that's kinda because the game itself considers every monster as different entities however monsters are programmed to target player but sometimes if a monster damages other monster they just fight each other until one dies

I've ran this "showdown" hundreds of times on every difficulty and the Cyberdemon almost always wins. I'm trying to think of an occasion where the Spider Mastermind won, but I can't recall even a single time. I must say the Cyberdemon is my favorite. I like the story of how he became half-robot, half-demon. If you don't know what I'm talking about, play and beat Wolfenstein RPG and you'll learn why he has a rocket launcher for an arm.

More dangerous, not more powerful. A rocket delivers more damage than a spidermastermind's chaingun bullet. However a rocket can be avoided easily, while the spidermastermind's chaingun can not be avoided at all. This makes the spidermastermind a more dangerous demon to be killed by the doomguy. He kills you slowly, you need to destroy him quickly with BFG or Rocket Launcher. Besides, I have managed to kill the cyberdemon with just the shotgun, while there is no way to kill the spidermastermind with the same starting health and armor

The mastermind is harder to kill if you don't have the plasma or BFG. Cybers rockets are easy to dodge the masterminds chaingun is not. But the plasma gun puts the mastermind into a constant pain state and makes it easy to kill her. And the BFG... well no comment on that.

I have yet to see the Spider win in my own games, I always let the spider fire at the CyberDemon first and the Spider still loses, sometimes I’ll help with 1-3 Super Shotgun blasts on the CyberDemon, Spider Mastermind still loses.

In terms of presence, and combat the Cyberdemon is way better, but in terms, of design and over all looks, the Spider mastermind is better in my opinion, I love her design and I wish she had 12000 HP in the official games, that would have made her fight more fun.

I came close to spending $400 on a ps4 just to get the new doom game but my curiousity got the best of me and i looked up the new cyberdemon fight. He doesnt look like a demon, more of an alien? Yes i own the new doom for the ps4. They did the gameplay and even the atmosphere more along the lines of the original. My biggest bitch is the ammo, why wont they let you carry more. The chaingun is probably my new favorite weapon but even after just a few trash kill you are out of ammo. wish there was a cheat or even a backpack to double the amount of ammo you can carry. Atleast my double barrel doesnt run out so fast.

In maps where the Mastermind is allowed to get very close, the Mastermind will almost always win (due to higher damage and much higher stunlock). The Cyberdemon wins more at range. It usually wins on the Fast Monsters setting. On this particular map, Cyber has something like 70% odds (make that 97% on Fast Monsters setting).

Do this on nightmare and the Cyberdemon should win, he does less walking more shooting. But this fight basically comes down to how close they are, at close range the Spider's weapon doesn't spray as much and will always win, at longer range the Cyberdemon wins.

Can somebody please help me out here... I keep reading comments that this level is available on Doom II. Does the PS1 version of Ultimate Doom / Doom II have this level or can it only be downloaded on an Internet mod? If so, can anybody tell me if there are any good, free mods that I can download. Icon of Sin is still the best of the three bosses. I doubt that neither the Cyberdemon nor the Spider Mastermind could take him down, even IF they were working together. And, for that matter, the Icon of Sin made better sense as a final boss. Although the Cyberdemon and Spider Mastermind may have been strong enough to lead armies of demons, they couldn't GENERATE demons. Destroying the Icon of Sin, however, meant the destruction of the so-called "demon factory"
