Cutting off dreadlocks

Shaving my dreads after 7.5 years. Having locs is fun, but it's time to cut them off.
I was debating on going to a barber to cut my dreadlocks off, but it seemed like it wouldn't be hard to do it myself. I looked up "how to cut dreads" and couldn't find much, so I just got a pair of sharp scissors and went for it! After the locs were gone I took an electric hair clipper and shaved my head. It was actually super easy!
They were a little difficult to part with after having them for so long, but the feeling of cutting them off was incredibly refreshing!

After 7 years, I just cut my dreadlocks short yesterday. I am currently in the process of brushing them out. It's a long, difficult process and I'm having a bit of anxiety about it. They've been a part of me for so long now, but I feel that they became part of my identity and that felt wrong. I am more than my tangled hair :-) Your video is giving some courage, so thank you x

I do miss them sometimes. But I think I just needed a change of pace. Plus it's so nice and convenient to have short hair!

You can make a bun with them also a ponytail so they dont get in the way, you're crazy for not doing that especially rock climbing lol. there's a million ways to style locs! Hopefully you stored them just in case you want to crotchet them back on 😁

I always had difficulty with the bun, but if I get locs again I'll definitly try to get it down! And I did keep them so crocheting them back on is a possibility 😉

I have had dreads for 3 years now and I'm done with them also. It's the first hair style I have had that really made me feel whole, but the maintenance is too much for me now. I want to be able to easily wash my hair after a long day at work and not have to think about my dreads anytime I do an activity. I'm scared to cut them but I think it has to be done.

I'm with you, while its fun having them, the maintenance and general inconvenience of dreads outweighs the benefits. Having hair that is easy to wash and dry is so incredibly nice! If you're ready to cut em mate go for it. It's bittersweet, but when it's time, it's time.

5:57 yes, people recognize you because of you hair, i had the same reason for cutting my dreadlocks years ago, but i can tell u that ... getting any attention (even false )is better than nothing :) :( haha ,anyway i cant imagine me with dreadlocks now when im 36 . Peace ! Sending Love

WHY? Some people would pay a fortune to get dreads like yours were. Cutting dreads is one (dumb) thing, but just stop putting this shamefull kind of scene on the net.
