@@Kornelius707 I think it is THE Jackie, but because he was essentially dead his braincells had started to die. So whatever was left of Jackie, they got into Mikoshi with soul killer. The way I see it, it's like someone with serious brain trauma. The version of Jackie here clearly responds to stimuli and even routes a fitting answer with what he has. That was the real Jackie.

I sent Jackie to his family, I later collected Jackie's guns from his ofrenda, I used them for all Arasaka missions going forward, it just felt right.

@@zephyrirons4658 You need to ask Delamain to send Jackie's body to Mama Welles, then accept the invitation to attend Jackie's ofrenda when Mama invites you, you need to call her if you missed her earlier phone call, attend the offrenda then leave the area and return later (I tend to do at least one mission before returning), you should be able to loot both of Jackie's pistols from his shrine.

I guess, since Jackie was dead, Arasaka only managed to extract his memory without consciousness. Then I think they used some kind of AI that could process a question, search through Jackie's memory and answer accordingly. That's how Arasaka interrogated Jackie, and that's why Jackie repeats the same phrases he had already said before. Jackie is not actually alive in this scene. Arasaka turned him into a chatbot. Pretty dark if you think about it.

Imagine the impact of Jackie's death if you actually had more than just a couple of missions with him. I know there always would be someone complaining that it is a drag and unnecessary content but I would love to spent some time with him. If the brain is the source of concious, copying some parts of your brain could mean reviving a damaged personality and that personlity can live in constant pain in digital world. In the video Jackie recalled Misty and said the first thing he could remember. That could mean he can still think in a way. If my writing is hard to keep track sorry Eng isn't my first language.

Which is why the decision should have been between leaving the body somewhere (for Arasaka to find) or to bring his remains to his mom instead... AND NOT having the "Yeah, let's bring him to Viktor first, to clean him up, so his mom won't have as much of a trauma" be the pro-Arasaka option. I just ranted about this in my own comment (meaning not a reply) so I won't say more here, but this sort of "quest design" pisses me off so much.

It's too common for games to pretty much spell out the implications of all your choices before you make them. Delamain is secure, Viktor's clinic is not. In the world of Cyberpunk, even this outcome should have been anticipated.

johnny is a copy, but his memories, conscious is intact and has ration. jackie is a poorly written copy, that's all. johnny died and his brain died too, but it was transfered in the shard, basically his brain still lives but as a copy not in johnny's body. jackie is messed up tumor.

Something to consider: Arasaka uses Soulkiller on Jackie and makes an engram of him. If you do the Nomad or Rogue endings, Alt tells you she plans to have all the engrams merge with her after you connect with the Mikoshi. So in a way, Jackie will live on in some form, like Johnny.

@@SternLX ur on the good point there , if u follow cyberpunk 2nd to 3rd paper rpg (which got cancelled for the 4th edition) that is the plan , saburo managed to get his hands on soul killer in order to be immortal . 3rd edition have a whole faction of full borgs that kept their original body away just in order to be able to "live" from time to time like a human (sort of) . So in short the point of the relic is to maybe "clone" a body and inject it with the bio chip persona , and there u have +- the same things as gholas from dune universe . or getting a body with all u want let this body dies in a way or another then the persona in the relic replace "the soul" and voila . the murder of saburo by yorinobu was indeed for that reason (yorinobu created a gang to be away from the shadow of his father) . if Saburo succeed well his children 'd never be "free" from him , i know this is a twisted way of thoughts but arasaka isn't exactly nice people ^^

What's harsh is that the original of this, in Neuromancer, is totally matter-of-fact. Case's old buddy and mentor Pauley had his consciousness copied/ripped into a ROM construct by Sense-Net, and it can't make new memories. I remember there's a brief moment where Case is like 'that's f-d up' but then they steal him and use him for the main mission with general shrugs. That's the thing with that novel, all that stuff is just part of the world they live in and is largely normalized.

When Jackie says "oh Misty...", he experiences genuine remorse, because his final thoughts were likely of her and that he wouldn't get to see her again. Then Mikoshi tries to find the next relevant thing by doing a query in his engram for "Misty" and it just regurgitates it, thinking it's relevant. That's a fate worse than death. Shame on Microsoft for actually floating this idea to us.

