I love Maushold, because on a casual playthrough they are so easy to overlook. Most people are gonna completely ignore then, not realizing what a beast they turned into once they learn their signature moves. I named mine "The Gang" and they carried me through the elite four, it was beautiful.

Quaquaval hands down. I'm a Mexican and I know how much samba is done in Latin-American culture and I've seen Mexico's carnival live before and my sister even danced in the festivities so seeing a Pokemon that so perfectly reflects that was awesome to see. Plus he's a handsome boi with incredibly expressive animations and an awesome potential to be a devastating sweeper with Tera Aqua Step+Moxie to setup a free Dragon Dance's worth of stats.

Great Tusk is one of three Pokémon revealed pre-release that instantly captivated my heart, the other two being Koraidon and Fuecoco, and seeing it in-game - and then finding out it was a _Titan_ - made it instantly my new favourite. It was the first Shiny I hunted, and the first Shiny I've caught in Gen 9. Koraidon is a very close second, though, and it supplanted Yveltal and Zekrom as my favourite Legendary even before Scarlet came out and made me love it even more

Yeah the power creep is insane honestly. Gholdengo is too good. Maushold is too good. Zero set up for absolutely massive damage. It's frustrating how centralizing certain mons are. You'd think that wouldn't be the case in a format without legendaries but here we are with a ghost/steel Kyogre who's immune to status and trapping, and a technician user with a 10 hit move where each hit does 25% of your health bar if terastalized.

Doubles has always been pretty fast, which imo is why GameFreak favors it for the VGC format. But yeah, gen 9 Doubles does go at a pretty good clip. Not a bad thing in my opinion!

Maushold has alot of moves that are suited for doubles. At the same time, if your feeling very RNG lucky and devilish, you can slap on kings rock and hope for population bomb flinches each time it hits

Combine it with Gravity for 100% hit rate. Stonjourner is sadly the only Gravity user available this generation, but it would also permanently boost Maushold's damage... Kind of gimmicky because Stonjourner is slow, but I might try that just to see it happen.

Also i have to say i really like and support open teamsheet. One tournament experience that really discouraged me was a regional where someone leaked my speed and moveset of my pokemon to a friend which really swung game 1 - they told me later that they were told by my previous opponent where i had no data on theirs. They have been a player longer and know more people who are happy to share data where i was a relative newbie…it felt like even if i was good at pokemon, i would also be have to be good at socializing/scouting if i wanted to do well which sounded so tiring. So i think open teamsheets would even things out a lot more for newer players, especially because terra typing can swing things even more than speed tier/moveset info

Hey Aaron and anyone else watching! I have a tip for playing with or vs population bomb because a 10 hit move is pretty unprecedented. So first off, population bomb has a ~50% chance to crit at least once [1-(15/16)^10 = 0.4755 = 47.55%]. What this means from a damage calculation perspective, is that if population bomb has a 1% or better chance to ohko you without a crit, it actually has at least a 48% chance to ohko you because a single crit will likely push it over the edge. TLDR: if you check the calc to see what the chances are of getting ohko'd by population bomb, take whatever number it gives you and divide that number by 2, then add 50% and you'll get the REAL chance that it kills you. Of course this does assume that population bomb hits, but since most maushold should be using wide lense you can adjust for this by taking the first digit of your adjusted ohko probability and subtracting it from the total, adjusted ohko probability.

Just used this team in the Victory Road tour today and went 6-3! One win away from making top cut. Overall a solid team, it’s all very common mons but they all synergize really well together. I wish the team had 1 or 2 more Pokémon with Protect, it’s very fairy weak, and doesn’t have a great matchup versus weather teams. But still a super solid team that really helped introduce me to this format and try out many of the common Pokémon. I’m excited to try more of the teams you feature!

I don't think it'll be used widely but this battle certainly opened my eyes to its potential! A bulky Iron Defense + Body Press user with immunity to Ground certainly has a place in the meta.

I think the best design is Meowscarada. Nobody really wanted Sprigatito to stand up, yet despite that many people, including me, really do like Meowscarada's design in the end. Just for the fact that it kind of went against community hopes but still ended up being so well liked, I think it is the best design in gen 9. GF gave us something that we thought we wouldn't like, and then made us love it.

One important thing about Population Bomb that you didn't mention in the intro is that if one hit misses, the rest of hits don't go through either, so the possibility of missing an early hit makes Population Bomb much worse without Wide Lens. Orthworm is funny, because on paper, it's just funny Onix with better resistances. I didn't really think about how its type + ability walls Chomp's STABs. That's kinda cool. Also, Maushold hype! This is why I can't decide what team to start with. I want Maushold to be in it, but the decision between this set here and a fully supportive one is hard. Sidenote, I love how the original team creator subtly nicknamed it Mousehold. Maus is the german spelling of mouse (and Haus the german spelling of house) so the original name still makes sense, but with the english spelling it really does look less strange.
