@tomiik51956 ай бұрын
It's not even subsonic round proof. JerryRigEverything did a video where he tested some other bullets and even a round carrying half of a subsonic 7.62x39's energy went through the door.

@tomiik51954 ай бұрын
@@rickybobbydastar6534 Subsonic means it's travelling at less than 343 m/s which is the speed of sound. These rounds are quieter because there's no sonic boom (loud cracking sound caused by multiple shockwaves compressed together created by an object travelling faster than the speed of sound). With less speed also comes less energy carried with the bullet.
@calebhu63833 ай бұрын
That's not true. There are subsonic rifle rounds that would go through, and there are supersonic pistol rounds that would be stopped (such as 9mm).

Bullets are typically rounded off and not sharp while arrows are extremely sharp. 2:11 Actually the MP5SD is specifically designed to reduce standard 9mm ammo (which is supersonic) to sub-sonic velocities. The entire barrel has vents along it to bleed off pressure and reduce velocity. So, no, the bullets probably aren't going faster. They are going even slower than the rounds out of the handgun, which is evident from the fact the dents aren't as deep.
@TheCharleseye10 ай бұрын

For a real test, try some rifle rounds, although seeing the damaged window after the shotgun hit it isn't very promising since buck/bird shot isn't known for penetration either. Okay first off this is pretty impressive. I do wanna point out a couple of things though: Each firearm transition, besides the glock to the MP5 was a downgrade in muzzle energy, and each test was consecutively weaker than the last. .45 has more energy on impact than 9mm, even out of a 4 inch barrel (I’ll be back to the mp5 in a sec), and each 00 buck pellet carries even less energy than the 9mm. Buckshot is effective as when all pellets hit an object, the energy is multiplied per pellet to the target as a whole, however for testing penetration, each pellet can only deliver its own penetrative energy the more the pellets spread, which is typically less than 9mm, unless you get multiple pellets in the exact same impact spot (which did happen here.) or a much tighter spread. The closer together the pellets, the more penetrative power buckshot will have. again, this is still pretty impressive. Second, to my knowledge, the 8 inch suppressor would not increase velocity, at least by any significant amount on top of the 4 inch barrel as the grooves of the barrel (which help increase velocity and pressure) don’t exist in the suppressor. Feel free to fact check me on this Lastly, would be super cool to see how it holds up to rifle fire, as rifle cartridges deliver SIGNIFICANTLY more energy on impact than handguns or individual shotgun pellets, and have drastically more penetrative power due to much higher velocities. I’m sure someone will test it at some point. Edit, for 1.8mm thick, that’s still insane

I think you're mostly right. There's no way it stops 5.56 or 7.62. Probably not going to stop 5.7 from a pistol or carbine either.
@jamesburge198310 ай бұрын
You have made the same observation I made. BTW The MP5 SD actually slows down the bullet. It is not the suppressor that does this, but rather the design of the barrel itself. immediately after the chamber itself HK has drilled holes in the barrel in order to vent gas, thus reducing the pressure propelling the bullet. The reason for this is that the MP5 SD is designed to use standard issue NATO rounds, which are hypersonic. In order to create a 'silent' weapon with full power rounds, HK needed a way to bring the speed down to subsonic velocities, thereby negating the sonic boom created by hypersonic rounds. So yeah, you got it right the HK actually shoots a slower round than the Glock.

For those of us who are NOT pretentious Americans, the thickness of the steel is about 0.072", or slightly thicker than 16-gauge steel. Normal body panels are 18 gauge or thinner. For reference, a Delorean would hold up even better than the Cybertruck. What makes this somewhat impressive is the ductile nature of the stainless alloy they are using. That's what is allowing it to deform and stretch without failure. A mild-steel 16-gauge panel would not stop a bullet, though an aluminum panel of about the same thickness might.

They used pretty much the maximum calibers this truck will stop. Basically typical handgun rounds, but not all handgun rounds (.357 Mag will probably go through). In other words the vehicle was not designed to be bullet proof and there are dozens of calibers that will easily cut through like butter (like any other car). About the only positive thing you can say is that it could stop some rounds in some situations. If you want a bullet proof car, you can have one modified. Obviously, the weakest spots are the windows, but they can be replaced with bulletproof glass. It wouldn't stop the majority of rifle rounds. Velocity defeats armor. There's a reason they only chose 45acp, 9mm target rounds and shotgun shells because they are lower in velocity. There are some dedicated higher velocity armor piercing 9mm that would go through that. Any 5.56 would go through that without any trouble. In fact standard military m855 62 grain green tip goes through most steel and armor unless it's specifically classified to stop rifle rounds. Just think that .223/5.56 is a varmint/small game hunting round. Try .308/7.62x51 or 30-06 etc and it will blow a hole through both sides of that truck just like any other vehicle. The important part is which month of 2020 you bought the shares.
