I would use the iron on pvc and use that to decorate fabrics, pencil cases, t shirts etc

Hi Tami, you can but it is a little more difficult because it will stretch a bit. We tried regular easyweed and it was fine. You can also use smaller paper punches to cut HTV with.

this might be a long shot...but do you guys think using a scoring stylus in a cricut machine will get the same embossing result as this? I want to make a custom design, but I dont know if it will take to the vinyl with the stylus alone

I'm enjoying this video and in search of more on the embossing/die cutting machines with vinyl. Both the adhesive and the iron on both today. I really want to apply vinyls to thick card stock materials and see what happens with the deeper 3D emboss and cut shapes that make small embellishments. Also think those dangle earring shapes done with some metalic vinyls and the embossing and cutting combinations are pretty endless. Also for quicker bur rarely used alphabets for Water bottles etc. and sewing projects where I can add someones name to the pocket cover on a tote like canvas. Of course for fabrics the iron on vinyls are the best choice while paper and harder surfaces are better for the self adhesives. I'm curious if anyones done much and what they do with build up of adhesive on their dies however. Some solvents might attact the mixed m edia plastic and metal 3D embellishment dies by Sizzix for example. Anyway stay safe everyone and thank you Expresssions Vinyl for this helpful demo. Helps to get the juices going.

To transfer the image you can use a transfer tape, or you can use it as a sticker and just apply it to your project.

Hi Cynthia, when you are using the dies, you will cut into the plates a bit. I keep 2 different sets to work with. One that is always for the dies and have the cuts in them and one that I just use for the embossing folders. Hopefully this helps a little.

I tried this but with mine, it doesn't cut through the vinyl all the way, only the release paper! Not sure why 😒

Try some test cuts and adjust as needed. Every machine, blade, and batch of vinyl may vary enough to require setting adjustments. Place in the machine backing/carrier sheet side down to the vinyl to be cut is facing up. I hope this helps!

i have a cuttlebug like you do, and i am wanting to cut Heat Transfer Vinyl and beable to iron or press the design onto a project, What are the steps i need to take to do so?

You can basically follow the same steps you would for the vinyl and just cut though the vinyl part and not the cover sheet. However, the Heat Transfer vinyl is a lot more flexible. You'd want to use a very simple die without a lot of extra pieces. At least that is what we found when using it. Hopefully that helps.

I want to thank you for the info. I tested it out with 'Letters' to make sure they come out the right way, 1...cutting pad, 2...HTV ( Shiney side UP), STEEL RULE die, ( blade side DOWN), cutting plate, run through die cutting machine, weed, lay on project ( shirt,bag), press with iron or EASY PRESS ( is what I have), peel off carrier sheet, use Teflon sheet ( is what I use), and press again according to directions...Turned out awesome for my first HTV project...Thanks again for your help...

Hi Suzy, we tried a few different images in it and they worked as long as they were very basic. The heat transfer vinyl tends to stretch a bit and it is a little more difficult to cut through the carrier sheet. Please let us know if you decide to try it. We'd love to see your project.
