Great band I learned in college in NY up on the border (We got CHEZ 106 out of Ottawa in college)

Underwhelming welcome for what was once tbe coolest Canadian band , (between 1975-1980 even cooler than that other one) they have not released or written anything new since 1980. I am surprised that this award crawled out of the hoary old smelly closet of what remains of the Canadoan music scene. Max Webster should have hit the American market right away instead of riding Rush's coat-tails with Ray Daniels and SRO. They were the perfect band for Zappa fans and Van Halen rockers. Max were like L,A excess meets backwoods beer-drinkin Michigan and bear a very strange new child! But they did not receive the adulation they truly deserved here in Canada.

My sentiments exactly, he was the Canadian Zappa back in the day

Sad that Pye Dubois (Paul Woods) had a falling out with them & hasn't reconciled & wasn't at this ceremony.

I didn't know Pye was Paul Woods. Please let me know what the falling out was

@@mikewoods8565 I've read as much stuff as I can find on the internet about them. Pye Dubois is a 'made up'/'stage name'. Pye never drove & if I remember right, for one recording session when Kim went to pick Pye up, he wasn't there, so Kim went on without him & that caused hurt feelings & a rift. But don't take my word & memory for it - google it.

@playhooky actually, I don't need to know what the falling out was at all. I just want to celebrate the work that he's accomplished and thank you !

Mike Tilka made a memory boo boo. Max didn't open for Rush on the three Moving Picture tour shows at Maple Leaf Gardens, FM did. I was there all three nights.

Mike Tilka had been gone from Max Webster for many years at the time of Moving Pictures.......so weird him having the speaking platform when he was the shortest time in the band !!!....He wasn't even in the band when Max toured for Rush - Permanent Waves tour....He's on 1 album right ????
@markrobert2055 ай бұрын
Maybe not in Toronto, but in Detroit they opened for Rush on both the Permanent Wave tour and the Moving Pictures tour.

@@fasteddie777666 Tilka is a major Max force. He played on the first two albums, produced the second album after Terry Brown quit, and after leaving the band he repped them with their record label

@@georgekarrys8700 Yes, well said - please don't dis Mike Tilka, you could almost say that he moved on when the tunes started getting rather commercial - the first and second albums were their best

@@johnharvey4496 Tilka was last seen with them in 77 - no? when they backed RUSH on the Farewell to Kings tour

Always felt like Max could have been global, interplanetary, pangalactic, but lesser artists had better PR. Tall poppy syndrome. Crabs in a bucket. Chicken salad in a rainstorm. The unique catharsis of Beyond The Moon. The borrowed shoes that didn't fit. The Party that destroyed the speakers and that persistent fear of Gravity, what a downer.
