Yo Ben! It's Nathan from Torch. I have just recently bought one of these and have been training myself while finishing the prototype for filming of our newest helmet so I've watched a lot of videos, but this was by far the BEST video covering the Osmo. Well done, Sir!! I would love to get any tips or feedback as we begin shooting and in case I make it out your direction it would be great to meet up again and buy you a beer since the footage you provided us for the T2 was simply top notch. Out Filming are masters of their craft!

I feel like i'm asking the same questions as a lot of the comments below, but here they are: 1. Video quality seems great all-around, apart from slow-motion which you think is "unusable". Why is that? Is that something a firmware update can fix, or does that mean the osmo (with X3) will never be good with slow-motion? 2. Graded/Ungraded - is that an extra filter you purchased, or a post-production edit etc? 3. Sound - i've heard/read about the quality of the sound being quite poor due to the constant noise of the nearby fan. How did you record the audio in this clip though? (in particular the last 30 seconds while you're on your bike speaking into the camera) 4. Would the osmo stand up by itself (in a stable position) if it were used for static shooting? 5. I'm an amateur at video recording but have been doing some calisthenics/travel vlogs with my Sony RX100M3, and am now pondering whether to buy a GoPro 4, a GoPro sessions or the OSMO. I definitely prefer the OSMO, but don't know if i'll be able to do with it everything I can do with a gopro (mount it to a bike etc). If you have any advice, let me know. Thanks in advance for the feedback - great video, fantastic review!

Hello, My name's Charlie, I'm 13 years old, & I'm an aspiring filmmaker. I'm really into cinematography and getting creative with my videos. Should I save up the money to buy an Osmo? Is it worth it? I'm currently using my Nikon d5200, but I'm not sure if I should invest in stabilization or a whole new camera.

I would keep your camera, the osmo is amazing but cannot replace a DSLR. They work together beautifully. Glad to see young kids shooting video. Keep it up!

I want to complement you on the rigor of your testing. I've decided to make the purchase, but now I understand the drawbacks. I want it for simple b-roll steady shots that you just can't get on a tripod. I have a gimbal for my camera...well...not real happy with that purchase. After looking at your video I believe this would be a key weapon in my arsenal. Thank you for making this video.

Now there is an Osmo+ available and I have it on order. I didn't like how the original Osmo wouldn't focus as close as your face in selfie mode. Now that is fixed. The zoom will be nice too. Do you plan on testing the + out? Thanks very much for your review!

great review. i had an opportunity recently to play with one at a local store and have to say overall i was impressed. my biggest gripe is the IQ. its ok but not stellar...still for the money i think its fair i just wish it was more stunning. i won't buy one just yet but will wait for this area to mature and be happy with my go pro black and small 3 axis gimbal.

Just curious, is there any noticeable difference between the white Inspire camera and the black one that comes with the OSMO? I've been thinking of getting an Inspire and saw on the site that you can get just the OSMO handle kit. Does the Inspire camera preform as well without the OSMO camera locking mechanism, or have they improved the Firmwear enough to where its indistinguishable?

It's common practice in film to "color grade" footage. this is to maximize the data in digital footage to make it look as close to the quality of film as possible, and or for stylistic and artistic reasons as well. look up color grading for more info.

How is the sensor of OSMO compared to an iPhone 7 or 8?
@noiztrauma8 жыл бұрын
Wait, why is the slomo disappointing? shouldn't 120p@1080p be very decent? probably would go for the cheaper gopto 4 black, but i hate the bending on the sides and the osmo doesn't have that while offering similar quality. but good fullhd slomo is a must.
@richthedroneguy89436 жыл бұрын
I was excited about the osmo until I realized it basically has no audio. Even a gopro will outperform it when doing selfie or instructional type videos. Looks great if you just want to do scenery or action shots with dubbed in music.

@lucaMMXI8 жыл бұрын
At 3:54 he says that the video shutter speed goes from "30s all the way to 1/8000th of a second". In actuality, it can only go as slow as 1/25th of a second (NOT 30s). The Osmo cannot even go to one second shutter speed.

Funny, you talk about the viability of using a smart phone as a view finder. It was the last question I asked while talking with my group of professionals. I do have a question. What happens if you hold the...wait...you just held the camera upside down. Question answered. I don't know if I'm more impressed with the camera or the forethought you have to answer all the questions I have.

+Harry Neelam hey man I bought it Friday and I love it. It came with the DJI flexi mic. Shot some footage over the weekend on a little road trip and haven't edited anything. Hi! this camera dosent work without wifi? what do you do if your traveling ?
@Rasmushed8 жыл бұрын
Wi-fi is a way to transfer data like bluetooth, it's not the same thing as a router at home that supplies you with internet. The Osmo sends out a Wi-fi signal for your phone to pick up so it can mirror the image and control the Osmo without wires. The wifi can be used where ever you go.
@Nexxarian8 жыл бұрын
So is there any optional wires that would hook into your phone? As said in the video, the wifi connection makes your phone battery take a beating, which I find problematic. Personally my iPhone 6S' battery seems to run down very fast, and if this thing is using the Osmo's wifi and the having to have the phone constantly on, then my phone will run out pretty fast.
