Loved watching this, i drove Spartan, Sultan CVR(T)'s as well as other tracks, but the CVR range with the old jaguar engines were my favorite, I believe they were all put to diesel later on?. either way they were just great to live and work with. I absolutely loved them, they were fast, maneuverable, fairly reliable in my experience. I always wanted to own one after my time just for nostalgia and possible shots and giggles, but pragmatics have put paid to my desires, so watching this old Sabre in private hands and you loving every moment not only brings back memories, but also joy as I live vicariously through this. Thank you.

Hey... Thanks for writing. Always great to hear from someone who actually served with CVR(T). I have owned 3 tracked vehicles over the last 30 years. My first was back in 1994... a FV433 Abbot Spg... The Sabre was another full restoration from basically scrap to "as new". The Sabre was my favourite. Loads of videos of the restoration on my KZbin channel... Plus many videos of the others. Back in the 70s I was part of a team at a REME Field Workshops where we were doing a lot of modifications on CVR(T)s often working over time. When we were the only ones left we would race them around the workshops. The MOD police would also take a turn racing us. There were complaints form the local civies about the noise. The MOD police were asked what was happening , strangely they were unaware of any racing.

Great! I used to be a CVRT driver & mecanical in the army. Last april (2020) I'm retired after 38 years of service. The last years I was a mecanical of heavy tanks and Leopard TRV driver. Don't forget: The higher the gear the wider the curve!

@@PaulDonovan Impressive, never knew it is a different license to drive in civilian life. We went to a military school to learn how to drive and do the basic maintenance. Loved those CVRT's, whenever there was something to do we just took off the deckplate so engine & transmission was easy to work on. I remember we always fitted a spare belt on the transmission with tie-wraps so it was fast repair in case of emergency. When I was in the civil war of Somalia they were reliable, even in the heat. Sabre was an addition. The hull is from a decommissioned Scorpion and the turret was from a CVRW Fox.Built a few of these back in the day. Different sidelight and indicator housing fitted on the front of these. Nice to see it running.

Now Bovington is a place I'd dearly love to visit. In my younger years my father was a bandsman in the RCDs. I recall the band playing as the Centurians roared past. Beautiful job restoring it, really looks like it was just off the assembly line. It is amazing how nimble and fast it preforms. Modern CVRTs as far as I know are really big comparatively.

hi there guys, could I say that you are living my dream. when I first heard that the army was selling these tanks, I really wanted one, but in reality, could never own one.. when I saw your videos, I had to sub you. I love what you've done with it, how much you look after it and best of all, drive it. I would love to see it in the flesh, for a touchy feely, and a look inside it. I'm sooooo glad, there are people like you, who love and cherish all the different types of vehicles, my favourite is my 1973 suzuki GT250K candy apple green. Paul Donovan I remember an article in a Military Vehicle magazine about a guy who owned a T34/85 Russian tank and drove it on the road with the steel tracks. He used to get pulled all the time and lectured on the illegality of driving the tank on the road, where upon he would pull out his Chief Superintendent’s hat for the motorway police and proceeded to lecture the other cop on “track area and ground” pressure” and how the only relevant law is that if you damage the road, you pay for the repairs!

Jacob Albert no special permit required. The weapons are deactivated. There is a basic driving test for tracked vehicles and that's it. No restrictions on where you can drive.... although in the current climate I wouldn't recommend going near an airport or military facility. Vehicle has to have rubber track pads, lights etc. 😎👍
