Wow, one of the very few people that actually presented the whole story with Cyberpunk, at least so far. The videos even though very long, were not boring to sit through, they had a very cleanly laid out structure, compared to most "video essays" people do. Very nice work, will come back to watch other materials for sure and I look forward to more.

Clearly, CDPR was not getting legal advice, or they never would have told investors & the public, "the game runs surprisingly well on last-gen consoles..." just weeks before the disastrous release. Any corporate attorney would've advised not releasing the game on last-gen consoles; they could've done a staggered launch or done an open beta or "early access" like many large games do now. In that situation, players know what they are getting into & they're willing to tolerate bugs in order to help the dev make a polished game. If you look at the example of Larian with Baldur's Gate 3, they are still charging $60 for the game in Early Access & it's one of the best selling games on Steam. From both a financial & a legal standpoint, that is the best path

Sony delisted the game just because when they agreed to no questions asked full refunds they had no choice because had they not, a metrick fuckton of people would have bought it, played for however they wanted and gottwn a refund.. the bugs and glitches had nothing to do with it.. so yeah its about money and also bit about PR because cdpr tried to scapegoat them..

Its just $hit. If you design a story, you better know how you want it to end! Everything else has a very high chance to lead to another Mass Defect 3 disaster! We all got lucky Breaking Bad ended so well. Because up until the last Season, some major scenes didn't even have a connection. They just threw $hit into the movie, without knowing what to do with it. Breaking Bad could have ended in a disaster. Completely ruining the show. That is something that should be avoided, so write a F. ending to your god damn story first!

Unfortunately, I will have to disagree with Kiloton on this issue. Ultimately, Cyberpunk 2077 is 25% of the game we were promised, so even if Seedy PR restores cut content, it will still only be 50% of what we we paid for. In 5 years we will be talking about Cyberpunk 2077 the same way we talk about Anthem and Fallout 76; a fatally flawed catastrophe. Time will not be kind to Cyberpunk 2077 either, because while games like Fallout 4 and Skyrim were buggy, they do have a strong foundation upon which greatness can be built upon. Conversely, Cyberpunk 2077 is a ridiculous hodge-podge of poorly implemented, half-assed concepts that are more of an incomprehensible jumble that a rewarding skill tree. One primary flaw being a failure to include *proper* weapons crafting & customization, which is crucial to immersion, among other things. I should note that I shilled extremely hard for Cyberpunk 2077 before launch, but after about 2 hours of play, I discovered the game is a hopeless, bug-ridden dumpster fire that in no way resembled the trailers. In the end, Cyberpunk 2077 should have easily eclipsed every game before it, but in reality, it is blown out of the fucking water by GTA 5 from 2013, and even Deus Ex Human Revolution, a 10 year old release. A free "No Man's Sky" rework would be the beginning of the redemption arc, not the end if it. tl;dr seedy pr can suck my greasy c*ck

I agree 100%. The company bold-faced lied to all of the Gaers while making exclusive merch for companies that reviewed and lied for them through disgusting marketing. Fuck them. 21K is playing on PC (probably a high-end), so he can make excuses for the game because he's playing the best version. I guarantee if he was playing on the base consoles soley, his message would be much, much different. Most can't afford a high-end PC and Millions can't even find a PS5 or XBOX Series X, so the real criticism is coming from those people suffering through it all.
@gulskjegglive
@gulskjegglive 3 жыл бұрын
@@2cents4u A key point you bring up is, people are suffering. Console players most of all. Since when is misery an acceptable aspect of game development?
@2cents4u
@2cents4u 3 жыл бұрын
@@gulskjegglive then they tied that misery to Rating Scores of the game and they knew the game would be a failure on release so many of those hard working devs got nothing because the ratings of the game fell to the toilet. CDPR is right up there with the rest of the trash industry, cause they're not an underdog anymore with all that cash they've been getting over the years and making these decisions. Prove they want to play the same games the big dogs are playing with the respect of the consumers and gamers alike. Any company that treat the consumer this way, should fail hard for disrespecting the people that made their companies "great".

I felt that it was very linear & I couldn't "play how u want in a cyberpunk future" like CDPR promised. The only option u get is to play as tough-guy Vee with edgy bro Johnny in his head. I think you're bang on the money with your Sony store withdrawal theory. With regards to other motives they may have. I believe it's because Sony's own games usually sweep up the shill game awards. They saw this game as a threat contender, so have gone out their way to cause more hatred towards it. They want to ensure their title (like God Of War Ragnarok) gets an easier win this year.

