Hello. It’s time to do some “brutal” cutting. Thanks to your tutelage I am enjoying my dahlia growing. My question is - can you speak to conditioning? Some put their dahlia stems in very hot water and leave to cool overnight. Do you do anything besides cool clean water? TY

Hi Leslie, searing is a technique we use for difficult flowers such as sunflower, but we don’t sear our Dahlias. If they are wilting we might add citric acid to the water to increase the rate of water uptake. Hope this helps.

Hi, last year I found a seed packet of flowers I thought were pretty. they ended up being Dahlias. I put them in a container with small sunflowers but didn't realize how tall they got. i kept hacking away at them and they just would not stop!! hahahaha!. i gave up and just let them take over. THEY were so gorgeous that people stopped to look at them. Now I am hooked! I bought tons of tubers so now I am watching every youtube video i can find. yours are the best. I live in the USA in Finger Lakes NY. I think we have the same seasons as you from what I can tell. I doubt I will use them to make money. I just want to look at them! @@MoorfieldFarmFlowers

Its fashionable right now in the UK to grow Dahlia from seed - it a wonderful journey into the unknown because you cannot predict what flowers you will get, you might even have the next showstopper on your hands and that could make you a fortune.
