I think expecting UE5 to be the magic bullet for performance is a mistake. So far every game regardless of engine has had major performance issues across the board this generation. There needs to be a better distinction between tools that enable developers to do more in less time and real world performance. Lumen and Nanite and all the bells and whistles haven't translated to the user experience that was marketed at the start of this generation of gaming equipment. They lead us all to believe that these new advancements would lead to better performance in a context that was misleading imo. They had us all thinking gaming 60 to 120 fps would be doable at every resolution and that the new apis would solve scaling and load management. So far that has not happened. What we've found is the developers have more head room and are using as much as they can, but they are not optimizing their games. They are in a mind set that they have to use all the headroom at the cost of frames and latency. There is also technical deficit in people who know how to optimize games to modern APIs and work with windows on PC. This is why we have so many issues with games not using system components efficentally and sometime not at all. I just don't see how UE5 or any engine is going to fix all that.

I honestly can't wait for the next Cyberpunk and The Witcher. Despite Cyberpunk 2077's rough launch, the devs stuck with and improved it as much as they could. Gamers have that "bully mentality" where they laugh at failure and never acknowledge improvement - and that's fine. Honestly the Americanizing thing sounds a bit worrying. As far as technical stuff. Go for it. Like the infrastructure and what not. But they did really good with factions. Almost all factions in the game have ties that can extend back to modern day easily. Valentino’s, voodoo boys, the nomads, those patriot mfs. They nailed it in terms of okay what happens to the American population as this word progressively deteriorates under the might of corporations. And honestly that’s the other worrying thing. I do NOT want to “Americanize” a cyberpunk story. Cyberpunk is anti establishment and anti corpo. I just hope they don’t start making the corpo characters too sympathetic or try to push the narrative that there’s pros and cons to the corps. It would destroy the genre.

*I was so psyched for CP2077 (as most of us were). The first playable demo that was shown at the game convention was played on a (new at that time) GTX 1080 Ti. Since then, we have seen the RTX 2080, RTX 3080, RTX 4080, and soon the RTX 5080. This game is still demanding on the newest cards. LoL!!* *I just wish CDPR kept their original promise of: "Each NPC has their own lives and if you follow them, they each do their own thing, whether it is going to their own home, to a store, etc."* *Instead, if you follow the NPCs, they just walk 70 feet, stop, and walk back. Over and over. That was the one feature I really wanted to see.*

YUUP deff think the AI will be a much bigger focus in the sequel
@finesseandstyleАй бұрын
That is a little ambitious imo, because if NPCs can go back to their homes that'd mean the whole city is entirely accessible, which I don't believe for a second will happen at least without a lot of cheating and asset reusing

I have a RTX 3090 and it runs fine on ultra settings no DLSS no Ray Tracing, around 90fps but it's on 1080P. It should produce this numbers on like a 3070 level card not on a card that was top of the line when the game came out.

I liked the vibe of the original Cyberpunk better when it came out than after all the Americanized changes. This is why they lost my Cyberpunk2 preorder. I will wait for it at SALE. I know that my few dollars are absolutely irrelevant, and I know that my opinion is absolutely unnecessary, but... that's how it is

My burning question, will V return for Project Orion??? Personally, it feels like V has to return.
@thekaiser6842Ай бұрын
If we have the same team behind Phantom Liberty at the helm then I am confident the sequel will be extraordinary. My personal desire however is that they continue the story of V and Johnny. There were so many questions left unanswered by most of the endings of the game. Most particularly the Johnny-Rouge/Johnny suicide mission ending. Working with the ever so cryptic Mr. Blue Eyes left us with a massive cliffhanger. There is such rich potential in the lore of the black wall and rouge AI’s and the game gave us such an air of fear and mystery behind it. That and grumbling of another corporate war… It would provide an excellent backdrop for a sequel with V and possibly Johnny. Mr Blue eyes and his mysterious background (it’s somewhat alluded that he’s a rouge AI manipulating humanity) and connections that could possibly help V survive the relic without compromising his life or competence as a merc. It would be a perfect narrative backdrop for a sequel, navigating the intrigue and uncertainty of another cooperate war as you work for Mr Blue Eyes in exchange for a cure and slowly uncover who he truly is learning more about what lies behind the blackwall. A narrative such as this would allow the writers to retain the same magic which originally made the V and Johnny dynamic such a great character duo and pave way for much more exciting themes in which made Phantom Liberty such an exceptional story. I don’t want to see V and Johnny’s story end just after one game. I see so much potential continuing it forward as a trilogy, similar to what CDPR did with Geralt of Rivia in this Witcher series.
@MrJoshtheguy1Ай бұрын
I think Orion will be about Matrix style netrunner/operators who travel back and forth between the blackwall and reality, for the purpose of trying to recover old war technologies. The good guys are hunting malicious actors trying to find nuclear codes or something, and inadvertently releasing malicious Ai passed the blackwall. The antagonists are trying to create another alternate, but unregulated, network within the blackwall. Protected from malicious Ai, which acts as a defensive barrier, a Cell of threat actors performs Cyber crimes using unpatchable 0 Day exploits or something. in Orion you choose to help the New internet form and defend itself against Ai. Or you help militech infiltrate the black wall like Neo in the matrix. That's my prediction!

If Orion is to CP2077 what New Vegas was to Fallout 3, then yes. Asset flip, new stuff, focus on plot and stuff while keeping what already works. We are in an age where games don't need to look better anymore. Red dead 2 had perfect graphics, now we can go back to making great games.

7:16 No it did not take place in LA, it takes place in Night City, geographically it is a coastal city near modern day Monteray, and was a "designer" city built by Richard Night, who was murdered during construction and thus they named the city after him. LA still exists in setting and is the capitol city of the state of Southern California.

Cyberpunk is a tabletop role-playing game in the dystopian science fiction genre, written by Mike Pondsmith and first published by R. Talsorian Games in 1988. It is typically referred to by its second or fourth edition names, Cyberpunk 2020 and Cyberpunk Red, in order to distinguish it from the cyberpunk genre after which it is named.

6:45 In the game it's taken place in a dystopia amercan/ Japanese setting a different version of LA. To make it feel like your in an amercan/japanese setting I would research hoe signs ate projected in both countries, how things are placed like the man hole covers and what not.

To be honest I'm more than a little bitter we aren't getting a couple more expansions. Phantom Liberty sold exceptionally well, so it is absolutely commercially viable. I feel like the game's life cycle being cut short is like the buyers being punished for CDPR's launch disaster. Not fair. The People demand MOAR!

I bought 2077 day one. Did it have bugs? Yes. But, it didn't have any more bugs than most other AAA games being released lately. The difference in my eyes is this. CDPR tried. They immediately went into salvage mode to make their game better, and they not only did that, they made it better than even they had planned. I think having bugs during release is going to happen no matter who makes a game, you can't plan for everything. But I think it's more important how they handle those bugs and treat the customers, and CDPR never failed that mark in my eyes

You’d assume they would do 3 years of development on the actual game, then extra 2 years for touchups like whether or not they do multiplayer, seeing they already completed the research and development phase will get it in 5 years or less, as long as there are no problems.
