I actually had this Optimus. I never collected a lot of legends/legion/cyberverse figures, but I remember this one being really fun. The wing pack always felt a bit wibbly whenever I attached it, but for what it was, it made me happy. I have much larger winged primes now, but if I ever could go back and get another of this little Prime, I would.

Something you seem to have missed is that his smokestacks are 3mm bars, which is why the Battle Steel version's guns have clips on them--it's so you can attach the guns to the smokestacks, leaving his hands free to hold the swords so he's armed with all four weapons at once. IIRC the fronts of his arm kibble are also 3mm bars, but using them tends to be a little awkward. (And just to be thorough, he has a couple of 3mm pegholes on his back kibble so you can store stuff there.) I never had the trailer until much later, but I had both of the single-packed versions and I always liked arming one of them up with both full sets of accessories.

had this thing as a kid and i loved it, it was one of my first transformers so maybe im a bit biased. also i had the same issue with the hands breaking lol, the plastic on the hands werent the best

Might've been said before but You did forget that the blade steel guns can clip onto the smokestacks along w/the mech tech ports on the sides of the "power armor" arms (where the elbow are) the cyberverse ports (on the biceps) the 5 c clip spots (4 on the BFG 1 on the a/c of the trailer [in front of the hitch for the fifth wheel is]) the 2 mech tech ports on what are the "feet" of the "power armor" & the 4 cyberverse ports on the base "launch deck" I own the TRU promo version (1st edition) the blade steel & the normal non wally world exclusive trailer version (I unfortunately never got the wally world version tho)

Unironically the coolest Prime Trailer, asides from POTP (sue me) I’ve always loved the idea of Prime’s Trailer actually doing something, whether it’s a big suit, or a weapons base. Just the fact that it hinges around rather than opening is really nice.

Had the full DOTM star-styled one as a teen. Honestly loved the whole trailer combo, since it reminded me of the combinations and base-modes the trailer and Optimus had during the Unicron Trilogy

Seeing the OG Bay Trilogy Optimus Prime design in these simple yet kind of brilliant transformations in these little figures kind of makes want to draw my own take on BayPrime. Now this is going to feel like a rant about his design but, like, I look at how he transforms in the movie and I judge his kibble placement, I'm in two minds. On one hand, i can get behind what hes trying to do, with the classic window pecs with the doors adding to the chest, the hood becoming the arms, the rear of the truck becoming his back with the trailer hitch on his back in robot mode, the front fender going on the outside of his ankles, which is a little weird but okay. And then on the other hand he's just pulling things out of his hitch, like the grille makes the classic abs, yes, but a lot of the toys from what ive seen just put that on the soles of the feet next to/under the ankle fenders. The headlights of the truck from the same spot go next to those abs, which the big Weijang Thunder Leader tried to pull off but became way goo fiddly and why other toys just have a fake piece do the job. And then theres the sleeper cab (the big box behind the driver's cab), where does it go? His legs? Seeing the little ROTF and DOTM Primes with their very different from the big boys yet simply clever transformation has me in awe like "Why does that look and feel so good?!" I also really love how, on the DOTM Commander, the rear wheels are on his back, and it does makes sense since thats where the rear fenders and trailer hitch go in robot mode, on the CGI Screen model, even though I'm a really big fan of his wheels being on his thighs, i cant help but love that. And also it reminds of Volvo Prime a lot. Anyway i forgot where i was going with this but yeah, might draw Bay Prime one day

I used to own the battlesteel version of this figure and GOD I miss that figure. I remember going to toys r us when they were still in the US and I got the battlesteel figure and I loved it but sadly over the years he slowly broke down and eventually I put him away in storage. I hope to find another copy some day to fix or even replace my old copy. I would even settle for the “standard” version since I love the mold, I hope to find one some day

@ relatable, my younger sister has a habit of stepping before looking so I would be playing with my figures in the floor and then she would walk in my room and step and break some transformers. Nothing major but a lot of broken tabs and scratched paint

Not long ago, I tracked down the 6 Cyberverse Commanders with those platform accessory... things, and I'm so glad I did. Even me who is very luke warm up Prime actually loves this version with the trailer (I have the other trailer version with the matching Prime). Someday I need to get around to hooking all 6 of them together and connecting them to the Ark to see what the "full play value" is like.

I don't know how sliding rails are a problem in this instance. The parts that slide out are made out of a softer plastic, which won't wear against the ABS.

this figure is very special to me because it was my first transformers figure ever my first moiveverse figure and my first optimus prime figure. and dark of the moon optimus prime has always been my favourite optimus prime design so this figure has always been specil to me even though looking back hes hella ugy but the battle steel is very nice, i would love another crack at a moiveverse legends first triolgy optimus prime i have the studio series dotm leader class and thats my holy grail of a figure but id love a smaller version of him i can take where ever i please

Funny enough, I think I have the reverse thoughts that you do for this guy versus 09. Had this as a kid and loved him, and I still think he looks fine. Slender overall, and the repaint fixes just about all the grievances I have with him. 09 on the the other hand just looks... undercooked? His forearms and tiny feet were just too dumb looking for me. ...still don't get the hate for sliding rails, is it unhealthy for the plastic or something? I just think it's neat.

yeah i just dont get the love for 09. it could very well be the fact they kept reusing him that made me dislike him a bit, but the unpainted grey. the odd proportions, especially the janky asf arms just dont do it for me. that and the vehicle mode is just so much better looking on dotm, paint deco and all

well, i didnt skip this one. kinda glad to say i still wholeheartedly disagree with most of the points you made. no disrespect, i just dont see the reasons to not like him. he still remains the best of the bunch to me. the battle steel prime was my childhood, followed by the trailer version. lack of flames aside, i loved those two. ended up breaking one of their hands after trying to squeeze sentinel's sword in them (lore accurate) honestly, are there any places to get these dudes at an affordable price?
