I think that enthusiastic cyclist or not, the mainstream cycles industry brands greed has shot themselves in the foot.. If they had not raised the price of bikes up by 33% on av for road and gravel and by 9% the rate of inflation the people would have been more excepting.. I think they have lost the trust of the consumer & poeple have left the space or wont enter as it is a rip off... When a good road bike now is £4500 that was £3000 or less 3 years ago, people see this.. The motorcycle industry has actually dropped its prices in the case of chinese companys entering the market & Japanese makers have included more tech in price etc.. The cycle industry has done this to themselves.. Great video mate👍👍

I wonder if the CEO is taking a pay cut? Here's a radical solution, perhaps they could reduce their prices to just make a reasonable return on investments!

How much is their CEO making? What is their current return on investment?

There is such a thing called "pricing yourself out of the market". Not everybody needs elite carbon fiber bikes, going at the price of a deposit of a house.

The board member's are OK I still say rim brakes and mercancal gearing are what people have been using for years foreseeing people to buy disc brakes and electric gearing
@gnufoo84788 ай бұрын
The latter is not the problem. No issues ever with that. Sadly I can’t say this about my disc brakes. A 160 rotors max is just bull shit! Flat mount = bull shit!

I imagine part of the blame could easily lie in the whole integrated bespoke componentry hell hole...

Some reasons for 'decline' (UK based..) - the weather this winter/spring has been awful, the roads are in a terrible state of disrepair, social media has stoked an unsavoury view of cyclists (some deserved, some not), I used to upgrade my bike every 7-8 years or so - got sucked in to upgrading a couple of years ago - won't be back in the market for at least another 3 years... Just my take on a few reasons...

Much less disposable income is a factor atm too - high energy bills for domestic and business, higher mortgage interest rates, home/car insurance premiums in some instances have doubled, cost of food going up 20% each 3 months, and so on, and so forth...

Hey men could you talk to about Giant brand they seem pretty quiet about the industry changes at this hard times. Thanks!

We are now witnessing the rebound everyone is talking about. It's going to be 2026 before we'll see normal again. In the meantime, enjoy the sales.

The cheapest trek TT bike in nz is $14000

I wonder how much Zwift/indoor cycling has hurt the industry? You don’t need a lot of stuff to ride indoors. Only thing you might wear out on the bike would be chain ?

Feel sorry for the workers losing their jobs through no fault. My own new bike purchase is being kicked down the road and not just because of the financial outlay but tech reasons also. I feel it could be a long road, sure i'm not the only one!

Holding on to a 2017 Canyon endurance, came with ultra for £1000! I would buy a new bike but the prices are ridiculous so I just keep servicing it. If they reduce to price to a reasonable amount I'l buy a new bike!

Imagine the Wright brothers worked for Trek. Got laid-off. And literally took flight off the bicycle industry! The Sky is the limit!

With their heads firmly in the Pros-bike cloud they are getting a logical slap in the face.
@gnufoo84788 ай бұрын
The bikes are still to expensive, especially TREK. The Bike industry must compare prices to other vehicles and adjust their price tag to the reality. Also… a new shimano 105 di2 for more than 500 is not acceptable. At the end, they will all go down with the prices or they will go down.

Forcing people to buy road bikes with hydraulic disk brakes and electronic shifting is a mistake. No road bike needs disk brakes, and electronic shifting while nice, isn’t necessary and not really worth the price. 10 years ago you could buy a full dura ace carbon bike for less than 2500€. I bought my brand new Cube Agree with Dura-Ace for just 1800€ on discount. And that bike was lighter and faster and more reliable than a modern 5000€ bike.
@tonyparkin33798 ай бұрын
Charge less for the bikes they discount by 40% anyways.

In my opinion it’s not rocket science - if you are over stocked , you sell at reduced prices to generate income . I don’t only Blame bike brands like Trek , Giant or Scott ( just to mention 3 ) being in this predicament, but also the components manufacturers - think about it , a Sram Force group set is 2400 € ( without power meter ) online in Germany . 2400 € ?!?!?!? Prices need to be more realistic . Lastly , I do not think that people purchase bikes today mainly to commute , but rather for physical activity .
