I feel like wrestlers advertise themsleves as the real deal alot more than actors do which rubs people (especially "tough guys") the wrong way. Robert Downey Jr isnt going around saying hes iron man off set whereas wrestlers lives are very interconnected with the sport so its hard for people to know where to draw the line and where WWE themselves draw the line, cause we all know WWE has blurred the line between reality and entertainment before. Like Jeff Hardys addiction being a storyline. Its this real/fake vibe that tbh is off the fking walls crazy at times that people dont understand but thats also why people love it. Sorry for the long response but I wanted to give u a good answer cause I'm sure you hear about this alot. Also, I love your work sir.

@@dan4992 I think wrestlers have a right to walk around like they’re the shot bc unlike actors they don’t have stunt doubles that are going out and taking bumps for them every night. WWE superstars specifically are going out wrestling 4 or 5 times a week while actors might have a couple fight scenes a year, completely different.

@@Skyo.obecause at the end of the day it is still wrestling. The whole reason pro wrestling was created was because regular wrestling wasn’t too engaging and the audience would be bored to death. What pro wrestling aims to do is to portray larger than life characters doing insane stunts with interesting storylines so that its engaging and thrilling. Yes the addition of the scripted elements would make one question “why specifically wrestling?” And the answer is well… it just works.

Wrestling is like going to watch a school play over going to the cinema. Yeah they’re both acting, buts ones ridiculous & has awful acting, the other can be so realistic you lose yourself for 2 hours. Not to mention the fact there’s no real way to see a James Bond for example, other than this one experience….With wrestling there’s literally a real version of it, yet people still chose the fake. The ridiculousness of it all is quite obvious to everyone but hardcore wrestling fans.

It’s not the same. In a professional sport, part of the thrill is a surprise win or upset that’s an actual non-scripted event. If basketball, baseball, golf, or any other sport had scripted events and outcomes, nobody would watch them. People watch wrestling because it’s entertainment. It’s because in movies the audience is entirely aware that the show’s a stage but for wrestling most people don’t know it’s all scripted, and there’s no easy way to tell based on the shows alone until someone informs you. It’s not surprising many feel cheated when they find out it’s all scripted since they were expecting an actual authentic competitive fight like in the case of mma.
