Girls that eat bugs, throwing turds at people, and baby smuggling. What is there not to like! Welcome to Death Stranding. Its even stranger than me.
Special thanks to Mario J. Martinez, Jason T Barnes, Dean McGee, Steve, Alcoholistair, RageDMX47, Hector Salamanca and all of my Patreon supporters. Their stoic support humbles me.

The divisiveness of this game is a sight to behold. We ought to take a snapshot of this current year and see how opinions of this game change over the years. And also, see how this game (from its gameplay to its setting and story) affects what we may see in other games further down the line. Your video was a great watch! Keep on keeping on! 👍
@21Kiloton
@21Kiloton 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dangitjm. I think you have an excellent point. I have continued to rack up hours on this game, and I continue to find it increasingly compelling. As someone else pointed out in a review, the detail of the terrain and environment is incredible. You dont see repetition in the rocks and ground, as if every square metre was individually crafted. This said it appeals to people who want to "play" rather than "win". I personally think that Death Stranding has been an easy source of memes and humour in the short term, but in the long term I think it will be viewed as a rather self-conscious, and muddled, masterpiece. But masterpiece nevertheless. However, since the gameplay will only appeal to a certain type of person, there will never be a shortage of people ready to immediately dismiss it as garbage. At the end of the day, there are genres of games that I dont like, but that doesnt make them shit. Thank you for giving me food-for-thought.

I love your ability to put into words whatever you try to express. If you are serious you capsulate it with your own style. Often with a tongue in cheek attitude. If you are sarcastic, you use just the right amount of Acid to sting and Mark your "victim". And when you don't give a Fu*k you don't hold back. It can only be done this way when personality/attitude & mastery of word blend together perfectly 😁👌 Thanks a lot for hours of pure unfiltered Entertainment 😇👍

The guy is different and you get some odd stuff, but at least it isn't cookie cutter formulaic easy monies. I remember he was obsessed with breast physics, or that is how the media sold the story to me many moons ago. It wasn't offensive at some point, but then I guess it became an issue and he didn't want to sacrifice his artistic vision. He upped his game or whatever, doubling down and adding groping to some titles apparently, though I missed when that was a fuss and it seems most sources I could find had retracted posts about the conversation between himself and Yoshida. I'm cool with it though, because if people don't like the design choices then they can choose to not buy the games and let the free market dictate what the consumer wants. I felt the stuff was immature and the like, but I also am a graphics whore and physics are a part of that and when polygons became a graphics option he got into that deep. I will pretty much always applaud developers that want to push the envelope on graphics. Also, MGS Sons of Liberty on PS was so friggin weird that I don't expect Kojima's stuff to make sense and I sort of anticipate him fucking with immersion because that video game gets you immersed and then the general or whatever literally tells your character that he's part of a video game. He's a guy that probably could have only ever broken into the market in Japan, so it is good to have some creators that got in and still exist at AAA levels where they don't crap out the usual canned spam games. Sony: "We're going to need to decide on a limit to the breast touching." Kojima: "Oh gimme a break!"

@@lazygamer4746 Policenauts is what the internets tells me. It might have been scrubbed from other titles, I'm admittedly too lazy to conduct my due diligence other than the 'Policenauts' response. A touch of internets searchdom should fill in the blanks, if they're credible and haven't been scrubbed by Konami and/or Kojima.

Kojima is no Tarkovsky, the latter being the master of the obscure but atmospheric film that works on the viewers subconscious. But then Russian auteurs had to smuggle messages into their work tacitly during the Soviet era. Kojima on the other hand stuck his mitt into a scrabble back of Quantum Physics terminology and rearranged them fridge magnet stylee.

I love it all wholesale, so my snobbery was greatly offended. And, when you get the actor Toshiro Mifune in the Kurosawa film you get an idea of perfection in film. I'm not really a film snob, but I definitely am guilty of considering Kurosawa for best director of all-time alongside my other common snob favorite of Stanley Kubrick. I do prefer Kurosawa's samurai era content over his other works, which I still hold in high regard, but that is due to other nerdery.

I have been trying to figure it out and I came up with this: For anyone played an original XCOM style game (not the reboots) ... if you enjoyed the micromanagement and research part of the game MORE than the missions and combat, you will probably like this game. There is a distinct OCD element to this. Im probably making things worse lol. Great to see you Gnu. All the best to you and yours mate.

Well done, mate, I think - I had no idea of what or who you were talking about for most of the video, including this guy, Kojimmy, but was thoroughly entertained for an hour plus, and for that I am grateful. I am not fussed on walking these days - been doing it for over 40 years and like anything in life, it should be done in moderation, so I guess this game is not for me. The one scene in your video that struck me was the image of the unfinished bridge in the middle of nowhere with the map of the USA painted on its side. In fact there were a lot of bridges and ladders in the video. You at least set out to make a masterpiece game review, and succeeded brilliantly, as usual and as expected. Look forward to the next masterpiece. Cheers, Harry.

