Just finished watching ALL of your Let's Play videos, realised some pretty cool things I never knew about these old Sonic games. Like this plot twist thats coming up between Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, I never had Sonic 3 so I don't know what thats about. Keep it up, I'll be watching all your future vids now.

I like that nearly every Sonic 3 level (outside of the Knuckles levels) has an elemental theme. Angel Island - Fire Hydrocity - water (duh) Marble Garden - Earth Carnival Night - gravity/electricity Ice Cap - Ice/Cold only one that doesn't is Launch Base.

"Marble Garden" is so named because it's a garden-like area with marble structures, I suppose, but I never understood the pits full of oil/mud/feces/whatever either.

While I know this is a year old, I know some of the answers to some of the questioned posed in this video(if not given already). It is called a marble garden just like how marble gardens in greece was called those, large areas made out of marble. With that, I am guessing most of the stone structures you see are marble. The blue things are like gears that worked with some of the things and the level really does go on a bit too long.

Hehhe, this was fun the other day when I played with a friend. Since if the second player moves durring the boss they control where you move. We only won because I did a ton of hits to eggman before the ground vanished.

I always thought this place was the aquatic ruin, but drained, but I guess angel island is different from wherever the hell sonic 2 is set, but even then this game isn't entirely set on angel island, only the first level and maybe sky sanctuary?

its a chemical just like mega mack when they made it it dint pass the test at chemical plant zone so they dumped it in marble garden zone and they call it that is because theres so much marble that its like a garden of it or because it has marble and tons of grass and that thing you bounce on is what i like to call the speed meter

I guess the theme is that Marble Garden is set in an Aztec-like setting with all the pillars etc made of Marble slab. But is still sorta out of place for a Sonic game, I guess... XD

I always thought that oil was like tar...Why is there tar in this stage? The same reason there's tops and those blue wheel things and those heads that you have to pop their pimple to make progress. The zone simply makes zero sense.
