I wouldn’t say he’s “above” Smasher because Smasher has unmatched raw power, especially in 2077, but Morgan is more clever and resourceful and that allows him to close the gap. They fought and stalemated in Arasaka tower during Johnny’s attack, that is how Johnny had the time to get to the roof before Smasher caught back up. Morgan is also far more respected due to his work ethic, he values life very highly and is basically the anti to Smasher’s “metal over meat” mentality. If someone doesn’t have to die then he will not kill them, even going as far as using non lethal rounds on gigs.

@@MrOXSX you are forgetting Alt again. While Songbird was able to hack the whole stadium, it took a heavy toll on her. Alt on other hand, after being jacked into Mikoshi takes control of the whole building as if its nothing. She could do it all day without batting an eye. Songbird dabbled across blackwall. Alt lived in it. That makes her a class apart. Alt as an AI transcended the limitations of a physical form.

It is best to keep in mind that Takemura had all his cyberware disabled because Arasaka kicked him out. I think that Tak will go toe-to-toe with Smasher if he had all his cyberware enabled. He, after all, was the protector of the emperor. Who knows what cyberware he had.

Yeah I mentioned that. I do think it would make sense for him to be Smasher level since he was guarding the top of Arasaka, he just doesn't have the feats to back it up. But I do think he should at bare minimum be Oda level, which is why I placed him as high as I did despite his lack of feats.

Nah Smasher is next level compared to basically everyone except Morgan Blackhand going by the TTRPG, and V going by 2077. Oda technically had the same job as Smasher but Smasher was still regarded as Arasaka’s head of security, he’s a tier above every other bodyguard.

@@Nezxmi Stat wise Andrew Weyland had better stats in the TTRPG iirc than Morgan and some better gear. Morgan had more style and flash though. Not to say Morgan was a pushover just that raw power isn't necessarily how you should rate characters in the Cyberpunk universe Rache Bartmoss is still the uncontested most powerful if we want to talk about raw effects on the world and as I posted somewhere else we don't even know if he's dead dead or possibly could have escaped like Alt did. He was definitely capable of it but we'd need to know more to confirm one way or the other. I mean his death is pretty inconsistent in the books and he was a close peripheral of Spider who at one point had access to soulkiller itself so its not out of the question that he could be hiding beyond the blackwall cooking up something to finish what he started when he unleashed the RABIDs.

I disagree with Johnny being that high. He was strong enough to break into Arasaka tower, but his ego is so astronomically large that it's likely that his *memory* of that event, which is specifically what we experience, is greatly exaggerated.

Yeah his memories might have been exaggerated, but it's really the only thing we have to go off of, and we at bare minimum know he killed Akira, who is a high level body guard with a Sandevistan. That should at least make him around high tier, or at the absolute lowest mid tier if you want to argue Akira isn't as high as I put him.

There’s a lot of implications that Johnny’s memories are actually false, and are skewed so he appears as the hero since that’s how he sees himself. For instance, canonically it was Morgan Blackhand who placed the nuke in Arasaka Tower and he fought Smasher on the rooftop, not Johnny. Blackhand was also Smasher’s main rival, not Johnny.

The thing about being OP when playing as Johnny is it's not very lore accurate since your seeing things happen in his warped perspective. Alt says it when you first meet her that the events Johnny recount aren't what actually happened, like the attack on the tower he wasn't the lead man on that he was just a tag along.

V is actually top of the top when you think about based off their canonical abilities. Regardless of choice of cyberware, you can deck them out with cyberware in every part of his body, and post 2.0, you can even enhance that cyberware due to the relic, which takes the load of that cyberware, thanks to its abilities. On top of all that, cyberpsychosis is almost impossible for V. They’ve taken on so many legends and came out unscathed as ever, and I don’t think anyone else on this list can do a solo assault on Arasaka tower, and not die. Hell, the only way V does die is because of soul killer technically, and natural causes because of the relic.

