I’m 64 years old and I’m on ssi/sdi very disabled but ambulatory I am currently living with my niece and her boyfriend I so need to have my own place for my cat and I he’s an emotional support cat with that being said my income is only a little under a 1,000.00 monthly 171 from EBT and medical coverage exempt for my prescriptions I have 10 of them and I pay co-pays

How do you get on one in Indy or very close there. I have been trying but been told that there is a long waiting list, they have not been taking names. I am disabled so I'm on SSI income. I don't own a vehicle. But my doctor is in Indy. And my daughter lives there with her dad near Michigan Rd. and Kessler Blvd. I currently live in Lebanon Indiana at a place that has the in-house sec. 8 program. I also have some emotional therapy cats, I lost my son to suicide in May 2011.

Hi, I graduated in 2020 with an associates degree. I am a per diem CNA in Connecticut, but still is being claimed as dependent from parents who do not qualify for Section 8. Should I claim independent then apply for housing? (I’m trying to depend more on myself than my parents at 22 years old.)

If you have moved out you should claim head of household and your housing application would go a lot smoother.

Im a single mom currently in a shelter with a DV case in NyC and after today I feel extremely hopeless because my housing specialist only offered me city fpheps and soda program and began telling me how much of a dead end those programs were . Ive heard that section 8 was closed in nyc I’m not sure if thats true. Any suggestions on what I should do .

Your housing specialist first and foremost is likely paid as much taco bell worker and is still working on there GED. The City Fpheps program is far from dead. I have 26 clients in that program and we have had great success with housing and moving them on to HVC housing quickly. Don't let low paid rodeo clowns ,who don't care about you fill your head with complete BS and trust me that's what that worker is doing because there main goal is to thin the herd and get more people give up so they can save money on the budget.

Hi Jay I am HCV participant who recently found a rental but the last tenant hasn't come back from out of state to retrieve her belongings which of course made it impossible for a housing inspection to be conducted. She is now telling the landlord that she is requesting an extension with Housing Authority even though her lease was officially terminated as of DEC 31 2021.The landlord has explained to me that California has laws which is very tenant friendly based. So I take it that he doesn't want to evict her causing her to lose her voucher. So my question is what can I do to get this ball rolling and claim my rental? I am a single mother five children been homeless since October 2021. I don think it is fair that I would have to wait until the end of January and I've exhausted all resources as far as the Homeless program with welfare, and shelters are always full.

Thank you, sir. I now understand this much better. I am 61 years of age. I recieve SSD 1,169.00 each month. And work part time making 320.00 each month. My rent is 722.00 each month. Plus, I pay about 50.00 each month for electric. And I also recieve 250.00 of EBT (food) each month. And my daughter pays for my phone bill each month. Its Very hard sometimes I feel like giving up But, I don't want to become homelessness. I must apply for Section 8. Do you think I have a chance to be toward the top of this list you gave?

Look my family and I are homeless now ! my spouse and two teenagers ! And we are all split up ! My two kids are staying with there friends so they can stay in school ! My spouse and I are both on disability food stamps ! This is a government phone ! We both have been trying to get section 8 for almost a year ! Before we got to be homeless ! We couldn't even get on the waiting list ! Then they told us to call back every two are three months!we did that then they told us they were out of money ! We have filled out application a few times are should I say a dozen times and never heard back ! From anyone ever ! And look at my family now split up and homeless at 61 and my spouse 50 ! We lived with my best friend for almost 8 years ! And he didn't have any family ! And he passed away almost two years ago " and didn't have a will ! And know family ! Anyway we tried to buy it we tried to keep paying the payments but the mortgage company kept sending it back because they new he had passed away ! We went to the court house filled out paperwork for a quick sail ! And right at that time they shut everything down the Court House the mortgage company for almost a year because of the virus then finally they start up everything again and didn't inform us about anything and the mortgage company auction the house off right underneath our feet and we got your papers telling us we had to get out after 8 years I'm 61 years old and homeless and my spouse and two kids sleep in the truck two times a week and then at a friend's house here and there been trying to get section 8 for almost a year now it's too late anything you could do we have done everything that we can think of but if you know something we don't we would appreciate it my government phone number is 850-313 90 40 if you get back with me after lunch I have a doctor's appointment I would appreciate it thank you very much to who it May concern ?

So far it looks like my best option will be to find a HUD approved Real Estate Broker to help guide me through the process. Another great video! I’ve been trying to apply to every open hcv program that I don’t make more than the income limit. Which is going to be difficult bc the those are typically in big cities which will have super long wait list. But I read that once I am approved to a hcv program I can ask for disability accommodation to exempt the wait a year to port my voucher into my current area. Have you heard of this?
