If you run a snake or string through the light conduit you can install liner then light faceplate, cut hole for liner then just pull the light cable back to electrical box. No need to take it apart that way. Good vid. I’ve done steel wall ingrounds with vermiculite bottoms for 25 years. I wonder the cost difference is with these. Might have to give one a try. Good vid.

@@all3pools it’s a drastic difference. In ground pools are extremely uncommon where I live so I’ve only gotten the chance to do one. I used the Stegmeier forms for the coping and the only thing I’d change is the way the liner kinda compressed the foam at the very top. Keep up the good work!

Ya on liners we use the aluminum bullnose when we can get it so it’s entrained in the coping and doesn’t try to pull the foam down, if we use a Cantilever form Like stegmeyer, we cut the inside form down like 4” and let concrete come out all the way to the face of the icf, giving it a sturdy place to set the liner track

Any reason you got an Eaytouch 8? That Superflo runs off constant power and is automated with a digital input cable, so the only thing running off of a relay is the light leaving 7 relays open. @Cake41579
@Cake41579 6 ай бұрын
It’ll last right up until the time that it doesn’t. It all depends on how the pool is taken care of and whether you “condition” the liner each year after drain down for cleaning or maintenance. A good conditioner we use is similar to a wax that’s used on vinyl wrap. It helps restore the flexible properties to the liner that’s so crucial to its ability to remain in use.

Is that a fabric type of material your using as padding under the liner? Back in the late 1980’s we started using 1/8 inch closed cell foam on the shallow end of the pools basically for the comfort factor(we build a 10” concrete wall with a 3,500 psi pea stone mix poured pool bottom)We had problems with the liner sliding/wrinkling because of the foam padding on the floor so we stopped using it after 2 seasons.

I didn’t see any rebar or bonding. Do you add rebar in your concrete?
@all3pools
@all3pools 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is rebar in the thickened footers and it passed bonding inspection, then they do another one on wall rebar bonding, then another on decking within 5’ of the edge, passed all 3, I’ll try to show it in future vids, just try to keep vids reasonable length

Great job sir! I’m actually building one for my familly right now. I have a question about the liner track. Do you use a particular track and how do you install it? You set it in the concrete or you screw it on top after the concrete is poured? Have you done any liners over concrete stairs ?
@all3pools
@all3pools 3 жыл бұрын
If you can get the aluminum bullnose that’s powder coated it’s the easiest, it’s in short supply right now…. On icf we just glue it on with great stuff liquid nails foam, take your time to set it perfect because there’s no good way to adjust once it cures…. Then before we pour the walls, we put hex head metal screws in the bottom flange like you would into a metal or plastic pool but we leave them up a bit to grab in the concrete, form the outside edge of your coping and pour it with the wall!

Great job on the videos! One question. Could you pour the entire slab around the pool up to the coping at once to only have the concrete finisher come out once and make it probably easier to keep the stamp finish the same or is it important to keep the slap separate from the pool walls? We get a bit of ground frost where I live so it might move the slab a bit. Thanks!

I’ve never thought of energy saving potential for an ICF pool. How much would you say is saved vs a steel/vinyl liner pool when heating? Northern climate.
@all3pools
@all3pools 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t have imperial data from personal pools I’ve built but hopefully after this winter I will…. The one we hooked up before last winter, which was ridiculously cold in mo, seemed like it was heating for about a third of a comparable Gunite…. But their gas was running their house and pool so hard to be sure, but the entire bill was half of what a comparable Gunite pool was costing

You can save around 80% by insulating. 14x28 pools used to cost £200 and take 5 days to heat up, 20x40 pool cost £20 and heat up overnight.

@all3pools

Liquid nails pro foam…. Then I drove tec screws every 1’ leaving them hang up 1/2-3/4” into the concrete when poured for a permanent hold, the glue is plenty strong to hold back the concrete during the pour, I just don’t trust the liner track to just sit on the webs of the block for their only support

How durable are these pools in regards to dogs? I was considering a fiberglass pool as gunite is rough in their joints and I am just concerned about them puncturing a liner.
@all3pools
@all3pools 3 жыл бұрын
Ya dogs can damage a liner especially if the panic and try to climb out over a wall… but the thermoplastic stairs are bulletproof, similar to fiberglass, so if your dogs are swimming all the time and not scratching around on the walls it’s fine as the egress point is stout…. The real problem we’ve seen happens when animals that aren’t expecting to swim fall in the pool especially deer, they can easily jump most fences and fall in at night, and the ensuing panic can destroy a liner wall…. Rare but it does occur….

I was concerned about this as well. Also the junction between the slab and wall is also square, this will make it hard to clean and won’t work with a robotic cleaner. So manual cleaning only? Not convinced.
