I'm cutting 0.5 acres that is long and not very wide, but has too many obstacles for a riding mower to ever be useful. Is this a better option than say a Cub Cadet CC800? If not to both, what would be a better option than this if so? It took me around 48 minutes to mow front, back, and pasture with a 46" riding tractor, and the price wasn't worth it for how much trimming was left from places that 46" couldn't get to. Thanks in advance!

Also sorry for a stupid question. Just regular guy here who likes your channel because I find grass cutting therapeutic. What's the use of the throttle button? Why would you need to adjust that?
@isaacartavia62785 жыл бұрын
If I am answering your question correctly its to increase the speed or RPM of the engine so you have proper speed when cutting the grass. You only drop the throttle when your needing to talk to someone or slow down slowly to enter a tight entrance. Hope I've answered your question.

I have spent about 1 hr using the mower and noticed it challenging to make 180 degree turns without minor damage to relatively wet saturated turf. I am running it in speed 2 with the engine at full throttle. I am mindful of initiating the turn by reversing the inside wheel (so both wheels are turning opposite directions) but still have had some difficulty. If you have any thoughts on this it would be greatly appreciated.
@DansVlog4 жыл бұрын
Brown Eagle 🦅 You always do a 3 point turn. Watch how I reverse my direction when I am mowing back and forth. I never turned the mower in one spot. You always go up and turn to the right stop come back and turn to the left stop go forward and finish turning to the right and that is a three point turn. No tire should ever move on the grass unless it is actually spinning forward or backwards and that’s for walk behind zero turns and standers
@dannysorden83102 жыл бұрын
You actually need to learn to put the pivot wheel in reverse ( keep it moving) when turning

Turf tracers are the best walk behind mower on the market. I’ve owned all the sizes from 36”-60”. The only problem with the 36” and 48” is how light the front ends are. I’m sure you noticed how it likes to pop up when taking off and hitting bumps in the yard it gets even worse when a sulky is attached. Nothing a weight kit won’t fix ( homemade or OEM).

My advice is to work for someone for awhile because it might not be right for you, as for me it's the one because you can't break it with a hammer and it is sturdy. If you get electric start parts it complicates the quick fixs in the field. So keep it simple.

No you don't have to be even front to back. In fact, the proper technique when bagging is to raise the front up one click so air can suck into the deck and easily flow back into the bag.

Hey Dan. Looking good. Now for a sulky dont go cheap. The good ones are around 300. You can get cheap ones for around 185 but you get what you pay for when it comes to sulkys and try to get solid tires. On our 48 turf tracer i had my welder construct a metal plate to go in place of the discharge chute. Works great because when going in between mulch beds and other tight areas where no matter what direction you're cutting it would be throwing where you dont want it. When we get to these areas we flip it down when we come back out in the open you flip it back up.

I personally don’t like a velky on a walk behind mower because If I was going to stand and not walk I would of just saved up a little more and bought a stander and not a walk behind
@DansVlog5 жыл бұрын
I get what you’re saying but walk behinds and standers are two totally separate animals. I’m not going to be knocking a stander with what I say but a walk behind has a much longer reach to make it easier to get under things like tree branches or whatever might be in the yard, they weigh about 150 pounds less and then you have to add the operators weight if you’re standing on it whereas with a walk behind, the weight will not increase if you stand on a Valky so that could be the difference of 300 to 350 pounds less weight on the turf as you’re mowing, that can be significant in rainy climates. Also, walk behinds are easier to work on, especially changing out Blades. There are a lot of pros to standers and to walk behinds but it really all boils down to your preference and what you’re going to use the machine for. I’ve used standers and I’ve used walk behinds and I just simply find walk behinds to be far more convenient a little less expensive and just as productive with the right operator.
