CWTK - Brewing Honey Mead #2 - Bottling the Mead

I always wanted to try to make mead, make sure to follow a recipe and instructions and read up a bit on it in general.
I used the following per Jug.
1250gram of Honey
3x Appels / 3x Pears
Boiled water / Spring water
D-47 Yeast

Robbaz, add some potassium metabisulfate to prevent fermentation from starting up again just in case the yeast is not all dormant. I'm a mead maker here in the US in case you are wondering.

The yeast is NOT dead! Robbaz, those bottles are gonna explode if you don't get that back in the jar for a while. Alcohol doesn't kill the yeast, it just makes it hibernate. Adding the honey dropped the ABV just a bit, maybe enough to restart fermentation.

Cool tip for brewing: You can massively cut down on your sanitizer use by getting a wallpaper tray. It's long enough for all your racking gear, and only needs about 1 gallon of sanitzer to fill it up. It also takes up less space when you're not using it. The only drawback is it is very difficult to move it with liquid in it without it sloshing out onto the floor, so be careful (I keep mine next to the sink when it's full so that I can just tip it and empty it).

not bad at all Monsieur Roberts! Good first go. As a mead maker myself, you might want to try a slightly different recipe to make it sweet. Mine is pretty badass! Last batch was 13.1 percent and sooo sweeeeeet. The Viking technique is spot on though careful with the old yeast. some may be dormant. it will however clear and get better with age! Stellar Job!

Fantastic, Robert. I recently bought my first bottle of mead here in the States from a meadery in Montana. It's a much clearer color than yours, but they claim it to be "how it used to be made". They also have other varieties of mead, such as ones flavored with chokecherry, and even jalapenos. Crazy shit.
