I smashed my scales with a hammer in a bit of a ceremony. I can’t be weighed and recover. A scale can’t measure health and happiness. I’m now with an ED team that understand that I can’t be weighed and be free, I’m so grateful because being weighed weekly by the other team just kept me trapped. Just did my first 100k audax today, 120 with getting there! I couldn’t have done that with out all the hard work from that team to help me with cycling nutrition specifically, I’ve found cycling reallly motivates me in recovery, but I also often have a bad body image day the day after a long ride where I ate more. It’s such hard work getting the balançe! Keep talking about it Amy!
@amy.cycling.adventures2 ай бұрын
I’m sooo happy to hear you’ve don’t that and you’re cycling in a way that’s good for you and helping with recovery 🫶🫶🫶 keep going and don’t give up!! Massive well done on your Audax & remember food is fuel & makes us better cyclists 🙌🙌🙌

It looks to me as if Kyle has his saddle much too low and that might be causing the knee pain. Maybe it would be worth doing a quick saddle height calculation just to get the position reasonably close to correct until he gets the chance to have a proper bike fit. Even using the "heel method" would be better than nothing as I honestly think he is way too low at the moment. That aside another beautiful ride in the bag, so a good day all round 😀

Kyle...for your knee..have you tried foam rolling your quad muscle, top and side... I had knee issues nothing was working then someone suggested I might have tight quad muscle from over use which might be causing knee pain.. did a few massage sessions on legs n quads..problem solved.

I do understand Amy. I usually try to keep to a certain weight, but this year I’ve been cycling a lot more and my weight has increased. I know more of my weight is because I’ve put on more muscle, so I’m trying very hard not to fixate on what the scale says, but it is a bit of a struggle. But, I have to remind myself that strong muscle equals better rides. 👍🏾👍🏾

A kilo of fat and a kilo of muscle weight the same. What you want to think about is muscle is denser than fat. So you should be concentrating on how you look not how much you weigh. Happy trails and you should absolutely ditch the scale and never look back.

Your new riding friends were nice, and much respect to becky being a teacher, not an easy job! Im with Amy, don't ride the 100 kyle, instead go get a proper bike fit and do a nice relaxing solo after , also you two should have a person/trainer to lean on when injuries pop up. I also agree with you pinarello mate, 50 miles is tops for me, any more and its not fun anymore but a risk. Im also older and wiser, he heeey!

What a surprise! I watch your video's and live in Exeter and you just walked into my nearest Halfords. I didn't even know about the café that you went too. Yippee....🎉🎉🎉🎉 Oh you have to demolish those scales, cause its more important To feed your body for the rides and life in general. Also, muscle is metabolic, so when you're fed, rested, your metabolism is hyped and you're muscle actually burns calories! If you follow the scales, you'll cut back on calories, then you will stop the above process. Best wishes 😊😊

You already know this (as you will have been at the TdF now) but one of the riders of the TdF so far is Jonas Abrahamsen. He put on 20 Kg and is now transformed as a cyclist. He used to be a stick but was not the cyclist he could be. I'd say Kyle might benefit from seeing a physiotherapist. That knee could be the saddle but it also could be as simple as an adductor muscle issue, a cleat issue. Hope it's sorted by now anyway.

One of the few companies to produce shoes with a wide sole plate (as opposed to just adding volume to the upper) and this makes it a lot more comfortable.
