Fun fact, there used to be a cycle path in 7:03 right where you're riding. They removed it right after PSD, famous for their love of bicycles, took back control of the town hall.

Well you shouldn't go in the levadas at all where there is narrow passages and cliffs and you putting in danger the hikers . Happen to me in a hike from Portela to Maroccos Machico their was a very clear signal saying no bicycles and cyclists . This levadas never been built to doing this type of activity cycling and it is very clear when you hike in them narrow passages near of cliffs and no space for a bicycle .

yeah bikes in levadas isn't a good idea, it's dangerous for everybody.