I think this tier list misses a few spots, so Ill give you my thoughts on it to see whats your take on this things: 1- Im pretty certain Rebecca is Mid tier. As a low tier cyber, she wouldnt have made it alive all the way to the end in David's team. David's team became the BEST cyberpunk team during his time. So not taking this under consideration is a miss. 2- Lucy is DEFINITIVELY high tier. It is shown all throughout the anime that she was able not only to hack into Arasaka ices, but she took down every single other netrunner that was thrown at her. She also had decent hand to hand abilities, so if this doesnt puts her in high tier, I dont know what does. Not being able to hack Adam Smasher is one thing; hes a freaking LEGEND, one of the three most prominent cybers in the lore. This wouldnt put her in mid tier out of that! 3- Morgan Blackhand NEEDS to be in the Legend tier. He is the only other cyber considered to be just as powerful as Adam Smasher in the lore, and discussed by many to be even MORE powerful than him. 4- Johnny Silverhand is NOT elite, he was also a Legend. People lower him because he died against Smasher; again, a big misconception IMO. Johnny was an incredible gunslinger, a top cyber ops, and he was able to freaking take down Arasaka tower and fight Smasher while at it. The mere fact he has a drink by his name in the Afterlife takes absolutely any type of consideration to put him lower out; only legends make it into those drinks, nuff said. 5-Delamain is a completely run AI service with so much cybergear on its cabs, that its able to stand on its own against police, maxtac, arasaka and militech. I think you GROSSLY underestimated their combat capabilities. Those are my 5 cents :) Fun tier list to look at

The thing with Johnny taking down the Tower, is that you could argue that Rogue could do the same feat had she simply been carrying the bomb. And the power gap between Johnny and Rogue is pretty large. Taking down the Tower was a multi person team effort, and Johnny offered nothing of substance to it. Even in the game, it was hinted that another crew was distracting Arasaka, and they were able to drop the bomb in before Arasaka could react. And when they did react, the got Johnny killed, lol. Rogue realistically could have been in Johnny's shoes and accomplished the same.

@@nauscakes1868 I think you misunderstand; yes its a feat that was done thanks to multiple people helping, but that doesnt changes the fact that Johnny went into the tower and was a vanguard, him and rogue, alone the both of them. Now, you might think thats no big deal, and Id say you have to take under consideration that every Arasaka guard in the company is already at least, MINIMUM, a force to be reckoned with since they are enhanced by arasaka to guard their stations. Johnny was able to infiltrate that tower, along with rogue, on his own. Plus, if you remember the flashback in the game, he actually went head to head against Smasher and still lived to get away from him long enough to reach his helicopter and for rogue to escape: all this with Smasher having BACKUP by Arasaka guards. You very much underestimate this feat if you tell me you that he only made it simply because of team effort :p Again, you dont get a drink named after you unless people consider you a legend. Johnny was one :p

I personally misbelieve most of Johnny's "memories" in game, but his real feat was being able to convince some of the best netrunners and edgerunners during his time to walk into 'Saka tower with a WMD. If you're purely talking about combat scaling like this tier list is, he's well below the tier he's in.

Let's take a very easy comparison: V at lvl 50 can one shot enemies as a gunslinger. If you remember Johnny's memories, he was one shooting enemies for around 100k dmg as well. So again, how is he on a lower league when being compared in terms of power? And if youre going to disbelief the memories shown in game, thats just biased then. We might as well disbelieve everything presented to us. Facts given to us cant just be thrown under the table just to accommodate an opinion. Taking his damage in game under consideration definitively shows he's at top tier power level.

