Hey viewers sorry for the late upload today we had a KZbin glitch but it's worth the wait! There is a lot happening in this video. During the job we can't spend too much time explaining every step, so just drop any questions you've got in the comments. How much does it cost? A new rod is about $6800 and we do the repair for less than a quarter of that 😎👍 And next time I will get it in one take for sure! 😂 Subscribe and hit the bell icon to turn on notifications so you don't miss our weekly uploads. 👇 🤳 Follow us online here: Instagram instagram.com/cutting_edge_engineering Facebook facebook.com/cuttingedgeengineeringaustralia/

Thanks for sharing in the description the factory replacement cost for this type of part. Your ability to refurbish back to OEM specs at a cost saving while likely still being able to provide a quicker turnaround time than shipping is a benefit for your business. Your attention to the details will serve your business well. Love the outtakes with your wife’s infectious laugh. Give the safety officer a belly rub for me and stay well.

Even though I will never ever get to use these skills I enjoy learning how these things are repaired I never learnt to weld but really appreciate how its all done and the different methods of rebuilding the inside of eyes etc so thanks for teaching me new skills. What I appreciate is the attention to detail that you take to make sure everything is correct before you start the process of repairing the damaged item

Back when I was laying a lot of bead, we'd peen the hell out of new weld, or use needle guns to take the stress out of the weld while it was still hot. I'm guessing induction hardened 4140 might be a bit less prone to stress deflection, but there must be some issue with displacement sometimes.
@CuttingEdgeEngineering
@CuttingEdgeEngineering 3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate yeah on larger dia rods when heat is sucked out quicker we do use the needle scaler to avoid stress fractures. This sort of job it's not necessary

Hey mate thanks for always supporting the vids! Would probably be alright for DIY home projects, we scrap it for quality control reasons could have fracturing through the chrome along with the other damage but for shits and giggles would be alright. Shoot us an email will see what we can do 😎👍
