Ive been there. Crying at a grave. Angry, grieving. Its a pain like no other. If cancer takes someone you love, the blame falls on an illness. If its murder, you can blame the psycho. Overdosing you can blame the addiction or the pills or the dealers. But suicide? It was a choice. The only blame is on the dead, and you cant very well do anything with that. So you blame yourself. "If id been more vigilant..." "If id have loved harder..." "I could have changed this if..." But when its all said and done you just have to carry the weight they shrugged off. And it hurts like no other. The weight is somehow easy to take on, but impossible to carry. The VA for judy didnt make a believable performance here. She reached into her memory and grabbed hold of that weight again. Shes been through it. Shes been there. And she put it on tape for us to hear it from judy. It wasnt "lifelike" or "believable" it had to have been genuine. Real. Because if i had to do this scene, id have changed nothing.

I think Kerry’s Panams and Judy’s represented the feeling of losing someone to suicide. The anger (Panam), the disappointment and regret (Kerry) and the despair and hollowness (Judy) they all expressed their own emotions but I think those three were the best

I love panams reaction, it is very consistent with her character. The way she was reserved and kind of unsure of relationships at first indicates she is afraid of betrayal and have a hard time trusting people. Then she develops a relationship with V despite that, but when her fears come true she becomes angry at herself for making the wrong judgement and opening herself up to heartbreak. I'm saying this assuming she romanced V, i don't know how these scenes change or don't change if there was no romancing.

So once she confronts V death, which she can't overcome, she becomes angry at who allowed Death to come in. It is unfair, but emotions usually are. Maybe it is unfair to give up without talking to her in person too, you know? But suicide involves only victims, nobody's to blame.

@@freecake1 I thought the Panem ending with Judy romanced was best. Judy wanted to leave the city and she does with V. Judy would be accepted into the Aldecaldo's or atleast make good friends with some of them(the tech lady that picked her up would be one of them) so if/when V passes she will have a close group of good people to be there for her to share in her grief. She gets to spend the remainder of V's time side by side, happy together without any of the cities BS. All other endings with Judy romanced Judy ends up alone, no friends, no close family to support her. The end of the Johnny Rogue ending, the time they spent together wasnt all that great, V kept Judy in the city she wanted to leave and in the end Judy decided to leave anyway. The best ending option depending on romanced characters is Rogue + Kerry or River. Nomad + Panem or Judy. Kerry and River want the city, Panem and Judy do not. Only missing option is the straight character opposite choice. No straight male choice for the Rogue ending, and no straight female for the Nomad. CDPR should have had 6 romanceable characters.

In my first year, I worked three pretty awful suicides in back to back weeks. Hell of an intro to the job. About 5 months later had another. It's like a cheese grater against the skin. Thankfully haven't lost a partner to suicide yet, but talked to plenty who had tried in the past. The job is hell enough when it's others. Worse when it is one of your own. FWIW, I've not finished River's side quest on my main play through, but they did a good job of casting him and making him feel like he's actually a cop... even down to the bitching about paperwork! My favorite part of his character! LOL

I think what's so powerful about this ending is that at first, from V's perspective, it's being portrayed as them taking the "noble" way out. Their argument for suicide is that they don't want anyone else to get hurt, and maybe the player might even agree with that. Then, once you get to the voicemails you realize just how badly you messed up as the player. That you just singlehandedly shattered the lives and hearts of all the people you had previously helped. It makes absolutely everything you've done in the game truly meaningless.

To put you in the position and mindset of someone debating suicide (personal experience) and I'll say this, in the monet right before, it's so easy to feel like it's the right call, your head messes with you and reasons to you that this is ultimately the best solution, when it doesn't solve anything. V, like so many others, myself included, thinks that this way hurts no one but me. It takes away my suffering and no one has to be burdened by my needs. But the ending shows just how wrong that logic is. Shows just how wrong the mind can be in that position. No one else dies, but everyone loses, everyone gets emotionally destroyed and their lives are worse off for it. It's beautifully, and realistically written. Even so, it should be clear that ending your life is never the right option.

Panam and Kerry being actively pissed off is so saddening to see aswell because you know that deep down, they aren't actually pissed off, they're just sad to see their friend/partner take their life. Most people don’t care about the stories while I think it’s always the most important element in everything. Movies, songs, books, games, etc... Cyberpunk is in my opinion one of those rare games from today that leaves a mark in your memory. It has some issues (more on a technical lvl) but on the story side, i really liked playing it. You can see that Cd Projekt Red makes games cause they 1st love playing too. So thanks CD Projekt Red. By the way, The witcher 3 also was great, the dlcs are amazing.

