A road and trail ride across the country using Sustran trails and cycle routes, plus other roads. I go over the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountain on the highest road pass in Wales, camping along the route. July/August 2021.

Beautiful England, green on green. A Stark contrast to the American west.

Good memories of NCN8. Worth going all the way to "just outside" Holyhead! 😁

TBH that was part of the plan, to then go on to Prestatyn and back down the borders. The Welsh forecast for the next week and an uncomfortable saddle dissuaded me and I chickened out!

@@MinackerMovies sounds like a great plan - your idea of touring is very like mine with alternating camp and B&B etc. What a joy!

Haha!! I did NCN8 a few weeks ago from Carmarthen and back in a loop....wish I'd have stopped just before Hole y head!! 🤣 What a place!

This is a terrific video. The "names" of places are flashed by to quickly, for me. I enjoy your choice of background music. Thanks, Frank Jasper Indiana

You picked some beautiful areas of the UK to cycle through. Sadly, I've not cycled in any of these places. Hope to do so one day though. JP the old guy

A very enjoyable watch. That bridge you crossed at 15.50 is a favourite picnic spot, very rarely do we meet anyone there. I hope you have plans to make many more vids. As an aside, my wife watched your Glyndwr's way vlogs and found them very helpful before her successful attempt recently.

Bravo sir, dwarfing my paltry 120km offering this summer, though it looks like I got the better weather.

Since I posted this comment I have explored so many more of the areas in this video and have such a yearning to repeat this feat. I really hope you read this because you're genuinely a real inspiration to me.

What tent would you recommend for cycle camping? Thank you

Really enjoyed that. The choice of music really enhanced the video. What app were you using for navigation?
@MinackerMovies2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, the choice and application of music always takes the longest! I used a Garmin Explore gps. The route was devised using the Cicerone Lon Las guide and the Cycle Travel website.

Thoroughly enjoyed that! Did you plan the route, have an idea of a rough route or just "wing it" "whim it" as you went. Couple of other questions if I may - what kick stand do you use and how did the solar panel work out? Cheers - off to check my panniers now....ha ha ha!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Re the route, I used the Cicerone Lon las and Wales Cycling guides, plus Cycle Travel website to produce the gpx file. I was planning to go as far as Caernarfon, Prestatyn and back down the borders, but my rear end didn’t like the Cambium saddle and the forecast was looking iffy so I curtailed mid way. It was then a bit of ad-lib to rejoin the return part at Hay on Wye. The solar panels worked well, one for the gps and one for the battery pack. However, with the rain, plus so many trees on the old railway routes blocking the sun, they were running pretty lean on the first two days.

The stand was my copy of one you can buy from a US company, Name??? I made it from a carbon tent pole with a trek pole rubber tip and a cradle I fashioned from a pipe clip.

Clickstand! I too have one fashioned from tent poles sections, rubber ferule, and hazel thumb stick top! Thanks for sharing this route.
