This is a great video for introducing just some of the possible applications of a Cybertruck with Tesla and Starlink technologies. I think a very obvious disaster application as demonstrated by the recent storms in Florida and other places in the U.S. is a Cybertruck power station and communications centre. I see a Cybertruck towing a specialized trailer that brings a large solar array for generating power for a longer time than the Cybertruck battery can deliver. There would be Starlink connectivity and publicly available computers for people to access email, phone, and other communications. I noticed that SpaceX’s distribution of Starlink terminals in the areas hit by the recent massive floods has had a profound impact on families being able to connect for help and communications to families and the outside world.

I received the new free trial of FSD last week, and it is amazing. BUT, Saturday I got into my Model Y and when I went to start FSD there was no connection. On the screen it just showed my car with no visualization of the surroundings. I did a reboot, to no avail. I just took over and drove the old-fashioned way. No telling what happened. But what if my vehicle didn't a steering wheel, and manual controls. It would have been broke down. So if we put all our eggs in one basket, (vehicles with no controls) wouldn't we be screwed by a solar flare or some type of event that disables communications to our vehicles? BTW, a couple of hours after this happened, when I got in the car to go home, everything was back to normal.

The construction idea has limitations, mainly the fact that they really can’t work as long as they’re capable of working because of the fact that regulation will slow them down, so unless governments are willing to come up with a new type of regulation for robotic workers in construction, which allows them to continue to work without waiting on every little inspection you won’t be able to work you’ll have to wait sometimes days for inspections so you can go onto the next part, also delivery services such as boom truck, deliveries, and other materials, including the possibility of cranes will delay your project so there again the inability to continue a seamless construction project there would be a lot of work needed to be done for your idea to come to fruition. The other problem is with the cyber truck providing power in electrical assistance to a residence. Yes, I know it’s been done, but in some areas of this country, electric companies are actually fighting back against this forcing regulations to be put into place which makes it very difficult for solar power for the home and battery backup systems to be put in And implemented. This is another problem that would have to be addressed on that side some electric companies even want to charge the customer to install these items which makes it less likely that they’ll be installed. One might say their foresight is lacking as for their customer service but this is what happens in rural America, where no one can observe this closely. There are many other things that would have to be addressed to look at what happened with Starlink when they tried to bring them in to rescue people from communication issues they were blocked and prevented from doing it until they made a big commotion about it, which finally allowed them to bring it in, but it wasn’t until they had to address the issue and explain it to the common person in mass that they change their tune, but don’t kid yourself it will most likely happen again until something is done to prevent governments from interfering with the rescue resources, such as this. There’s a lot of interesting concepts here but all in all I see many problems with implementing with the current structure of things within our government and within a common person who hate change or are afraid of the change and especially with those who don’t wanna admit, they’re afraid of the change or paranoid of the change whichever way you wanna look at it. Thanks for a interesting video a lot of food for thought in this one.

Another thing that would have been interesting to explore is how the Cybertruck could bring a trailer with solar PV modules. Then you also have local generation in remote areas, which would increase endurance of whatever application being set up.

Great idea. Back of napkin calculation: Towing weight is 11000 lbs, discounting 2000 lbs trailer weight leaves 9000 lbs.. Dismissing weight of machines and empty tanks (back of napkin, right 😁), that's the weight of 1070 gallons of water, much more than my 450,, so eating some of this with battery weight leaves enough battery for more than current 20 loads, and enough water than current 15 loads. Great thinking. Also, 20 load battery with 15 loads of water. Rushing this through, didn't notice that even with current battery i left on the table 33% additional loads. Ouch.

@@alanlight7740 I agree. However where i live lots of roads have major traffic problems for robotaxis and robovans. I really want a robovan but with supervised FSD, steer by wire, brakes, etc. We have lots of wildlife like moose and black bears that you can't see at night, snow, ice, fog, rain, frost heaves, pot holes, etc. How will a robovan handle a speed bump? During the winter herds of elk and deer stand in the roads because they are plowed. There are single lane, dirt / gravel roads with loaded logging trucks that you have to avoid by actually driving off the road unless you are lucky and the road has a wide spot. How will a robot vehicle handle that?
@alanlight774019 күн бұрын
@@richardservatius5405 - I tend to agree that robotic vehicles should have _some_ way for a driver to tell it where to go, even if it's not a full sized steering wheel. It's not as big a deal in cities, but as you say it can be a big deal elsewhere. Of course long term it won't be as much of a problem, as the AI gets smarter and has more experience and perhaps humans even have new types of interfaces with machines. I don't see a problem with the robovan dealing with speed bumps, though. That should be pretty easy, just as with any other vehicle on the road.