@@sasudo I agree. I was a bit miffed at first that i never got to look at my (i.m.o. dayum pretty) Fem-V during the game but it works to make you see through her eyes at all times, you become her. All the events have far more effect because they are almost happening to 'you'. Cutting away to 3rd person at the end was like a beautiful ending to a movie that YOU star in. (I just wish the graphics looked as good as that in the mirror-mode haha) Though if there were indeed more 3rd person clips planned, i wouldnt mind if they threw them in at some point. It's all eye candy.

I think about the ending all the time and the more I analyze them, suicide has actually a positive thing about it. You die and hurt everyone close to you, true. (That is why you shouldnt really try to connect with anyone and go deep when you know you're already dying though) If you help Arasaka, Saburo returns and Arasaka is evil again. If you ask Panam, 3 people die for you and the only thing they gain is a new start, Panam is new leader so she doesnt have time for you anyways (male V) and overall, you put all the people through so much shit for your life. If you ask Rogue, you kill one of the best characters and possibly make her a lot of enemies. If you attack alone, you give a lot of power to Night corp and Mr. Blue Eyes - this happens in Rogue ending as well. Johnny ending is the rational ending problem is it has to go through one of the above paths to get there => not good either. With Suicide ending - Yorinobu is on top of Arasaka, stages a coup around the world, Alt doesnt get Mikoshi constructs, nobody dies and the only minus is you hurting people close to you (how big of a minus depends on your playthrough). However, I am selfish and wanted to live so for me it is: Secret>Panam>Rogue>Suicide>Johnny (suicide and Johnny can change based on your conversation in sofia and ending path) >>>Arasaka So, although I dont particularly like this ending. Logically it makes the most sense when you think about it.

Panam says she had to cancel a few times but we really don't kniw enough the gauge their relationship. My prinicple reason for saying this is the better ending is because whilst Yorinobu might be victorious in his coup, Arasaka doesn't have the massive immediate decline in stock price. It remains its strength for longer, thus onky drawing out the coming war with Militech and putting civilians in the crosshairs for longer. The last war was drawn out and nearly collapsed the world economy. Without the attack on the tower, the war beckmes long, with it, Arasaka collapses quickly. Of course there is still toconsider how to deal sith Militech afterwards which js probably the most troubesome element of this ending.

I think it reflects the street kid life path the most. Either that or the Reaper ending. TBH, everything after act 1 is basically a person who by all means should be dead pulling more and more homicidal stunts. Pulling down Arasaka would create a massive power vaccuum in Night city, with Militech most likely becoming the uncontested hegemon. If you've paid attention to the minor missions and notes you'll have realised that night city hangs in a silent balance between people, gangs and corps where the peace is barely maintained. Many Street kid dialogue options reflect this. Considering that V's action would most likely put all her friends and her home in mortal danger simply because of the vengeance power trip of two dead people. And V knows s/he won't likely survive even in sucess, thus won't be able to protect or even just live with anyone after this. In Heywood the family comes first, and Heywood aka the streets IS family. Throughout the game we get to wrestle with the concept of death, suicide and contentment. So in the end, the choice is yours, a perfect allegory for real life. Do you proceed and possibly burn down everything around you on the offchance you might make it, or do you take the cowards way out?

I should be good now to share my thoughts more clearly. When I got this game I thought I was going to go for all the endings but now, I just can't. I can't put myself through these well thought out but horrible feeling endings, I'm already on the verge of an emotional breakdown dealing with my own depression in the real world from before this game even neared release. So I'm just going to stick with my one ending that I got and leave it at that because from what I've seen of the other endings, I may just have gotten the best one on my original playthrough. Seeing and hearing Judy hurt, hurts my heart and soul in equal parts. She's been one of my favorite, if not favorite, supporting characters in media as a whole because there's just something about her that speaks to me on a whole different level but I can't quite put my thumb on it. It's not her looks because those don't last forever even with all the tech of the Cyberpunk universe (Saburo Arasaka, case in point, older than even The End from MGS3 and visually looks just about as aged only without a beard that rivals Santa's beard) and it's not because of the fan service because who tf cares? there will always be rule34 so. like w/e..I guess it's her demeanor or personality or something but whatever it is, it's a strong enough force for me to not want to see her hurt. God I haven't cried this much in a while, then again, I've done a good job of distancing myself from things that could potentially trigger these emotions up until now that is. When I beat the game and decided to check out the other endings (I got Panam's ending first), this ending really hit me hard mostly because I was suicidal for a while and seeing the reactions from V's friends hurt, but mostly Judy's reaction hit the most, the pain you feel gets passed down to your friends and I believe that was what kept me from actually committing suicide. I understood that if i died that my family and friends would've been affected and I couldn't do that to them, it would've been selfish of me to do that. When V's friends finished saying their goodbyes I sat there crying for so long that I lost track of time, I saw my own family and friends leaving me voicemails after I passed. I'm glad they put this ending in because it shows people that even if you think that committing suicide is the right answer, it really isnt, the pain you felt gets passed down to everyone that loves you. Better to fight for survival.

