Caging Songbird felt like a pretty evil choice just to get a new ending and although V keeps his life he loses everything in the process.

Alright so: River becomes a corrupt cop and is too ashamed to continue on with the relationship. Judy moves on and gets MARRIED! Panam won’t even bother talking to you And Kerry moves on, with an empty promise to come back. AND we lose Johnny. After everything, our V doesn’t get a true happy ending. They’re alone. I mean, if we look on the bright side, I guess, V still had their original family. Misty, Viktor, Mama Welles… but still sucks that the friends and romances you’ve made along to way just move on, knowing that you were dying.

She’s the fan favorite out of all the romances, so seems weird she doesn’t even make an appearance to say goodbye.

@@whosaprettykitty5076 Misty and Viktor both move away. They are the only oneswho even still care about V but Misty chooses to move to Poland and Vik is relocated by ZT. Mama Welles might still be around but isn't really that close to V unless you are a Corpo where V uses to live with her. It's also explained that Panam simply wants nothing to do with V anymore. Her text messages confirm her rage too. She cussed at V and was very mad at him ghosting. Which makes absolutely no sense because she knew he was dying and she knew he was getting surgery and should have at least considered he might have finally died and obviously wasn't ignoring her.

@@aden8355 Mama Wells and V are close with all life paths (she considers V a son/daughter and refers to her as family regardless of your life path) I 1000% agree with you when it comes to Panam too. If she seriously isn’t in any trouble/dead and is just mad at V for ghosting, that would be the stupidest shit ever. “I know you’re dying and all V, and trying your hardest to find a solution to save your life BUT HOW DARE YOU NOT CALL ME?!” I love Panam, but if that’s what they turned her character in to, idk

Don’t know why V couldn’t push River into trying to work things over again, he clearly still loves V compared to Panam. And a crippled V makes sense for the romance option that just wants to settle down

Since they still have each other's contact AND the fact that V is still alive with ample years ahead, I think there's plenty a chance for another spark to be lit, much more hopeful than some other uncertain or devastating endings. ’Sides, knowing River, he's a protective heroic type still, probably wouldn't let a defenseless V comes to any harm.

Also they purposefully kept all endings vague, so I guess it fits better and make sense for them to keep this one vague as well.

This is not really sad ending for V. For him/her it's basically a new beginning. While sad about the losses she/he can have an actual decent life. Even a paperwork job at Langley is better then being a merc and die young.

The only saving grace of this is the voice actor. I'm gonna be that person and say wtf is with his appearance change? Everybody else got an outfit change but he just gets this weird default goatee slapped on. If they were going for unkempt like he stopped taking care of his appearance, wouldn't his hair grow out too? Wouldn't he have a full beard since you have to maintain a goatee?

They desperately wanted to have "you can't have it all" ending, so broke all characters for the idea that you betray Johnny for staying alive, but everybody else will abandon you and you will have your life, but it would be lonely and boring. So no happy ending - the best you can get either you die with fame/loved ones or you live solitary

Yeah. I feel like they tried so hard to stray away from “sunshine cliche” they did a 180 and ran smack dab into “edgy” cliche. But a decent medium is not CDPR’s forte. With cyberpunk at least.

Yeah. This ending was overkill. Literally everybody just forgetting about you and not giving a damn about you in just 2 years is a ridiculous idea. 2 years is not a lot of time. Reed didn't see Alex and So Mi for 7 years and despite having been betrayed by So Mi he still was closer to her than anyone was to V. V losing all combative abilities and not remaining a legend was enough. Being ignored and abandoned by everyone is just overkill and feels like a forced bad ending.

honestly I think backing out on the roof is the good ending to phantom liberty. Depending on what you did, Reed, Alex and Song (albeit under service again) are alive, and you show Johnny you're willing to back out of certain safety to try and save him too (c'mon he totally expects V to go with the option and him lashing out at V is just to cope with the knowledge he's about to die, you completely take the wind out of his sails by choosing to back out and he doesn't know how to respond other than a humbled 'thank you V... I... Thanks.')

The one good thing about this ending is the doctor stating that the "neural network degradation is reversible." This gives me hope about the nomad ending. Panam talks about going to see their contacts to cure V. I doubt these doctors in this ending are the only ones who can cure it.