Homeworld imo hit it out of the park w.r.t almost all aspects of the game...Story, lore, graphic, vo, music, levels, ui etc. Unfortunately that game came out in an era where the game companies actually cared and treated their game as a product that they actually cared for.....not the live service bs that we have today. Thankfully gearbox at least managed NOT to screw it up with the remaster. Dude you really need to make a video highlighting some of the best games and practices that were followed up until early 2010. Come to think of it, the old games played at high resolution with all effects maxed out, still makes me happy for this hobby of ours. Modern AAA games can go screw themselves.

homeworld 2 was far better for me at least in the multiplayer aspect ( loved the normal mode but also the SW mod :D). i personally would say that i liked HW2 on more things than HW1. on the other topic of masterpieces. i still play BL1. that is by far THE most rewarding game if you want to get the feeling of earning a loot drop. farming the armory over and over just in the hope of the elusive pearl or even rarer legendary eridian (and yes, im at like 26 pearls und just 1 of each of the eridians, which means i was lucky to not get a dupe..). borderlands 2 started to soften this reward feeling. now on shitagendapushing3, the loot is so common, you start NOT picking up legendaries, just bc they are not even close to worth your time.

We're still using the marterpiece argument? Unless people are being biased, the game should judged by all the content, not just what's good. That includes all the mind numbing police fetch quests, all 100 of them. The game should also be judged by all the problems pointed out in this review. I really don’t understand how you felt anything for Jackie when you spend 15, 20 minutes tops with him. For most people you need to spend a lot more time with a character to feel any kind of connection with them and you definitely need to spend a lot more than 20 minutes with them to feel something when they die. I feel like that with a lot of the characters in cyberpunk so no you don’t have a black soul if you don’t care about the characters, nice strawman by the way argument. The game has to make you feel something for them and cyberpunk does a horrible job at that so how can a story be good if doesn’t make you feel anything? Also how can the game expect you to feel something for the character you have spent 15 minutes and is killed instantly? These are all signs of bad story telling

bc he was well written, funny and interesting. but yeah, you are right. bad story telling. killing of a "friend" to make your "antagonist" more evil just means one thing, you suck at making your antagonist evil. why didnt they show us parts of takamuras story? orphaned childs rummaging in the oil fields for food or being used as child soldiers by arasaka. THAT would have make us hate them. killing jackie did only one thing for me - hating the main story. im about to start the heist on my second play through and i just dont want to. maybe if there more content and the game is polished i can overlook it.

Ten minutes into this review I realised that I was going to stick with CP2077. I have restarted it for a third time with the release of the latest patch. There is a difference. This game is a toy. It will be fixed. In a few years it will have all blown over, CP2077 multiplayer might be ridiculous and just maybe CD Projekt will have won back a few hearts, Hello Games style.......and make a shit ton of money. The game will be bought again even on old gen. CDPR is taking cues from Rockstar. Playing the long game. Keep the game in the news. What are sales numbers like after 1.1 ? Performance is persuasive enough for a next gen buy. Game has been in the news. This is how it goes. This is how the games live longer. Release broken, piss off the KZbinrs then make steady money whilst fixing the game. Everything from Ubisoft.

CP2077 is depressing. Not in what it is, but what it could be. And why it is the way it is. Theres clearly potential there. And with the real cyberpunk distopia being within the CDPR offices that's no surprise. Perhaps if the guys at the top actually put money where their mouth is things would be different but they weren't. No way they could have delayed the game again especially after spending millions on marketting. But that shows that money talks. But man, the game is still fun in places. I still think its a fun game albeit super flawed the way it is right now.

I think that was probably meant to incorporate the acid rain & pollution issues that are present in the tabletop game. Think how awesome it would've been if the city changed for these severe weather factors. Even now in big cities like Delhi India there are red alert days for pollution, so I think that should be present in any 'realistic' cyberpunk game

I keep saying it and i'll say it again... You actually mentioned it indirectly, just did not connect the dots. By saying (for the consoles anyway) "It runs better than expected", they were not lying. Even in its state at the time, the game could still have been running better than they expected. I don't mean to excuse them by this, but i don't understand how everybody can claim they lied, when technically, they did not. The issue is, that there is no process for the consumer to assure a game is actually functunional before hitting the digital shelves. Thanks for this extensive review series tho, well done indeed. I was among those who played it on PC with an RX580 and i barely ran into any bugs too. And even if i have, they were just minor issues. Spent over 100 hours with it and i'm planning to return to it in the coming months hoping for some of the issues to be patched up (the police for example).