@@blkwng Look I'm not going to really say anything that other comments haven't already said that you're sorta repeating the same arguments back at me even after seeing, but I'll give it a shot. Alt straight-up says that Johnny altered his memories, so there's at least an equal argument to whether you believe Alt or Johnny, so the bias argument holds no water. Besides that, do you really believe that Shaitan, a full-borg, gets one-shot on the door gun, so Johnny heroically takes over and kills everyone with pinpoint accuracy? The only other full-borg that we see is Smasher who, even if Johnny altered his memories to make himself look better, even then still absolutely bodies Johnny with barely a contest at 'Saka tower. Alt's story checks out more for me, especially when you consider that Johnny is definitely the type of guy to remember things differently to boost his own ego. You've never told yourself a lie so many times you start to believe it? We also have to take into consideration that we, as the player, are technically controlling Johnny in that instance, so an experienced gamer is going to make Johnny look a lot more competent than someone who has just picked up their first video game. Did Johnny really stop in the zen-garden to jink about wildly while trying to input the Konami code? I doubt it. That doesn't disprove that the memory happened, it's just another reason that it shouldn't be taken as a verbatim recount of the event. Damage in the game also doesn't mean much given that there's pre-established lore on Silverhand from the TTRP and other sources. Besides that, the 'Saka tower assault takes place more than 50 years before the events of the game. The tech Johnny has access to is certainly not going to be nearly as good as what we have in 2077, and likewise the Arasaka goons he fights in that flashback aren't going to have access to the same gear either. On top of that, health and damage numbers literally change with difficulty, which is why you almost never see any arguments in any fandom over power scaling take into account in-game damage numbers. The entirety of V's scaling in the fanbase comes from them defeating Smasher, who easily merks exo-suit David, Johnny Silverhand and likely fights Blackhand to at least near a stalemate, and has enough left in the tank to go and easily wreck Johnny straight after that fight with Blackhand. The drink argument also means basically jack shit, given that Jackie gets his own drink on the menu despite being honestly a pretty mediocre at best edgerunner. Why does he get his drink? Because of his qualities. Heart, determination, loyalty, ambition. Johnny, in his time, exists alongside three of the best netrunners to ever exist in Alt, Rache and Spider Murphy, the best person at getting shit done in Rogue, and the best Solos in Morgan Blackhand and Adam Smasher. In no established lore or even speculative lore does Johnny scale remotely close to any of those people. But that's ok. His strength is in his conviction, his style, his ego, and his charisma in managing to get all those people (aside from Smasher) together working toward common goals. There's nothing wrong with him being a lovable dickhead. In fact, I'd argue having the most strong-willed out of all those characters (besides maybe Bartmoss) be a comparatively weaker combatant and a deeply flawed individual is actually an example of good writing. Just because he can't one-inch punch a hole through a building doesn't make Johnny less of a legend, but this video is about power-scaling.

@vominomi The chip did buff V greatly. David had in total 12 implants including the Cyber Skeleton and he was considered having significantly higher threshold than normal. In the game, a full build V can have up to 22 implants which is retardedly overpowered, and still has almost no sign of cyber psychosis unlike David. Many people believe that the reason V could take so many implants is due to having Johny sharing the mental burden and I think that's the most logical explaination.

There is a news report within Cyberpunk 2077 of a group of corpo mercs who were taken down and one of them said that the one that attacked them had a metal black arm(only one person in the whole Cyberpunk Universe has a blackhand). Morgan is 100 years old. But he only takes jobs that he wants and even if he has an army in front of him he will use non-lethal takedowns(that is one of the reasons why he is/still is the top solo even at that advanced age) and also remember this world is ran by megacorprations and they have augmentations that can make a human live longer. Also Adam Smasher is not a cyborg. But a full borg(the only thing that is still human is his brain and that is it) and even before he was made into a machine. Adam had very little to no humanity in him while he was human and that is why Adam Smasher is the manifestation of the monster who views humans as nothing but meat and his rival Morgan Blackhand is the manifestation of the human who sees humanity as something worth keeping. Not to mention that The Emperor Saburo was 153 years old and yet he looked like a man who was in his late 70s(that is Cyberpunk for ya). Also there is no drink named after Morgan in Afterlife and ever legend of Night City gets that honor and Morgan being the legendary solo not have a drink named after him means one of two things(he is alive somewhere or the Afterlife owners are morons and forgot, which I do not see that happening especially considering that they named Johnny Silverhand's drink, whom would be 88 years old in engram form).

