At time stamp 11:01 you said the 6th carbon reacts with the 2nd carbon to form a 5-membered ring instead of saying a six-membered ring that is written on the whiteboard. Just wanted to mention that so nobody gets confused :)

If you put them both into a "chair" conformation, the Beta-D-glucose would have all -OH groups equatorial, and the alpha-D-glucose would have axial -OH groups. Therefore, the Beta form is more stable because of sterics.
