Okay, so 1) this was an older version of the game and some of this was worked out. 2) Cyberpunk the .I.P. (the Tabletop game) predates the world wide web AND the lore is a widely divergent timeline. The "internet" as you understand never existed. The USA collapsed in the 90s due to a shadow govt known as the Gang of Four (CIA,FBI,DEA NSA) screwed up the world economy. It would be a lot more worthwhile for you to just look at the time line of events on the wiki for Cyberpunk and react to that.

Some extra lore Johnny Siverhand(Keanu)'s segments feel like power fantasies. Why? Because he's a psychotic narcissist who only remembers what he did and when he was doing something cool or when he feels wronged. It's why when the flashback happens Morgan Blackhand doesn't show up. Because he was the one actually doing most of the heavy lifting, which contradicts his belief that he was the super cool badass who did all this. Also, rather ironically, Johnny, who hates corps with a passion, is actually manipulated into helping attack Arasaka by millitech(Arasaka's rival company). This is why Morgan Blackhand goes with Johnny and why he has so much help attacking the tower(this is also how he got the nuke)

Yeah, your protaginist breaks the game world and the balance of power of the setting so hard, it isn't even funny. They would actually be strong enough to solo Adam Smashed even if he was as kick ass as its Edgerunners anime or tabletop lore counterpart. Speaking of anime, its main characters really put V's ridiculous abilities into perspective. Everyone is genuinely impressed by their netruner pulling off a hack on a couple of military drones in a matter of a dozen seconds. People attribute it to natural talent, a ton of experience, even being groomed for the role. Meanwhile V in game can daisy chain fully incapacitating hack throughout a dozen enemies without even breaking a sweat.

Dude this... at one point I started having doubts while cleaning the NCPD markers around night city. Like yeah they may be criminals and yes prolly slaughtered civies armed to the teeth with tech and weaponry, but as a net runner daisy chaining hacks and knocking them out and finishing them off... i dunno how to feel about it. Just the idea lorewise that these gonks put time and effort to prep only for V to wipe em out with nary a sweat with only consolation of a swift death.

I actually don't mind that the majority of side missions in cyberpunk are just "go kill people" , I just wish they were distinct on the map (gigs vs jobs idk). Second complaint is that the different groups of enemies should 1. fight differently and 2. we need a NG+ mode where all enemies are max level and the difference between them is the style of their fighting, not their level

The gas costing more in California makes sense when you consider that back in the 90s the smog in some California cities was so bad breathing outside for too long on certain days could make you seriously ill. It may be inconvenient to pay more for gas but at least the stricter gasoline standards seems to have resulted in not having to breathe poisoned air.

The Cybepunk's lore is pretty extenisve, especially when it comes to 2020 TTRPG. Almost every source and adventure book for it is interesting to read, but I will, however, outline the most appropriate for your kind of content in my opinion: Maximum Metal - contains information about military vehicles and how they used in combat; Home of the Brave - source book for New United States of America, also contains info anout its military forces; Deep Space - source book that reveals information about the extent of space exploration in general and the solar system in particular. There are also rules for those who want to try do some stuff in the space; Firestorm - Stormfront and Firestorm - Shockwave - adventure books about 4th Corporate war. Stormfront tells the story of the early phase of the war, when only two maritime transport and maritime research companies (CINO and OTEC respectively) were involved in the conflict, so most of the skirmishes take place under or on the water. The second part of this book deals with the so-called. "Shadow War" - confrontation between two large corporations Arasaka and Militech, hired by CINO and OTEC as support. The conflict takes place in a latent phase, intelligence, counter-intelligence and special forces are actively used. Shockwave describes the "hot" phase of the war when Arasaka and Militech went into open combat.
