I like to regularly add a little fuel injector/carburetor cleaner additive to the fuel tank to keep all orifices of the carburetor clean.

I agree with you. The problem is fuel starvation. Some flakes clogging the next screen or finding their way into the carburetor.

Running on choke or partial choke is a lean fuel problem. Restrict the air and it runs ok says it’s not getting enough fuel.
@rosstheoliverman Жыл бұрын
Yup. It’s definitely not getting enough fuel when it plugs off coming out of the tank.

Sometimes electric problems can be fixed by pulling out the choke because the increased fuel mixture is easier to burn

I wonder if the porevious owner bought the modification kit that allows plastic gas jugs with those stupid safety spouts to pour more quickly. It requires you to drill a hole in the jug for a vent, which might explain the shavings. I guess that tractor is never gonna work right until someone finally bites the bullet and drains the gas and flushes the tank.
@rosstheoliverman Жыл бұрын
I got it pretty good after this video so hopefully it lasts for him. I drained all the gas out and filtered it.

I still think the final solution is to drain the tank, pull it out and rinse it out. Without a cleaned fuel supply this could go on forever. But your the man on-site and I could be totally wrong on this.

Drain the fuel into your 5-gallon containers using your metal farm funnel. Put a coffee filter in the bottom of the funnel. We used to use a felt hat to filter fuel from a contaminated tank. It would filter out water and all the crap. Plus, when you are draining the tank using the fuel strainer on the tank, you just might get it to plug up again and verify your problem with crap in the tank. We mechanics always hated to have to remove a tank and hope we could get it totally clean. Great video. Watch out for black cats crossing your path or pointing at your carburetor work.
@rosstheoliverman Жыл бұрын
That’s exactly what I did after I finally got it to act up at the end of the video. I wanted to get it to do the problem consistently so I could make sure I fixed it when done.
@Ham68229 Жыл бұрын
@@rosstheoliverman I was going to suggest this in the last video especially when you kept mentioning installing a stand pipe. Problem lies within the tank itself, which needs cleans. Great video as always. Cheers :)

Frustrating problem that will likely only be resolved by pulling the fuel tank and totally cleaning it out. A stand pipe and emphasis to owner on using CLEAN fuel may prevent relapses. Always seemed to me that filling from a tank(with an in-line filter) is less problematic than filling from cans.
@rosstheoliverman Жыл бұрын
I figured that he can clean it out if need be. No sense in me running up a bill for something he can do himself. Thanks Don!

Amazon has a filter for in tank, end of the fuel line, that I believe would make a good stand pipe. Also, at this point, I would drain the tank and take the water hose to it and give it a good washing out. I was having the same trouble with my WD45. Took off the sediment bowl and washed it out. Then took the air hose to it. Let it set for a day and put it all back together (with a stand pipe). That was 5 or 6 years ago. So far so good. 👍🇺🇲🚜🛻🌱