Nomad ending would be perfect if V wasn’t an engram by that point. Sadly, V dies in the chair in Mikoshi and what remains in the nomad ending is a copy.

Why changing the ending to a pice of shit ending, worst ending ever, and I am very disspointet cdpr, this dlc could have been so much better, base game was so much better, why would you even make the dlc take place in the middle of the main game story, so stupid and make no sense, could have made a dlc that takes place before the main game story or after, and most importent don't fuck up the ending and story, so sad that it didn't live up to what I expected 😥, got to give it a 4/10

It's sad that River honestly says that he wanted to see her even though he resented her. At the same time, River must have loved her even though she hadn't heard from her in two years, feeling betrayed. He must have thought of V from time to time when River got into that kind of thing, right? Huh... I loved river too... Now let's forget about the driver and make a new boyfriend lol 2 month later, i change my mind. I'll must find river and say him "You are still my love. Solve this problem together. in all of the action I'm shocked that V never thought to just accept the relic; hear me out, So going into Mikoshi absolutely kills you. We get turned into an engram by alt, and the body rejects us as we are unnaturally split from Johnny Alt then goes on to say that she fixed copy errors these might have been how johnny was influencing us to go into the tower and why he became so sympathetic and kind to V, as you can see most of the endings are us moving against Arasaka or sticking it to the authorities (something regular V did not fully care about.) That all said it is assured that messing with the relic or getting rid of Johnny maims or flat out kills V. Not a single ending lets v just let the process go through best ending and the gamer ending would be you do all the gigs and when v goes to sleep or collapses he or she is no longer just V or Johnny but a mix of the two characters you remember you r romance and keep it going and you keep all of your cyberware you are still living as V but you have the Rocker boy rebilious side kinda like a double legend. It's just the best possible ending for V in my mind. xD

I mean. There is some hope here for V and River. Panam refuses to interact with you and Judy moves on and gets married but River is still technically around. He's mostly just depressed about the choices he's made and doesn't know how to face you (or himself). I feel like the possibility of you reconciling down the road is still there? Especially when we're no longer a Merc and have the opportunity to start over in Night City.

The dlc itself was fantastic and I loved it but the new ending feels like some writer got pissed off and said "if you want V to survive everything and everyone will suck now, fuck you". The setup itself is good with V not being able to use cyberware, but everyone acting like V is a villain is both OoC and stupid. Doesn't help that this is the only ending where V writes a damn text message instead of calling.

@@Kek393nah I think it’s suppose to be a wake up call to players, trying to tell them that you’re not special, and that the world doesn’t revolve about you V (you the player) and eventually life will move on with or without you. This ending is well deserved for players without a conscience who think giving Songbird away to be caged like a bird was the right call, you will live, but at what Price? I rather Reed and the Myers not giving a damn about me than having Songbird suffer a fate worse than death because of a corrupt government. So if you want to play the best version of V? Play with a moral compass in mind as it seems to fit well with V’s character and it helps shapes your own canon. But the tower ending may not be canon to V, but it’s canon in a lot of aspects, whether V becomes a legend, saves Johnny, or go with Alt, or live out his or her days with Panam. Nothing will be the same. Either way, V will disappear or die, same with Johnny, and everyone will move on and live their best life. If you ask me, Fear the reaper is the best ending. No one you love will die or get hurt, sure Panam will be sad. But Atleast she’ll still have Sol and her clan. you’re going out a legend, no one has to die because you’re a coward in not wanting to take things in your own hands. This is your problem, no one has to get involved your affairs with Johnny. If you ask me, you should let Johnny take your body because either way, you’re not getting out of this in 6 months, and even if there is a cure to prevent your death, there is 100% a cost for it. The game was rigged from the start but Atleast fear the reaper, everyone knows you Atleast made an impact and everyone will see you as legend that killed Smasher, and never stopped fighting.

There is no real reason why anyone should trust a word out of anyone from Arasaka. Their is a chance that V is essentially going to be Arasaka's new Adam Smasher. It would have just been better to have him die while saving someone during the past 2 years. At least go out in a blaze of glory with his dignity in tact.