His flashback memories are his subjective views of his the events at the assault Arasaka Tower which by the way is led by Morgan Blackhand, not Johnny

Damn, i grinded so hard to make my V doomguy so i could kill most of the npc and boss in less than 10 hits. Never know most of these guys i fought had a Sandevistan (beside some gonkd dodged bullets). Also thought it was supposed to be special and only a small amount of people had it, in the anime, the Cyberpsycho, David and Adam was the only 3 that used Sandevistan, actually, i never know Adam had a Sandevistan lol.

Wanted to mention: James should be lower than razor, both have plating, subdermal armor, except James Norris died in 2075, and he died at a time when sandevistans werent readily available, and gen 4 cyberware didn’t exist. The weakest gen 4 (experimental during 2077 is what they’re called) pieces are superior to everything prior, the apogee is one of these, and while James has the apogee, he can’t use it to its full effect compared to David. His nano real skin should be more durable than James, and his strikes should be VASTLY superior, the only thing James could do is use the mantis blades, but I doubt razor doesn’t have a counter, as he’s the best boxer in night city, with full experimental BioWare and cyberware, with even 2077 basic bone lace being stated stronger than anything not a full Borg, which flatly puts them above military grade non Borg tech. Razor also has a kerenzikov, which then can be temporarily amped HIGHER with his sandy, which should be greater than James’ apogee.

Songbird would probably have her own tier. She may not be anywhere NEAR as strong as V physically, but her power over him/her specifically (can cancel out his/her cyberware due to her connection to the relic and the black wall) puts her high up simply because she is the only being that verse that is capable of taking down V. I feel like V would have no sweat on defeating a rogue black wall powered Songbird IF she didn't have so much control over the relic. Would rank her above David, below Smasher in power, but above V if we're specifically talking him/her. All of that control over the relic is simply too strong.

Shit I dunno. She’s a really talented runner, maybe just slightly below Alt. In the game, she had opportunities to flatline V but I think she just didn’t because she sees V as a friend. Even without relic control, you’ve seen what her blackwall hacks can do to people. Don’t think V or Smasher could stop that, relic and hidden Arasaka tech considered. Blackwall AI are apocalyptic, essentially elder gods while our legends are still only mortal.

You know I like and agree with a lot of your lists, however I gotta say David is not on the same tier even remotely to V, it took an enhanced cyberskeleton made FOR Adam smasher to even approach him (for David) and in their actual fight between smasher, smasher casually pulled him apart and practically one shot him with a punch. I also think Pilar should be WELL above Jackie, while he’s by far the best choom, Jackie had zero cyberware pretty much, just fashionware, and in the heist he states he doesn’t even have basic up to date operating systems installed, and Pilar could knock out two scavengers, who are almost as dangerous (and scarier in my opinion) as maelstrom, who individually usually always have boostware, and light subdermal armor. Honestly David’s bully whose using strong arms (a custom sub-variant of gorilla arms) would likely beat Jackie in a fist fight.

Johnny's a interesting character. Knowing the TTRPG story and what we know of him in 2077, he's not the legend we think him to be in the eyes of V. Canonically, he's an able fighter. Having fought in the army in Nicaragua, being chipped with a Sandevistan and being a Solo for Militech in the assault on Arasaka tower next to Morgan Blackhand. Also, in lore, no one knows what happened to him. As his involvement, and everyone elses', in the Arasaka tower bombing was covered after the Fourth Corporate War. He also died rather quickly after engaging Smasher. It was also Spider Murphy who created his engram, not Arasaka. So, he's a legend in the sense that he started the Rockerboy movement, he was a Central America Veteran and a more than able Solo. But not for the Arasaka bombing. The reason we don't know anything about Morgan in the game is because Mike Pondsmith asked CDPR not to include him as he already has plans for him. Morgan is also officially missing after the assault on Arasaka.

