You know an online friend is suspicious when: -they say their camera is broken -they want to know facts about your location (e.g., “where do you go to school?” “Let’s meet! Do you see a park around you?”) -they are dirty but try to be funny (e.g., “remove the towel heheh” “send me some skin heheh”) -you get messages from them hourly, and it’s usually relating to the previous two topics (location or sex.) -they have only just followed you, and are messaging you things that don’t make you feel comfortable How to avoid these run-ins if you are worried, if not the basic statement of “be safe” should do. -set your social accounts to “private” so you can regulate who is following you, and they must gain permission to follow you. -If they ever tell you to send nudes, make sure you know and feel comfortable toward this person. -if their profile picture displays a teen-ish dude with abs, don’t accept their follow request, you never know. -most of all, just make sure to end the conversation before you are forced to do things.

This is why CP laws exist. You can't trust people your own age any more than adults. This is why an underage person sending nudes to someone else that's underage is no better than an underage person sending nudes to an adult. Lots of people don't realize that. It doesn't matter if they're the same age as you or much older or anywhere in between. Just don't send those kinds of pictures period if you're not prepared for them to be distributed everywhere, and especially don't share them if you're underage.

Good film, it made me think about this phenomenom that we call social media and communication done through our mobile devices. As I understand it, too many of todays children and youth do the same and more that is hinted towards in this video. I honestly don't know what would be a good way of preventing these things from happening on the scale that they are occuring now. This is also something that we have touched in my current study program. We've discussed the potentials and good sides of social media and how it can help us. It is surprising that this side of the story is getting promoted more than the other side. I almost feel like if you are not on any social media platforms you are kinda like a laughing stock. But even though social media was initially intended to be something totally different, a way to connect with people who are not near, it has transformed into something terrible and it's a real threat to our children and youth. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be used at all, of course not. But there are some serious aspects that need to be taken into consideration when using social media. I feel that the children and youth, event hough they might say it's okay, they are not quite ready to be using the whole lot of them. There are many dangers out there, some minor while others might have a more serious impact on ones life.