Alt uses soulkiller to make a copy of you but from what I’ve gathered, she doesn’t delete the original version in the sense that your consciousness is still there, and consciousness wise, because you’re still plugged into mikoshi the whole time, it is the ‘original V’ that walks away from it. At least, this is what I choose to believe so I don’t get miserable at the ending 😂

And there goes the last ending. Can't help but notice how much more relevant Panam and Judy's romances are compared to Kerry and River... Take Panam vs Kerry for example (the Male V options). One is a significant character in the main story and has a dedicated ending, the other one barely knows what's going on with you :(

Nobody ever really talks about this but the way mrs welles talks to V in these voice messages is beautiful. You can tell she looks at V like their her own child and how much she cares for them through her character and acting and it couldnt be better.

After playing the phantom liberty ending, I feel as though this ending is slightly more justified because in the phantom liberty ending everyone forgets you except for misty and vik, when misty says “you don’t know how many friends you really had” we find out in phantom liberty that we only had 2 real ones, and Johnny if you get along with him.

The devil and the tower endings have a very similar theme in friends moving on and all that because the tower is you inflicting the devil ending on So Mi. After two years it's understandable that people move from someone they knew for at most a month or so. And the the reward of the tower should reflect exactly what it cost V to get there.

Johnny: Understands but with you until the end, he'd grown attached to you why he doesn't see the Suicide option when you throw the pills. Doesn't try to argue his choice but what he says and how he says it doesn't feel like any writers did this dialogue. it strikes me as more 'What would I say when i've become best friends with someone but I get to talk to them before the choice is made. 'Was good you called wish I'da had the chance to' sticks it out to me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kerry: I can tell that he's hurt by the choice, the anger is more like 'damn v you made your choice but I dont like it' Doesn't quite mean the 'romanticizing suicide' just that V's choice isn't what Kerry would have wanted for him as an option at all. V got him out of his funk and after the Samurai reunion and after V's choice felt like 'it was a waste' ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Viktor: means what he says, would have preferred v alive as long as possible but accepts it. Wishes you the best for after it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Misty: Cared for you in ways you thought you didn't know. seemingly the most accepting but saddened underneath. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Judy: her reaction feels the most painful of all, maybe she's considering the option after the call. will miss you more than anything her emotions aren't a thing she shows in person from past trauma. Like when you take the Leave NC option with her and Panam, when she's truly happy for the first time in her life but doesn't tell you in person. I get V's decision I would be lying if I wasn't considering it at the back of my head as my do all end all, plan Z. He sounds tired and defeated, I can't blame him...

The final messages from your friends are so realistic, each one copes with the loss differently and expresses very different emotions. Their reaction is also very coherent with their character and the way they were written. This ending is obviously very sad and melancholic but I think that some others were astonishingly even more depressing. Knowing that really there was not that much more you could do anyway even if you did your best since best outcome is just six more months of life. I can understand that this version of V which picked this option was just tired of this and has known that death is just in their near future and there really was not much you could do.

This is nice when you've gone through levels of depression that put you into these stages... Especially when you feel like you have no one to tell you these things you'd wish you'd heard alive, just a little love... I always show people the love I'd give as if i was missing them... Because Ill never know when they come back.

For my first playthrough, this is the ending I chose, yes, it is upsetting and bittersweet, but it worked well, and I think it was a good end to V and Johnny's story. They're sitting up on that rooftop together, having one final discussion and describing life itself and making sure they are both okay with it. They finally agree on something, and they say their last words to each other, "it was nice working with you". And then they die together side by side. That is a true definition of friendship right there. And then the companion call reactions. Don't even get me started, I was shedding tears when Judy and Misty said theirs. Overall, I loved this game and its story, and I think this ending was a perfect end to that story.

Got this ending by accident when trying to go for the legend ending, I remember realizing what V was going to do when the cutscene started and it wasn't the duo going to Arasaka on their own, I remember desperately looking for a way to skip the cutscene or go back to the decision, I remember watching the ending and just sitting as the credits played and seeing all the characters react. I had to put the game down for, to be honest a couple months just to sort out how I felt about this. On one hand it's a gut punch, on other you can see V's logic, but at the end of the day, this is the one ending I could definitively call bad, not badly written, definitely not badly written, but it's the one where you just give up.

Not regarding this ending but the similarities between Mr. Blue eyes n Gary the prophet are quite uncanny. Thought my man Gary was a clown until I started another life path after reaching one of the endings. Turned out my man was spitting straight facts from saburo being alive to rouge AIs beyond the wall. Not to mention dud wears the same ring as my man blue eyes. Man these two are up to something. My guess is that both of them are AIs in human bodies.