Rogue should be much higher due to her tabletop stats, but yeah, she's not in her prime in the game. I guess she lost most of her cyberware and maybe some field abilities by 2077. In 2020s Rogue was refereed to as one of NC best and most influential solos on par with Morgan Blackhand. Her tabletop info also includes Sandevistan, inhuman reflexes (She actually has more REF than base Blackhand), highest possible pistol and rifle skills and other military implants. She was also the member of main TTRPG team and she's the only survivor of it (Silverhand, Thompson, Shaitan didn't make it, Blackhand is MIA) So I believe Prime Rogue would easily be an Elite tier minimum, definitely higher than Johnny, who canonically was oneshotted by Smasher and has much lower stats. Also it's funny how you didn't even include River, poor guy :D Other than that, great video!

She was still unable to get into Mikoshi on her own. Dont get me wrong, she is too dangerous to be dealing with(Hence why I feel the endings of the game so bland, like I either sell my soul to Arasaka or let the most dangerous AI/Being on the planet into the subnet of the most dangerous corporation, what can go wrong?) but she is not all powerful YET. She becomes stronger after the game ends(If she gets into Mikoshi that is). But even during the Arasaka run she still had to divert her attention temporarily to deal with Arasaka outside netrunner attack(Even though she completely broke trough Arasaka ICE in seconds with an access point). Besides that, as said before, she is incapable of breaching Arasaka's systems all at once on her own. I would even say that Net Watch as a whole(Not any individual runner but their combined effort) is still a dangerous opponent for her.

That was Morgan Blackhand, and Johnny was not the leader of the attack, and he wasn't the one who planted the Bomb - that was, again, Blackhand - Johnny was the leader of Team Alpha and worked for Morgan Blackhand. Morgan fought Adam Smasher on the rooftop to a standstill - with Morgan running circles around Adam. Johnny was killed almost instantly by a shotgun blast from Adam that tore him in half. Even throughout the game, you get narrations that Silverhand's memories are unreliable - he was never interrogated by Arasaka. He was dead. And the Alt you meet in game isn't actually Alt, it's an AI that has taken a fragment of Alt's Engram that Spyder Murphy fragmented and spread into the net. This is hinted by the fact the AI's mask slips when it starts talking in it's own multi-faceted voice as if glitching (a feature that happens if you played Phantom Liberty before meeting Alt). Spyder Murphy was the one who Engrammed him with Soulkiller, and Arasaka tortured his Engram, and very likely warped his memories. It's also hinted that Silverhand's engram is incomplete, because Spyder Murphy only had access to a partial Soulkiller whe nshe used it on him to 'save him'. What we see from Johnny's perspective was deliberate, clever writing. It's insinuated Johnny is actually a High Functioning Cyberpsycho.

After Phantom Liberty, So Mi earned a place in the top tier too. Her ability to use the Blackwall protocol is far beyond Lucy's capabilities and she managed to destroy crawlers so strong that even Smasher would had trouble against them. In Killing Moon, we saw how strong she is even when she was pretty over her limit and almost died. Cyberpsycho So Mi showed the truth raw power bind in her. Not even Smasher could easily win against her in this state. It also showed how strong the rogue AIs are and that proved how overwhelming her abilities must be to withstand this for so long. V can get the cyberdeck to control the Blackwall protocol too which is one of the strongest versions of V but V does not have all these chroom to exploit as much as possible. With her chrome, V would reach a complete new level.

