I always felt like when that happened, they should've turned him babyface instead of getting rid of Muhammad Hassan. Because at that point he hadn't been anything other than a heel. So giving him a month or two off then bringing him back as a babyface would've kept him going. His character was amazing and so was his mic skills. A waste of talent.

It's a shame, because Muhammed Hassan was such a smart character to start with, the idea of a Muslim being able to tell people "I am not a terrorist" was something America needed during the peak Bush years. The fact that they turned on that was gonna be a stupid decision no matter when they did it, but especially when it did happen. The fact that he bore most of the consequences for creative's stupid decision still annoys me.

One time i got fired. Someone at the job lost some expensive headphones, $500. The day was normal, people were asking me questions i didn't really pay any mind to. Later back at home, just chilling, i got a call from my boss, saying they had to fire me and they had footage of me stealing headphones and just return them. Which meant they were lying. I had no idea what was going on. Apparently the headphones had some kind of gps in it and they (super confidently) sent a picture of some neighborhood i never been in. Like whooaaaaaa you got me, chilling in my penthouse in tribeca full of stolen headphones and feral dobermans. Sometimes i think i'll get a call or something apologizing, like here's some money, we found out what happened to the headphones.

I started watching WWE that very week, the first week of July in 2005. Over here in the U.K. we had our version of 9/11 happen the London 7/7 bombings on July 7th 2005. I was just on the Tube in the London Underground just 2 or 3 weeks before it happened, now I didn’t go to any of the places that would get hit just 2 or 3 weeks later, but to know that as a 9 year old boy as I was at the time going on a school trip to the British Museum using the Tube just 2 or 3 weeks before it all happened is eerie.

Hassan work was ligit and could have (not could have) paved the way for others (non-cookie cutter wrestlers). It's too bad they couldn't repackage him somehow. I had 3 WWE tryouts as a Chinese wrestler prior to 2010. His push would have been a God send and would have ushered in a 2nd age of Attitude Era instead of the PG era. I was presented as Chinese but am also Japanese/Hawaiian and wrestled Yuji Nagata when I was 23. Least Jey Uso still uses the neckbreaker I made in 1998. KZbin Best Neckbreaker in Wrestling History.
