets. Dont ever just grind away on the same exact thing until way past the point of boredom

Lotta bro science in this vid. The facts are if your energy consumption exceeds your energy intake, you lose weight. This is basic thermodynamics. Your maintenance level is whatever your energy burn rate is + homeostasis. What this guy is saying is your “maintenance” level becomes 2000 because you start eating that amount and your body gets “used” to it? No. Your body can compensate a bit, but it’s not like if you start eating 500 calories a day then that’s your new maintenance level 😂
@cretetippen8741
@cretetippen8741 2 жыл бұрын
not necessarily true, because your maintenance does become the amount of calories you eat because your body will hedge to the weight of your average consumed calories. even still that’s not what he was talking about, he was talking about metabolism. cutting calories down a lot will drain your metabolism making your maintenance lower. thermodynamics are not simple and are very different to each person’s body and body type. he mentioned metabolism multiple times in the same conversation. following your BMR and adjusting your calories off of that is a good baseline, but will not always be enough to give the desired results depending on the person.

Adding a pound of muscle burns 6-12 Kcal per day. So my guess is LOTS of bro science here. I’d like to see what data they’re relying on to say otherwise other than anecdotal.

I don't understand how going into a cut gives you new maintenance calories. Is that because you lose muscle with it? But what if you kept that muscle?
@SuperPlaya316
@SuperPlaya316 Жыл бұрын
It's because someone that is smaller is likely to burn a lot less calories vs a 300 lb person who burns a shit ton of calories, that's why when bigger people go on a deficit they lose weight quickly

It has more to do with Metabolic adaptation. Long cuts lead to a slow metabolism, so cut within a timeframe that avoids a metabolic shift. (Ive read metabolic adaptation can happen in 2 weeks but thats why im here to get more info on it.) Another perspective, a cut is always relative to maintainance/bulk otherwise you'd just be cutting from a cut, which would be hell and inefficient

I’m 5’3 110lbs. What is the max calories that you think I could eat without significant weight gain. I eat 1,700 a day now and strength train 4 days a week. I’m still starving even with higher protein.
@dokuaccount3172
@dokuaccount3172 Жыл бұрын
That's not much, I easily eat double the amount of that and I'm not twice your size. So I think you can go over 2000. Keep in mind that adding calories always means a slight weight gain (more food in the system more glycogen in the muscles). As long as you do not have to hit a weight class thats no problem, because you won't see a difference

Don't go on a cut because your cut calories will become your new maintenance and you should INCREASE CALORIES and bulk in order to cut...? That's pretty high up on my list of dumbest things I've ever heard.

@rachelmel

@Jacob Summers yup! It's definitely a smart move. Sometimes, though, if you're already pretty over fat, it's going to add so much weight that you'll need to cut for a long time. In those cases, it can be better to cut first. Always depends on the individual situation!

Unless you on steroids like some of these KZbin fitness gurus, be very careful taking advice. I would never in my right mind stuff my face with 3500-5000 calories, risk my blood pressure, diabetes stroke and all this other stuff!! If you want to bill just go 100-200 calories over maintenance, these guys like to keep you fat so they can make money 💰 😉

LOL, Nobody told anyone to eat 3000-3500 calories; Adam is a 6'3 male and is pretty active. A 5'5 female or anyone not near where he's at probably should not eat that much - and most would eat WAY less. I'm a 5'6 female, 147 lbs and maintain on about 2800 calories. They talked for a good bit about how it depends... Edit: I maintain on about 2550 lol. Not sure where I got 2800 from. Sorry about that.