Personally, it would have been better if there was a hidden timer for the Arasaka tower, if you complete it in time X, he doesnt die in the car but instead passes out and you can decide where he goes. If you send him then to his family, he dies. If you send him to Vik he barly lives and gets snatched by Arasaka and they make an engram out of him. That would open up the opportunity for a DLC, where both you and Jackie get a second chance like 5years later to roam the city if you decide to go to the space station and get Silverhand out of you head.

For me, Jackie wasn't in the game long enough for me to feel a big connection, which made me feel bad that I didn't feel THAT bad when he dies, because it's clearly supposed to be such a gut punch. It makes me wish that you could have brought him along for other free-roam gigs in Watson before the heist, maybe get different dialogue and options on how to deal with things. Definitely would have helped to make me feel worse about his death. I liked him though, probably one of the nicest people in NC despite being a merc. The streetkid introduction got me the most: he literally only knows you for a few hours tops before bringing you home to his mom for lunch and a place to stay. RIP Jackie

For me personally, Jackie's death actually hit really hard. I loved the relationship they built. And in fact, the whole main story was essentially an homage to Jackie. If it wasn't for Jackie and that brotherhood, V wouldnt be "holding on to that biochip" or even going on that mission with Jackie in the first place. Jackie clearly changes V and I believe Jackie/Misty is the only reason V decides to fight for his life

@@adrianalavez4140 The difference is that Silverhand got 'uploaded' while he was still alive. Jackie was dead for minutes if not hours before Arasaka started the upload and as you may know just 5 minutes of being "dead" is enough for permanent brain damage. This is why Jackie's construct would be incomplete. Alternatively, they simply never needed him fully functional like that, so he got some non-premium treatment. No idea about other characters you mentioned, since I'm not that far into the main story.

well for me sure it was not good to see him dead next to me inside the car.... BUT... honestly I have to say... they rushed the part with me and him together too much... some flashbacks of what they experienced together ... not building up emotions for me.. some missions... and then it has been seen from my point of view TOO FAST until he died. Like that no deeper feelings can evolve I would say... not even close to what came afterwards with Panam for example. So for me seeing him dead was for sure a sad feeling, but not deeply "depressed". SADLY they gave us not enough time to really get to know him. Because of this I hope too that he somehow gets a chance to stay longer during an upcoming DLC

Damn this quest hits like a train.... I've chose to send his body to Vik (thinking, that I don't want his family to see him dead in a cab). Later in the story, when it was revealed, that his body is with Arasaka and they probably made a construct out of him. I was so hopeful, that maybe there's a way to save him and I was so happy, when I met him on that rooftop. Just to realize in a few seconds, that he's nothing more that the few last thoughts of a dying man... I had to stop for a couple of minutes there to get myself together again.

If you tell Delamain to not do anything and to wait for you, then you do get a message from Delamain letting you know that when you didn't return, he decided to deliver the body to his family. So yeah, it starts the same quest as if you had chosen that option yourself.

Yeah, I sent him to Vik on my first playthrough. I just imagined a car rolling up and his mother finding his body shot up and covered in blood. No parent should see their child like that. I figured Vik could clean up the body some before Mama Willis came to see her boy. But after finding out what happens at Vik's, I had to send him to his mother. Better she has a body to lay to rest than no body at all. No good choice, just different degrees of bad. A running theme in this game.

My interpretation of this scene is that Jackie is in fact dead and Arasaka used soul killer on his already dead body to gain knowledge of the heist I also want to add that he can only use past words he’s spoken and you have to see the deeper meaning in everything he says and when the program is speaking to V and is asked if he remembers what happened it’s Jackie saying he died trying to do the heist with Dax and that he died doing what he loved the “in the major leagues” next line he ask about misty to which he ask for the car meaning he wants to go see her and the last is that he never got to thank him for saving him he replies with a warning The biochip with an order for a drink and the special drink at the after life is a Johnny silver hand to which then when you say your goodbyes he literally says see you in the afterlife bar which is easily interpreted to the afterlife (think like bumble bee from Transformers uses the radio he’s using things he’s said to convey a secret message without completely giving up V’s true involvement

Or it is just his memories playing back based on voice queries spoken by V. They mentioned they can't make a construct from a dead person and Hanako also said Jackie isn't what you expect him to be (ie "he" isn't a concious being, just a snapshot of memories). Also V can only react disappointed about the encounter and there is no new info you can get from "speaking" with Jackie's memories. Any deeper meaning only exists in your head. Jackie is gone for good.