The CT is for Tesla fan boys who wear buns on their heads 0:40, and have no clue about trucks except to show off to the world how rich and different they are. The CT has a 6' box, with a spare option taking up 3' of the box and the extended pack taking up another 2', you have a 1' box. Furthermore, when towing, the range is 50% less. The tech is cool, like the 48v system and steer by wire, but the shape, design, and stainless steel sucks. The fingerprints would drive me crazy. I bought a 2019 F350 Dually regular cab 4x4 for 50k Canadian, or 37k US. That is a hell of a lot cheaper than the 100k CT. I have a payload of over 7000 lbs, while the CT is around 2500 lbs. My towing is over 18,000 lbs, while the CT is 11,000 lbs. My range is over 500 miles, while the CT is over 300, and I have an 8' box with a spare tire. I saved over 60k, and have a truck that is superior to the CT.

Latest official numbers show that although making EVs emits motre than making ICE cars, due to lower emissions when used, after less than a year of driving EVs more than cover for this even in areas where electricity is 100% from coal (not many of these anyway. @ConnectingODots17 күн бұрын
Enabler is key, my friend, not a sidenote. My video focuses on Tesla and Cybertruck for two reasons: one is practical - to get more views . Making the content then having few views isn't sustainable. But the second and main reason is that Teslas are early versions of smart cars - in a way like eay iphonws and Samsungs were to today's smartphones. When adressing this i say it's not just Cybertruck that will be an enabler (totally stealing your word😁) , it's also all other teslas and future smart cars. As early as teslas are in being smart, other makers are even cruder. But with time all cars will be smart, and we should realize this opens way more possibilities than just being cars.

I think the challenge with many ideas is scale/volume... will there be enough people interested in these concepts to make these future businesses profitable? Segways and 3D printers were disruptive ideas that never came to broad adoption.
@alanlight774019 күн бұрын
Segways will never be as good as we were told they would be. Specifically, the self-balancing tech was oversold as the things aren't safe in practice, and likely never will be. (In 2010 Jimi Heselden who had purchased the company died in an accident after he accidentally drove his own Segway off a cliff.) The electric scooters we have seen on the streets lately are simpler, cheaper, and seem better suited to how the average rider interacts with them meaning they are also safer. 3D printers were also oversold - but primarily in terms of what was available to the ordinary consumer when they came to public attention. High end 3D printers are already broadly used in commercial applications and we can expect broader adoption at the consumer level as quality improves and prices fall. I expect the 3D printer story is still in its opening chapters.

I think I finally came to a final conclusion about how I feel about the Cybertruck. And it goes something like this: ultimately, I've loved Tesla for a decade or so, and was a raging Bull way back in 2012, way before anyone thought they had a prayer. But in recent years, they've just gotten more and more unnecessarily quirky. That quirkiness has led to decisions and actions that are inherently inefficient-quirky for the sake of quirkiness. Ultimately, there's no strategic advantage to running things like that. The Cybertruck is fundamentally not as efficient as it could have been. The innovation that it has happened IN SPITE OF its design, not because of it. When the first Model S came out, it was fundamentally a better product than anything on the market. Unfortunately, the Cybertruck can’t say the same in 2024 and beyond. As of writing this, it has way too many bugs to be useful on a day-to-day basis. Anyone who's an actual truck person-who uses the truck for real work-needs actual physical buttons. There’s no excuse for not having physical buttons you can toggle at a glance without fiddling and looking down at a screen. Also, why in the world does it not have a rearview camera if you’re going to have on a factory tonneau cover? The range of the truck is also a massive problem (of course this can be improved in future models). Anyone doing real truck stuff is going to run into range issues, especially towing over long distances or in colder weather. And here’s a personal gripe: I’ve never understood why they don’t include heads-up displays, especially when there’s no instrument cluster on the 3, Y, and Cybertruck. Someone pointed this out to me too-the bed sides are really high, so you can’t just throw things over the side into the bed. It’s a small thing, but it really matters for real-world usability. Anyway, I've been pondering this for the last 8 months or so since the Cybertruck came out, and I think I'm leaning towards a no on getting one at this point. I’ve been deliberating over it like crazy because I’m a nerd, and I like to dive into crazy detail whenever I'm about to make a big purchase. I’ve decided instead to go for the GMC Sierra EV-it pretty much has, as of writing this, the best all-around truck. It has all the real-world usability features and creature comforts you'd want, like a rearview camera and a heads-up display. It also has Super Cruise, which is fully hands-off driving (though not as robust as FSD). And the big one: it has 440 miles of actual, usable, real-world range. Hell, even at 68% charge, it still has more range than the Cybertruck, which is insane. And here’s a personal point for me-I know I'm talking into the void with this-but I think what I’ve learned with the Cybertruck is that, at the end of the day, you have to make a product that truly solves problems in a marketplace. Going balls-out to make something that just looks visually different but isn’t fundamentally better will always, ultimately, lose sales because it doesn’t fulfill market needs. And, one last thing-I’ve always been a massive Elon Musk fan for over a decade, but I’ve flipped on that too. There's absolutely no denying that he has done some near impossible innovations in the past and no one can take that away from the guy. But in recent years, he’s just been doing dumbass stupid s**t that makes no strategic sense. It’s quirkiness for the sake of quirkiness, which holds no strategic advantage when you’re trying to innovate. Someone taught me this a long time ago, and it still rings true: it’s easier to succeed when everyone wants you to win. There is no strategic advantage in being polarizing to the general public when you're trying to sell products to that same general public.

