Thank you for your videos. I am a retired System Admin and computer tech. It has saved me learning a new set of skills and waste of time. I hate Windows 11 Pro with a passion. They can't even do a Screen Saver that works. Windows 10 Pro was passable, but I miss Windows 7. The last decent OS that they made. Except for Servers.

Wow, that was a great explanation of the the GPedit function. Now I know why MS dropped it from Home installs, and it makes sense. I just find it really handy, as RegEdit can get tedious at times. Another excellent video, thanks! 👍

One thing that annoys me the most about Windows is that Windows creates System Volume Information folders on every disk drive it touches. I don't really understand why Windows thinks this needs to be on every USB drive. I can delete it but Windows will create it again. It might be an intersting topic for a video, explaining waht's the purpose of this folder and if it's possible to get rid of it for good.

Hi there. As far as I know, that folder gets created every time, you delete a file off your USB to the Recycle bin. Instead press Shift Del to delete it permanently and then it wont create the System Volume Information folder.

About the telemetry stuff and "Enterprise only". I saw that you had Windows' Settings open in the background while changing that preference in the Policy Plus program, and your modification didn't work. Perhaps Windows' Settings (being open, albeit in the background) was somehow interfering with that? Perhaps it's possible to enable the "0 - Security (Enterprise Only)" setting in Policy Plus, if you don't have the Windows Settings "app" open at the same time? Probably not, but maybe..? 🙂

Of all the annoyances of Win 10 or 11 is its tendency to wait until I really REALLY don't have time to faff around with updating should I need to restart the machine for whatever reason. I restart the system and then find I am stuck waiting for the "update", which wasn't critical, and the delay (up to 20 minutes) cost me time and embarassment, sometimes money. I just want a toggle like "DO NOT ATTEMPT AN UPDATE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES". Is this doable? So glad I stumbled on your excellent channel, many thanks!

In 10 pro you can do prompt to download so you have to open settings & updates to actually update at all, I combined that with with do not automatically reboot with a logged in user from group policy. I've found that good enough, update when I want, you will get notifications when updates are available. If I told how long I've gone at once without updating or even rebooting you wouldn't believe me.

First, go to Settings. In Settings, your account is in the top left, or under it there's a button labeled "Accounts". Click either of those buttons and it will take you to the "Accounts" page. Next click "Your info", it's the first button under "Account settings". You should see something that says "Microsoft account" on the left, and "Sign in with a local account instead" on the right. Click "Sign in with a local account instead". It will show a popup to make sure you want to switch to a local account. Click Next. Windows might try and verify if it's you so just enter the credentials it needs. Then you will see a page where you can enter your local account info. Go ahead and do that, and once your done, click next. After you click next, it will ask you to sign out, and once you sign out, you should be able to sign in with your local account. Hope this helps :D

This is probably what happened. You bought a low-dollar one, not the $200 "full retail". If MS tried to charge LARGE COMPANIES with TENS OF THOUSANDS of employees $200 PER SEAT for Windows and up to $440 for Office Pro Plus the reactions would be, "Screw that! We'll write our own!" MS charges (at least used to) LARGE ORGANIZATIONS AS LOW AS $26 PER SEAT for Windows "Enterprise". Microsoft RESELLERS are SUPPOSED TO only sell those licenses to A SINGLE BUSINESS. But what the "discounters" do is GIVE THE SAME PRODUCT KEY to HUNDREDS of buyers. Years ago my employer bought two licenses for Office Home and Business from a "discounter". The vendor told us the one key would work for two installs and it did. About 4 months later we ordered a new license. THEY DID NOT say, "We have ADDED a THIRD ACTIVATION to your PREVIOUS purchase." They just sent us an email saying, "This is your product key." And it was the same key. When MS does happen to spot that an Enterprise key is being sold to multiple buyers they "CANCEL" that key--which is why MS activation says it is not valid. We had THAT happen with a new "discounted" purchase. When we contacted the seller they just sent us a different product key without an explanation.

Hi, thanks for the awesome videos. This is one that i cannot figure out. My youtube audio losses sync with the video after about 3 mins. I have to refresh my webpage in order to correct it everytime. This happens on all browsers i have treied. Chrome, Edge and firefox. It doesnt happen in windows 10 but in windows 11. I have reinstalled my OS, but the same thing happens. Thanks for sharing. Yeah Home-Version is really bad; is so limited; to work properly. For some task is the registry enough but some reg-edits not working; so I jump over to GPO and do it that way. Than I found a lot of things, they do the same as my reg-file does - so I made all my changes in GPO and export it into a single file. On every time I wanna reset my GPO-Settings so I do only import this file back at once. For my personal use case is it a little more easier as "reg /add or reg /modify or reg /del". By side - I really like your videos - so stay tuned.

Still using Windows 10. You can always update to Windows 11 when Microsoft kills 10. However, if you're using an Intel CPU with P&E cores, you should run 11.

I believe that the versions of Windows that include the group policy editor (Pro, Server, Enterprise) allow you to stop automatic Windows Updates. You can then apply updates on your schedule. Will the PolicyPlus github download make available the above described Windows Update option?

I noticed that you had the 'Some of your settings are hidden or managed by your organization.' message on your Settings page. Any idea how to clear that, I've tried various ways to remove it without success.

Usually this is a result of 1 of 2 things: 1. Someone is using a pirated copy of windows and whomever made it disabled some things (possibly to hide malware or something and prevent you from seeing or disabling it, or maybe not) 2. The more common cause is OEM related. Whatever store/company that built the rig and put windows on there for you has installed some stuff or set some options they don't want you to be able to change. It's kinda like the apps you can't remove off your phone, they were put there by the maker and they don't want you to be able to remove them so they simply disable that option. Ironically the only fix I know of for that is, oddly enough..... the group policy editor lol. Forget exactly how but if you google "fix windows settings managed by your organization with group policy editor" it should lead you to the right answer. Only other alternative is downloading a clean ISO from MS, reformatting the offending drive to make sure no old windows files are kept and simply reinstall. But that doesn't always work, if it's a brand name like Dell or HP they sometimes do that stuff through the BIOS so you're probably stuck with it. *Edit* Oops, perhaps I should have finished watching the video lol At roughly 7:40 in the video he outright shows you where to modify the settings panel stuff using the program. Edit #2 forgot about the 3rd cause, if you use a debloater or some other program that disables telemetry and other stuff like that it can sometimes cause that message too. Usually because the program disabled something that that particular feature needed but since it can't find that file it just defaults to that message instead.

The group policy editor should just come with all windows 10/11 versions by default. Whatever reason they've made up for not doing it is dumb and wrong, and this is something that they should fix immediately.

Bogus app, why would someone use this app for themselves being an administrator, infact the truth is we need it to restrict other user accounts for access, which this app can't do as you said we need this on another account to work on, but it doesn't it says cannot write to computer cannot write to user , and shows success nothing happens , instead switching to win pro would be great and not adjusting with the minimum utility