What I love about this extensive review is the sense I get of what true gamers (speaking as a gen-x old fart) got out of gaming in their formative years - a complete, albeit flawed experience that tries to push the envelope within the boundaries of not grooming its clientele to accept the shit-milkshake of micro-transactions and other fuckery. It seems like the industry is caught between a rock and a hard place. On one hand you have EA and Ubisoft brainwashing gamers to see spending fifty quid on a game as a logical first step to an ongoing financial drain of play-to-win features and pretty skins on their rifles and on the other hand you get Fallout: The Frontier, where people with good intentions find out that if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys (by monkeys I mean sex-offenders). It’s very refreshing to hear a level-headed and massively critical review that nevertheless praises CDPR for keeping the spirit of pay what you get for alive, even if they screwed the pooch by telling a fistful of blatant lies. It’s also made me very interested in the game, built as it clearly is on narrative and ambition. As a result of your videos I’ve deleted Epic off my computer and I tell my children (I’m an English teacher) to play games that don’t encourage you to rob your parents. Cheers fella.

I think a big contributing factor to the Cyberpunk 2077 pooch-screw was the investors. From the time the Witcher 3 was published to now CDPR became a much larger developer and more investors bought into their company, believing it would be a major profit for them. As the game kept getting pushed back I think their investors put more and more pressure on the CDPR execs to get the game out so they could see a return on their investments. I'm not putting ALL the blame on the investors, but I have no doubts them caring more about their money than the company's reputation and credibility played a major role.

@5:10 this is the sole reason I refunded this game. As a melee katana build, nothing sucks more than getting one shot'd by exploding barrel only to reload the game ps4 speed. The last time it happened during the mission to takeout the snipers and it crashed. Deleted and applied for the refund only to get it 2 weeks later, thankfully. I wish the developers luck because I don't even think the PC crowd is going to perpetually fool themselves into thinking this is a good game unless the modding scene basically finishes the game for them. That actually might be a possibility.

You know what is sad. CP2077 for me is the game of the decade. But for CDPR the door is closed now. To my community I say following. It was the promise. Promise not about the game, not about the performance. It was A PROMISE of idealogy. Ideology of fair and trusted relationship between publisher/developer and a player. This ideology, this promise sold the game. CDPR management spit on it, shit on it, burn it alive, while dancing around in KKK masks (I am not crazy journalist and my family and country suffered a lot from Nazis, Soviets etc, so choose other type of masks if you need to). And at game developers Nuremerg trial they said we did not expect that. So... I will take my time to enjoy the game of the decade and then get back to pre-CDPR mindset. It's sad.

This is just Fallout 4 over again, they stripped out all the RPG elements and just made an open world action FPS. Many of us came to play an RPG, like we were promised for 8 years, based on a famous tabletop RPG system with over 30 years of history. Cyberpunk 2077 is not an RPG at all, it's an open world action game, basically like GTA in the future. It doesn't matter how good aspects of the game may be, those of us who are RPG players, who were expecting an RPG and didn't get one, don't care if it's a good action game. It's not an RPG, so I'm not interested, no sale. Period.

Garbage games that take a few months to make with the same amount of time to polish get raved about such as battlefield, cod, sports games, forzas horizon, all ubisoft games (the ladder are just cheap games but are never polished). But when a game multiples in scale and scope comes and has a texture bug, every screeching cry baby heads to the forums, its actually nice to see it doesn't just happen to BGS games. What's funny about that is BGS games have far less bugs than most games and are vastly superior to 99% of them out there, and people still screech. Cyberpunk should be praised for being 10 times the size of all cod, BF, Forza Horizon, and ubisoft games. For the first game of this type they made a damn good one. Can't wait for the second one.

Good finale. I think Sony removed it because CDPR said everybody who wanted a refund would get it without talking to Sony, MS etc. first. Sony hates refunds, keep in mind that there have been cases in the past where people were denied refunds simply because they downloaded the game they bought. I think Sony wanted to make absolutely sure people understood this is an extraordinary situation in regards to refunds and removed the game from their online store because of that but also to send a clear message to other devs and to get back at CDPR.

36:30 you probably have already found out the answer by now but sony said the reason why they took down cyberpunk was cd offering refunds was against their tos as they don't give refunds for any reason (at the time, don't know about now). so putting out disfunctional broken games with the most disgusting monetization schemes is a-ok but you can't then offer refunds for it.
