I think what kind of ruins these things is someone sees that something is an eye, but they purposefully draw it as an abstract shape knowing its meaning is being lost. When these are really good, it's when all the participants combine directly copying with interpreting what it is that they're seeing and reproducing that as best they can.

It really went downhill from around no 20 and IMO that was because people weren't actaully able to tell that it was a tree with a face anymore from that point on.
@fatmccat151319 сағат бұрын
I think that’s the point though. They’re not trying to draw what they think the drawing is supposed to be, but they’re trying to replicate exactly what was drawn

A good way to really mess these up,(this is kind of a big change) is to pass your drawing on to someone who guesses what it is, and the they pass it on to another person who draws what they guessed, and so on. I think I would turn out completely hilarious!

I would like yo see what happens when you have the same drawing but you have 2 groups. And you see how different they are from each other. Say 30 drawings of one group compared to 30 drawings of the other group and how close each group was to the initial drawing. That might look cool.

I think the participants should be able to look at the picture they're trying to copy for a limited amount of time, and then have them draw from memory. This way the picture can evolve into something else. They way its done now you'll just end up with a worse version of the original.

Loved the video, I'm not sure how it turned from an evil-faced tree with a bee on a hill, to... Whatever it become at the end, but seeing all 60 drawings played in a time-lapse-style, made it look like an animation of the tree deforming, the bee shriveling to nothingness, and the lines at the base of the tree morphing into a frowning face. It's fascinating how it turned out that way. happy early New Years everybody. See you all in 2025.

wth what do you have to have in your head not to be able to draw a simple tree...
@calvincrenshaw73562 күн бұрын
What if you did this for 20 steps, then change the game? For the next 20 steps, you put the last work under blurry glass, ask the artist to guess what it is, then ask them to trace it. By making them guess, you are forcing them to interpret it, which means they will subconsciously try to 'correct' it, effectively reversing the process and resulting in a totally new work of art. Would that work, though? I'd be fascinated to see.
