[EDIT: guys, the U-cut is on purpose, it’s historically accurate and helps with styling. I was only surprised that I ended up with U-shape when I was just trying to quickly cut all of the hair, but that didn’t matter since the final effect was supposed to be a U-cut anyway!] lol I think I used the thinning scissors upside down

Also, usually when people cut their own hair it ends up in the U shape because you're pulling all the hair forward so you can see it. At least that's what you're usually trying to achieve. Curls/thick hair can hide a lot XD

I was so nervous for her when she pulled out the thinning shears. But it turned out great!
@mchobbit29514 жыл бұрын
@@maderaverdes I had to insist that a hairdresser give me a 20s bob style (not that it turned out like one). She kept saying how she wouldn't do it because my hair is curly/wavy. I pointed out that I knew that my model's hair was also naturally curly. She kept insisting that "it will bounce up". Not if you cut it to the correct length, it won't. She eventually did it and while it looked more "professionally done" (but not like me) when she styled it, the difference between this and the cut I gave myself last time when in its natural state as well as pin curled? It's very minimal and my own cut was probably more vintage because she clearly just gave me a modern bob. I swear, they used to know how to cut curly/wavy hair short (we have plenty of photos and footage as proof) but the skill has been lost when it was decided that only straight hair is beautiful, all these heat tools were invented and hairdressers started not being able to dry cut (or only dry cut if it involves straightening) to save their lives. I'm going to cut it by myself again next time. Might as well do some research while we are back in lockdown AGAIN.

I did the same thing a couple of years ago, then I realized that short hair can't just be washed "on the go", nor left alone and needs mandatory styling to be decent. I was a mess, there was no way I could be ready before 11 in the morning. I'm back to my long basic straight/wavy style with middle part... when I am inspired, I have the audacity to let it naturally curled with some gel and diffuser, but you just showed me how much I lack discipline and originality. Needless to say, you're gorgeous with this length.
@AlexaFaie4 жыл бұрын
I have hip length mostly straight hair with a wherever-my-hair-decides-to-fall-of-its-own-volition part. Because effort. Don't want any of it. I either leave it down, or if doing something where I need it out of the way it goes in a ponytail (say if cooking or I leave the house, which is rarely - has been rare since 2012) or if tidying then a bun. Gel burns my skin because I'm allergic to everything and never did anything other than make my hair flatter, and I have no idea what a diffuser is. So you win between us in the "I give a damn" stakes I think. You didn't mention how often you wash your hair. For me that's once a fortnight, or sometimes once a week, but no more than that. And then sometimes I just forget about the whole washing hair thing and it ends up going longer. I do actually really need to wash my hair now which I swear I'll get to any day now. Kinda keep forgetting to do it. I last washed it in March when I had an appointment to go to. So like, unless you can match that level of lack of discipline.... ROFL

karolina you're so beautiful and this haircut suits you beyond what i expected to be honest. it's so nice and you've done a great job for a "can't be bothered" or "improv" haircut. i cut my own hair but it's almost as long as yours was before you cut it. i'm not so brave as to cut it that short.

hairdresser here! you said you wanted it to be all the same length but it still turned out U shaped. it looks like you were over directing the hair from the back to the front, which would result in it being longer than the hair at the front as it travels further to reach the guide you set in the front. if you want it all the same length it has to be combed straight down, not on a diagonal, but this is hard to do on yourself so i would recommend cutting the front yourself to set the length guide then maybe getting someone to help you for the back? either way i support u in your endeavour, hope this helped
