Cool to see you took the effort to look back to the old one. I love my Streetfighter 1098 S. It's roughness, analog riding style and all the Ducati heritage (dry clutch, trellis, big L-Twin) that makes this bike so much fun to ride and to look at. Looking forward to test the new one too, but the old one definitely is staying ;-)

I'm surprised most people never knew about Streetfighter before the new Streetfighter V4 was launched.....like yeah Monster series is good but Streetfighter was probably the most exotic and hardcore naked bike i ever knew about.. I rather have the org Streetfighter 1098 than the plasticky Streetfighter v4. The early photoshop pictures of an naked Panigale V4 looked way better than what Ducati released as Streetfigher v4 with all that plastic....

This is absolutely one of my dream bikes. The look and sound are just unmatched. The V2 and V4 pre-owned bikes are on sale for a steal right now but they’ve just been straying further and further away from the original design language. They’re still great looking bikes but look more and more like their Japanese counterparts.
@bruceleong95344 жыл бұрын
Hey Rennie, great ride around the block. The 848/1098 series are still my favourite “modern” Ducatis. Skinny, hard and love the lumpy sound. Also can’t help wondering how Americans get on with the self deprecating Aussie humour and terms like “let ‘er rip”. These days the Bells and Old Pac Highway are so heavily policed you have to go to Eastern Creek to really “let ‘er rip”. Looking forward to the Street V4 review.

Burned through the rear tire over 1000 miles of Italian twisties as fast and hard as I cold manage on one of these (non S though) with the staff of the Motogiro D'Italia that year (police Expect us to triple the speed limit!). Italians LOVE their motorcycles and if you can keep up, your money's no good at the espresso bar. If you can't, well, bring a GPS. They do not wait. At all. Was still amazed when I swapped with a BMW1000RR. Constantly worried about power wheelies and/or running out of road. Even on strange new roads and someone else's bike with the electronics all supposedly off thinking I was calm, the owner said he had never seen anyone lean over so far. To be fair, I ride mountains every day almost and He was British. I think that county only has about 35 corners total. And they're ALL facing the wrong direction. What am amazing machine.

@ You're absolutely right. Not very comfortable, but the throttle is better on the Streetfighter. You have the best of all three bikes in the Tuono V2. That's an awesome bike.

I was shocked that he didnt like the 990SD. You talk about two of the worst 1000cc streetfighters around the cb1000r and fz1 but didnt like the SD. 🤪 SD and 1098 should be in the same league. Waiting for the streetfighter v4! That will be epic!
4 жыл бұрын
@@fredrikmehlin I depends so much on what you have ridden just before testing a certain bike. Any v2 "super"naked fighter would feel very agressive if you have gotten used to softer and smoother bikes. My first bike was Kawasaki zxr400 fighter and almost none of the new bikes I rode left hardly any impression - they were very dull anf fluffy (despite the power). 990 superduke (the latest incarnation) was one of the few bikes I found interesting, since it was a bit harsh and angry. I really liked cb1000r, since it was well balanced, fast and comfortable. FZ1 was also quite ok - only a bit stiff and docile on low rpms. Some bikes are nice because they are just so hardcore and exciting, but other bikes can be just as good and offer more comfort and usability while being just as fast or even faster.

those are some of the weirdest upright bars I have ever seen. They slope downwards for some reason? I generally don't like putting aftermarket stuff on bikes, but those handlebars would go immediately in lieu of some ProTaper Pastrana bends.
@txpistolero3 жыл бұрын
Looks like someone turned them down. That’s not the proper set up.
@nerdsunscripted6242 жыл бұрын
They look turned the wrong way, but sloping them down would be the only way to get a handlebar height that’s in between a flat bar and clip ons. Originally they go forward and slope back towards you simply for a more ergonomic wrist angle
