In July 2021 I cycled from Dorset to Wales, over 10 days, mostly camping. This is a brief introduction to the main kit I used. For the camping kit, please see one of my walking kit reviews as I used the same stuff for this.

Great set up and video, I've looked at SJSC for many years. Really fancy the Rolhoff hub version but out of my price bracket. Thanks for sharing and you just hit 700 subscribers, well done. Cheers, David.

Great, will it be Rohloff gears and do you have a plan?

Great stuff. I like your new dynamo. We need to see how many miles it takes to fully charge your 5,000mah power bank, then I will get one. I was looking at those exact solar panels too. I think I'm going to have a go with one of the fancy folding solar panels that reputedly works in shade. My objective is to charge a Chromebook and watch TV at night. Please do loads more videos. If you promise that you will then I will subscribe. Can you also do a video on cycling clubs like the CTC or what insurance works best? In fact, just do videos on everything you do and I'll be happy.

I've subscribed anyway. You just have everything I love on a tourer, and I love your videos... but I need loads more.

Thank you for the thumbs up! Hoping to do the Tour du Manche at some point, but more walking to do first! As an older guy, I am a member of my local u3a cycling group, but no others. Check out your house insurance, often they cover you third party liability as standard policy.

Good to see someone using solar👍 Remembering back to when I was a kid I had some kind of dynamo to power the lights must be some high tech stuff now to generate power on a bike?
@MinackerMovies2 жыл бұрын
There are still hub dynamos and tyre edge dynamos, but I opt to use solar, as I do when backpacking.

On my latest trip I kept running out of power due to a gps problem and also dull sky and overhanging trees, so I have now fitted a bottle dynamo to generate power on demand as well.

Could you please tell me names of the brand name of the handlebars and grips plus what barends you are using as I am now suffering hand pain and really think your setup would help me? Thank you Await your reply.Your tourer looks great.

Hi, the bike came from SJSCycles.co.uk. The bars are Thorn flat track mk3 with Ergon grips and bar ends. If you contact Sarah she will be able to sort you out.

Hi does the solar panel make enough power to charge your phone whist riding many thanks Neil
@MinackerMovies2 жыл бұрын
It's never a good idea to charge a phone directly from solar because it cuts in and out and upsets the charge system. I charge a battery pack and then use that. If there is direct sunshine most of the day, yes enough to keep a mobile phone going. Otherwise a top up in cafes or a dynamo is needed. See my vid re a dynamo to use for such times. I used 2 solar panels, one for GPS and one for batt pack. Note, many cycle lanes on old train tracks are shaded with trees! Happy cycling.

How do you like the bike?
@MinackerMovies2 жыл бұрын
Very pleased with it. It's designed specifically for the purpose and it shows, does the job very well. Strong, steel frame and plenty of attachment points. Apart from chain lube it needed no attention over the trip.