Who was it that said "there's no such thing as negative publicity?"🤔 I seem to recall someone suggesting to Elon that investors strongly felt Tesla should advertise. Elon looked thoughtful before conceding "OK, we'll try advertising and see how it goes". Investors visualised one thing, Elon visualised something else 😉 As for driver controls and heads-up displays, these are not here to stay, FSD will soon make these superfluous. So why spend money putting them in? (Ref Sandy Munro) Only got as far as your 3rd para. Getting tired now, so will come back to the rest of your points another time...

Just stating "I don't get it" would suffice. 😂 But, to each there own. I am sincere, in that I hope you get the one that suits you.

I don’t think the Cybertruck is a disrupter in its current state. I was an early reservation holder, I had heard there was as many as 2.5 million reservationists. I never pulled the trigger for a variety of reasons , primarily price and range and even though I liked the pictures, the real thing left me lukewarm, I’m not the only one , out of 1-2.5 million reservationists only 50,000 or so actually pulled the trigger, I suspect for the same reasons. After driving the Cybertruck I came away thinking it just wasn’t developed enough, it didn’t feel right to me, particularly the suspension that kept adjusting … now the Model 3 Plaid, that’s a different story - wow !

Having driven my CyberBeast for 18k miles and 5 months, and wanting all the Foundation options anyway, I can say it's the most ridiculously capable vehicle in any situation you put it in. As a simple truck, the dual motor is comparable to the f-150 Lightning I had. But the Beast is so much more than a truck... Now it's been driving itself for weeks and a few thousand miles, no comparison to Blue Cruise. It's not yet perfect, but it's so much closer than any other rigid system to the point that FSD can drive down a farm field access road just fine already. The tight steering ratio (no hand over hand) and rear steer combine to make it far more agile than it has any business being. Hardware and style wise, it's an excellent blank canvas for customizations. I've got a roof rack with spare, side steps, will be doing a winch bumper. And we have all see the innumerable wraps, but I like mine naked and dirty. As for reservations, many are likely waiting for the base single motor, which will have less sprint time, but still be perfectly capable for most tasks. Ultimately reservations aren't what made the model Y the best selling SUV, so weigh that metric accordingly...

@@D0li0 , thanks for the feedback ! I really need a truck bad, I originally reserved the tri- motor at what I thought was a sales price of $69k but now at approximately $100k it’s a bit too rich for me, I also expected 500 miles of range. Not sure how I’ll go about the vacancy of a truck, I sold my aged F-150 two years ago at a premium and never thought I’d own an ice again but I’m actually considering an older ice truck for the time being.

@@shepherdsknoll the dual starts at $79k, and you can add most of the options from the foundation as needed, or not add them. Unless you're very off the beaten path, the 500miles isn't likely as important as you think. Check that there are super chargers near your routes and those more than make up for range. I did 4k mile road trip with zero planning because the truck knew exactly when and where to hit chargers along the way.

Yes. You're right. After 45 years running and maintaining cars bikes and HGV's i can say that for my 30,000 mile a year to timed appointments my MG 4 EV has outperformed every other "car" I've used in every respect. It's spacious, comfy, economical, quiet, smooth and quick. Very quick.

Not just Cybertruck, what about Tesla Semi with FSD?
