Hi, Great video! One thing I have found though that might help. Those roasts you sealed are great, but labeling them can some times be a pain when you have a lot of them to do, so what I've been doing is taking the store label and sliding it on top of the steak or roast and sealing it inside. That way it has all of the information you need when you pull it out of the freezer, including weight, cut, dates etc.

I had to laugh when you said you tried to seal French toast and it squished them. My daughter and I tried to vacuum seal banana bread to mail to my son. It immediately started to squish the whole loaf of bread. It was late at night and we were so tired and we both screamed and tried to stop the vacuum sealer. By the time we got the bread out of there it was squished into a small lump. We were laughing so hard we were almost in tears.

@SuttonsDaze l don't know if that's a good idea, because when the bread thaws out you have trapped moisture . It would be good if you're going to put it back in the freezer for storage, but to mail it l would think twice.

I used to watch Guga, that Brazilian guy who sous vide’s all his meat on KZbin. He has one of these too and it looks pretty cool. I ordered a random beef roast box from my favorite farm and have a 14lb beef brisket that needs to be ground into burger and I’m dreading the task. It would go better with the chamber vacuum (according to my son who’s a chef).

I bought a chamber sealer 3 or 4 years ago. Best investment I ever made! Yes, it is an investment but I swear the money I saved on bags alone has paid for it over and over. I make boil in bag meals. When I have potatoes I need to use up I make them into garlic mashed potatoes and freeze. Boil them from frozen 20 min and I have a easy side dish. I LOVE mine ! My son bought one as well

Until you can afford the chamber vac, put a wad of paper towels on top of your meat, chicken especially to suck up the juice so the bag will seal. If you have space and time freeze the meat a little before bagging & sealing. It helps and yes, am saving my pennies for a chamber vac sealer.

I have a different brand of vacuum chamber sealer, and have stopped regular use of the food saver type. I highly recommend having one. The standard bags are so much less expensive, in the year and a half I have been using it, I have more than made up for the initial cost. I store dried meats in Mylar sealed in the machine and put in five gallon buckets. Meat I put in the freezers are of course vacuum sealed, but since I have pretty much run out of freezer space, I have found that meat vacuum sealed and put in the fridge, lasts up to three times as long as meat in it's original packaging. Lastly, I have had years of experience with h several different brands of food saver types and they tend to have a short working life, the machine I have is industrial quality and has already lasted through more work than any single food saver machine I have ever owned.

I got a chamber vacuum sealer a year or more ago and LOVE IT! We would have two of the regular vacuum sealers going when we were portioning and freezing ground beef, so many problems including having to wait for the seal bars to cool down. I'm giving my other sealers to my daughters - one is probably 20 years old and I felt like it works better than the newer ones. And pre-made bags are awesome too - I hate making my own because I could never get the length right and then you have to seal it twice.

Hi Leisa, when I started to view this video, a window popped up asking me to join. I chose the not now option, or whatever it said. I did want you to know that I subscribed to your channel during the first video that I watched. I knew right then and there that your videos were something that I can relate to. Also that your personality is very close to mine. I don't want you to think that I don't appreciate you. Just the opposite is true. I will look forward to your videos for a really really long time. I hope that you enjoy your new fancy schmancy food sealer. It looks like something that would have me gushing. I once broke into tears when my husband bought me a rototiller. Yup, for real. Ugly crying wet tears. I'm leaning that when I go to the store, the price of sale meat might go up. Beef chuck hamburger is $3.99 on sale here but I paid a dollar more per pound recently. Now we're back to the $3.99/pound this week so I got 2 family sized (usually around 3 pounds) packages. But I did get pork chops for $1.99/pound this week too, also in family sized packages. Piggly Wiggly. I'm in Southern Wisconsin.

I’ve had a chamber vac for several years now and I love it. The bags are sooo much cheaper. It definitely saves money over the long run. You don’t need to refrigerate the marinading meat in the fridge first, it’ll marinade while it’s defrosting. For things that squish, freeze first then vacuum. I’ve frozen large batches of blueberries on sheet pans then vacuum sealed. They lasted a year and a half and didn’t squish. You might be able to vacuum seal things like chili and soup without freezing first, but sometimes it gets sucked out of the bag and makes a giant mess. I always just freeze first then vacuum.

My food saver has all the issues you mentioned, and vacuum sealing is great- its more than just food storage. I have been looking for a new one when for when mine dies, great review. One thing I have learned with vacuum sealing - don't try and cheap out on the bag you use. To me it's like taking a risk with a canning lid (that's been used, some off brand or trying to use a bag that wasn't intended) if your going to take the time to purchase product and put effort into saving it- save it as best you can. Thank for sharing 🥂

That's a shiny bit of kit!! It's awesome that its working so well for you. (I think it'd be overkill for what we use ours for.) I keep trying to find the "reduced for quick sale" meats at my local stores, but they seem to put them out first thing in the morning, and I'm doing the school run then. I might be able to stop after the drop off, but that involves a fair bit of logistics for a "maybe" on getting discounted meat. I definitely check that section every time I'm in the store though.

The box of chicken breast come in a box in one large bag. I did pull out the sealer to divide the breasts into quantities of two. Since you are the busiest person I know, I wanted to ask you something. When I used to bake and make various loafs like banana bread, the recommendation for freezing is 3 months.