I think Johnny Silverhand is low high to high mid tier. Johnny does have a powerful one of a kind pistol, and has military experience since he was a soldier. Johnny is in the end just a guy with a gun, among the Militech strike team that was sent to destroy Arasaka tower, Johnny was in my opinion the weakest member of the crew, compared to Rogue, Morgan Blackhand, Shaitan, and etc. Actual Solos with years of experience, and Shaitan, an actual borg, like Adam Smasher. Canonically, Johnny was shooting at Adam Smasher, and Smasher one shot Johnny, cutting him in half. In the game, when you experience the first memory of Johnny storming Arasaka tower, when Johnny encounters Smasher, the memory jumps or skips forward, because that's when Smasher killed Johnny, but Johnny altered his own memories to make himself look more heroic. Adam Smasher and Morgan Blackhand also had a duel later on that night. With Smasher holding Shaitan's biopod hostage. (Imagine the bipod as like a brain in a jar) so Smasher wiped out two members of the Militech strike team and still had a duel with Blackhand, number 1 solo. So Smasher is terrifying to fight against. I apologize for the long comment, but in my opinion Takemura, Oda, and time-skip David would wipe the floor with Johnny. Yeah Johnny killed Akira, but Johnny had assistance from Rogue, Santiago and Thompson. If Johnny altered his memories to make his death look better, what would stop Johnny from altering more of his memories aswell? Otherwise, I agree with most of the tier list.

Being looked upon as a corporate dog on a leash. Good eye. Yeah, Boa Boa and Blackhand would defeat Smasher. I agree, but I don't think it would be as easy as we imagine. CDPR really needs to buff Adam Smasher in the game btw. I don't think that it would be that easy. :p

Johnny Silverhand should be a step down on the tier list. The dude is basically lying to you in his flashbacks. Dude was good in a fight but largely relied on the manipulation and conning other people to do his bidding. He legit uses his fans as a human wall to attack Arasaka, several of them dying for his cause. The dude puts up a tough front but is mostly all talk and the few times he does get brave, he usually gets his ass handed to him. Case in point, the only lore accurate flashback is when he's attacked and Alt is kidnapped. Dude got jumped and slice and diced so fast in a right with a trained combatant. That's pretty much how it went down in his memories and back then the cyberware wasn't even as advanced. It wasn't mantis blades but classic arm spurs that got him.

BioWare in the verse is actually really good. It costs more than most cyberware, but when using all of them you don’t go cyberpsycho, and are only SLIGHTLY weaker than having every legendary cyberware.

No matter how fast his reaction speed was, how experienced and well oriented he was in combat, the power of the Sandevistan is just too strong for him to compete with imo.

I think the tier list is more about how "generally" powerful they are, not specifically a death battle between one or the other. Johnny became a famous rocker boy and a Night City legend without a Sandevistan or many notable enhancements, while David did less even at his best and fully geared out, so technically that makes Johnny far more resourceful and thus more dangerous than any street gonk with a spinal cord implant. But yes, even in the game Johnny gets stabbed by someone with a Sandevistan and he admitted not seeing him, so in a straight up cage match he'd likely lose unless Silverhand shoots them before it's even activated.

All of his cars are equipped with defense systems. He has a huge garage full of them and he has AVs. He is on the level of an entire faction, as a singular entity.

ngl sandevistan is the real training wheels since V doesnt need em to defeat smasher and its actually way more fun(hard) not to use sandy in boosfighs

Song would probably be legend tier as well imo. By the time we meet her, her durability is pretty low, but anyone she really wanted to kill with her spooky blackwall attack is probably gonna die first.

Yeah... V is a top-dog by a large margin. Of course, you have to build him/her up to the point of OP, but until then, he/she is at best LOW tier.

Even before having the chip. V and Jackie were able to clear out entire gang by themselves, as well as infiltrating the Arasaka tower, one of the most heavily guarded in the world. I'd say that V was already a natural mid to high tier combatant at the start of the game with very few implants. Having the chip and many implants later pushed him into God tier.