I really liked your review. Like you, I also never played Metal Gear and went into this not knowing much about Kojima (besides knowing that he's well respected in the industry). The game made me roll my eyes several times with the unnatural dialog and the heavy use of emojis in the emails 👍💪💦. I got tired of skipping cut scenes and going through enemy territory became annoying (just let me build my highway!). Saying that, I loved this game but it took finishing the game to realize that. Maybe I loved it because it was different and interesting. Regardless, I'm still thinking of this game well after I stopped playing and I think that more AAA studios should take risks. You've also earned a like and a sub from me. 👍🙌

*** Spoilers *** Well said. I found there were some real ballache aspects to this game, but figuring out your own counter is where some of the satisfaction comes from. I found the BT stealthing really tiresome so I just started packing fucktonnes of grenades and just mowing my own path through. Similarly, as soon as I found my first autopaver, I went on a one-man mission to build roads until every last bit of my resources ran dry. Once I figured out the strengths and weaknesses of the vehicles, and had road infrastructure, I could hammer away at the missions and remove some of the more repetative aspects of the game. Death Stranding is flawed, and yeah the emoji/social aspect can be cheesy, but it has something special. Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts.

As for the weird story beats - they are less of an issue if you take a while on the game and spread them out - there are some outright contradictory gameplay elements though - such as how you are told killing is bad - and bodies go boom !! but you can run over Mules with a truck to your hearts content with no consequences.

Kojima probably wouldn't want to make a product that pleased everyone. At this point, he's fairly well known for hot button issue implementation. We generally get a pile of good and bad/odd from the guy's thought box, but we continue to ask for more, presumably so we can perpetuate the outrage machine. Folks that don't like Kojima weirdness should probably just take note and avoid his stuff and allow the guy to continue doing what he does, because at some point it is artistic vision and nobody is forcing players to continue buying and playing his stuff. He's weird and makes weird games with weird design focuses and we've known this ever since Snatcher released in the friggin 1980's. I like his stuff enough to play them, while I invariably find things I don't like and that is a good thing in my opinion. We have a creator here that pushes the envelope and he doesn't make the stuff with the intent to please every single member of the mob, he designs the games and 21Kiloton was discussing films/directors/writers like Tarantino in this review and I feel like it is fair to say Quentin makes films that he'd want to watch and Kojima makes games he'd want to play.

Killing doesnt cause voidouts. Killing causes the person to become a BT, if a BT catched a human being and a the titan devours it... then it causes a voidout.
@90lancaster
@90lancaster 4 жыл бұрын
@@bpmfj5422 Hmm yes I see then a corpse becomes a BT but if there is no living human to consume they just melt into the ground. I still think the Voidout is promoted as a stronger risk - when perhaps it's only a serious risk in a populated area. There is a lot to learn here - though like can BT's only come out during time fall or what else causes them to pop up - I'm not 100% clear on that either. How safe is the Human population underground from BT's or becoming BT's or are they only really protected from the rain and the things in the rain. I'm not entirely sure why a Titan can only slip through when they grab a human too. Or if the white ghostly "Other players" who throw you stuff are actual people or a feature of the game where an NPC is pretending to be a controlled player on the network who is partially visible to you.

Thank you Fergal. Reading your comment reminded me of what happened to XCOM. When they rebooted it, they got rid of most of the "deep" inventory and research management. For me personally, that WAS more than half the game. The management was the game, and the battles were the "test" of how well you were doing. This game will appeal to a certain kind of mindset, and someone who wants a chilled out game experience.

My biggest problem with this their trying to make a movie in a game. Which is fine, there’s been some great movie tie in games. This feels like like just 1 giant cinematic trailer. This game takes the “simulation” game series and makes it boring. They have just made a movie instead

You're incorrect on that. Listen to George Miller director of Mad Max Masterpiece and IGN video with Director of Ghost in the Shell Masterpiece touching on death Stranding. It's more than a movie. Great view bro, Not that this matters at all, I have an Advertising diploma but 80% focused into anthropology (it is important to mention because it was almost 3 years of studying the likes of McLuhan, Bauman, aesthetics theory and Semiotics, etc) and I got really hooked by many of the underlying themes of this game, to be honest, I even though about talking about this thing in a video and start a channel lol. I am glad that you had a positive experience with this game. For all its many faults and idiosyncrasies, I still have it installed, and still plan to play some more when I have the time. It is strangely compelling... and definitely left a permanent impression on me. Christ I Dld some of the sound track to my phone ffs. I would certainly not discourage you from making a video about it. My advice to everyone is "what have you got to lose"? The first video you make will be really hard work, takes 10 times longer than normal because everything is new, and wont turn out the way you thought it would ... but the worst case scenario is that you end up *making a video*. Thats more than 99.9% of people achieve, and you will learn a tonne of skills along the way. Thanks for letting me know how it went Victor.

actually they basically did do everything right as far as copyright is concerned since all of the music was either created FOR this game specifically or they at least worked very closely with the groups who did provide their music. the issue is youtube and twitch (mostly twitch) don't give a shit and their automatic systems are still muting videos even though everyone who owns those rights says it's okay.