Going through the first missions with Jackie on a blind play (never watched any trailers) it was a pretty hard gut punch when he finally left.. I had a feeling when shit went south and he took one on the ledge something bad happened, but he hypo'd and seemed ok till we got to the car so my hopes got back up. But the adrenaline wore off, I was screaming about how we got away and that line "Yeah Mijo, your going to be rich, i can feel it" and then smiled it really hurt for some reason, then he gives you the chip and he was gone... then after all the madness after that, and you walk out of the Megatower again for the "first time" and you see that stupid little food stand to the right... i felt a real emptiness. Then you can call Jackies number and leave a voice message, and pretend everything is normal... maybe it hit me hard because thats how it was when i lost my cousin, you just want the normal back.

So far i have 3 playthroughs of the game and doing it with a female V just adds a whole new level of emotion and immersiveness. Female V is just so much more expressive and more emotional than male V. All the sad parts ingame cut way deeper than with the male counterpart or at least the male voice. One of those of course is the scene with Jackie's memorial. And somehow the female V gets so much more badass when she stands up to Johny and opposes to him.

Played both and can not agree to that generally - seems that is how we interprete it ourselfs according to the gender we took. Took both and in various Styles and Pathes. Most impactful with Jackie was imho male/Streetkid/Brawler. Loosin the "best Buddy" hit hard. Second (first I played) was the platonic relationship with female/Corpo/Agent (Tech+Netrunner+Rifle). No romance as she was not into Men and mostly asexual, but loosing a good working Mate you respect was bad. The others kinda blend in altogether even though Nomad does not hit the spot at all for me as I miss the Nomadness in it - does not fit to the Story as it goes; a few more "runs" together in a more Nomad-Style had sureley done better here.

Likely what ended up happening, regardless was mostly that Arasaka did infact have the technology to proper get his personality back, or rather, get his entire personality, memories, everything, into mikoshi. However. They didn't. His only purpose, to Arasaka, was to provide intelligence data as to who commissioned the heist, who did it. This is why, after you "die" after being shot by Dex, Takemura finds you. They found Dex. No other link could've lead to Dex. T-Bug was fried, and whats-her-face got near-fried fully by the Pacifica gang. Jackie is the only one in this equation who wasn't fully damaged, atleast, in regards to his *head.* This is the fucked up part. They had the ability to fully scan, and archive his personality, his behavior, his thoughts, everything. But all they did was rip his personality, his memories, his everything to shreds. Only data they needed was the heist. So stripping him of his memories of his family, his friends, outside of those possibly associated to the heist... Everything like that? Gone. Everything that made him human, outside of those few things said to V before the heist, and after were all that remained. And yet he's still partially aware, and fully existent in that prison. That's why he doesn't just call you V, when you talk to him. He's still, somehow, human, even in that fragmented shredded form. He calls you Brother, or Sister. He knows you're there, he doesn't just call you V. He even reassures you that "Everything'll be Alright, V." He still is aware of who you are, and still cares, but cant say goodbye, or anything beyond the lines relevant to the heist. It's the most disturbed part about what Arasaka likely does to those who fucks with them. Denies them death, and forces them to live in endless purgatory in Mikoshi as a piece of data, a fragment of a person who cannot die, and never leave.

No one will read it but I've never felt so much remorse for a character in a game. My temporary best friend during hard times, fictional and entirely digital, right where he ended up in the hands of Arasaka. If they don't finish this game, it's a complete forfeit and failure upon the company and I will never even glimpse their name again. Stories like these need completion, resolution. Before that, they need further building, something those six months would have effectively gutted us emotionally once we reached that point. The sendoff needed to be payback, bitterness, not a possible ending where you just doll around with Arasaka because you were afraid of one of the players in a larger game.
