I had 2 ash trees 1/4 this size professionally treated (injected insecticide) for $300 in 2015. Killed the infestation and they haven't been re-infected (crosses fingers) The protection last 3 to 4 years but apparently the beetles had killed all the local ash and disappeared locally. At least that's my guess or the insecticide is way longer lasting than advertised.

Congratulations on ½ mil subs! TIP; on your final cutoff, when your chain inevitably starts to pinch try cutting backwards. So the top edge of your chain is doing the work. It then leaves all the chips and dust inside the cut instead of outside on the ground. That helps support the weight of the above log and significantly reduces the pinch. I tried that on a very heavy 43" sugar maple grandfather of a tree and it really did help. Lo v e watching your work.

I had a big tree taken down and I had them leave the tree so I could cut it up into firewood. John, I have off loaded 1000 pound rolls of EPDM Rubber roofing/PVC products, including 4 wheeled generators/night lights many many times with the blessing of the machines owner. We had 2 80' JlG manlifts for the business. Its says 500 lbs capacity, but surely you are aware of the large margins that engineers factor in for safety, sometime even orders of magnitude. These are rugged machines and they have never given us an issue insofar as safety. Mind you, most often we were controlling the machine from the ground controlls with men on the roof rigging the loads. Essentially, we were using the manlifts as ad hoc cranes for our convenience (even though we had a crane, elsewhere of course). We did roofing and iron work. I personally have off loaded the same while in the basket (not smart, I know). Machine age, rust, and fatigue are definite enemies of steel structural members, so, keeping an eye on these is paramount - duh!. I love your contenet and your work ethic. Thank you for these relaxing Friday videos. You ought be proud of your setup and the life you've made for your family. God bless.

No haul off other than what they wanted for firewood and I burned the rest. That was around $ 1,000 and was a great deal. Enjoy your videos. It's enjoyable to watch your escapdes. I had the thought that the remainder of the tree would have been the perfect pedestal for some decorative piece. A bird bath or something along those lines. I don't know if hummingbirds are in your area. They would have been very entertaining. The stump could have been treated so it wasn't a bug abode. Then you cut off what was remaining at ground level. Oh well now you'll have to do the ring of fire. Make sure you are playing Johnny Cash's song, Ring of Fire as you torch the stump. That would only be appropriate. Waiting for the Earl Schibe rendention of painting Large Marge. She deserves to be dressed up.
